Twitch Now Lets Users Buy The Games That They Are Watching

Twitch has mostly been a platform for watching live streams of games. However it seems that the company is looking to turn itself into a potential retail platform. In an announcement on the company’s blog, Twitch revealed that they are making it so that gamers who are watching games will be able to buy those games directly from their channel page.

That means that if you’re watching a streamer review or playthrough a game you were considering, you will be able to purchase that particular game from Twitch if you have decided that you do want it. According to Twitch, “One of the best reasons to buy on Twitch is that your purchases can support a broadcaster. Twitch will share 5% of the purchase price with Partnered streamers that have opted into our commerce program when you buy from their channel page.”

Twitch also announced Twitch Crates which are basically rewards that you get from buying games from Twitch’s platform. “From now through the end of early May, each time you make a purchase that qualifies for a Twitch Crate, you earn an invitation for a chance to win some sweet gaming and streaming gear. There are four weekly drawings, plus a grand prize that includes over $500 of professional streaming equipment.”

Now whether or not you want to choose to buy from Twitch, Steam, or some other platform is entirely up to you, but we guess there are now more options for you to choose from. As it stands there will be 50 titles available for purchase, with more planned for the future.

Starbucks iMessage App Updated With Support For Gift Cards

A couple of weeks ago Starbucks announced that soon, users of Apple’s iMessage platform would be able to send and receive Starbucks gift cards through the messaging app. For those who do frequent Starbucks and also use iMessage, you’ll be pleased to learn that you will be able to do that now.

In the latest update to the Starbucks app for iOS, users who use iMessage will now be able to send gift cards to other users, as well as receive them. This means that if you’re chatting with someone and decide that you want to send them a Starbucks coffee as a gift, you’ll be able to do so right within the app itself and it won’t interrupt your conversation as no app switching is required, although you will need to have the app installed.

Starbucks for iMessage actually debuted last year when Apple revamped its iMessage platform with support for apps. However back then the functionality of the Starbucks app came in the form of stickers, but with this update the app got a lot more functional. In addition to being able to send/receive gift cards, the update also includes new push notifications, an updated mobile ordering review screen, location filters, and more, so hit up the iTunes App Store if you haven’t updated the app already.

Apple’s Comments On Future Mac Pro Could Hint At VR Support

When it comes to virtual reality (VR), for the most part you would need to own a Windows-based PC if you’d like to use the headsets that are available today. However could it be that in the future Apple could eventually support the technology in terms of both hardware and software? Recent comments have suggested that this might be the case.

In a report from TechCrunch, they quoted Apple software chief Craig Federighi as saying, “There are heavy 3D graphics [applications] or graphics and compute mixed loads. Those can be in VR, those can be in certain kinds of high-end cinema production tasks where most of the software out there that’s been written to target those doesn’t know how to balance itself well across multiple GPUs but can scale across a single large GPU.”

Federighi’s comments were made with regards to questions regarding the GPUs in the Mac Pro. For those who might have missed the news earlier, Apple announced that they would be rethinking the Mac Pro lineup, and it is possible that the future iteration of the Mac Pro could come with specs powerful enough to support VR platforms.

As it stands, neither the HTC Vive nor the Oculus Rift support Apple’s platform. In fact earlier this year the company confirmed that there would not be Mac support anytime soon, although last year the company did state that they were waiting for the “right machine” to come along first, which for all we know could be Apple’s future Mac Pros.

None of this is a guarantee, by the way, so take it with a grain of salt, but for Mac users looking forward to VR support, this could offer up the slightest glimmer of hope.

House Dems Predict Members Of Trump's Circle Will End Up In Jail Over Russian Probe

WASHINGTON — Two Democratic members of the House intelligence committee said Tuesday they expect members President Donald Trump’s inner circle will end up in jail as a result of the probe into whether his team colluded with Russia.

“I guess I would say this, that my impression is — I wouldn’t be surprised after all of this is said and done that some people end up in jail,” Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

Asked by Blitzer to elaborate, Castro declined. And while he said the extent of the alleged collusion is “yet to be determined,” his “impression” was that criminal charges and jail time would be the outcome of the investigation.

“If I was betting, I would say ‘yes,’” he said of Trump associates going to jail.

“My impression is that people will probably be charged, and I think people will probably go to jail,” he added.

In an interview late Tuesday with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, Rep. Denny Heck (D-Wash.), also a member of the House intelligence committee, took things one step further, saying, “I will be surprised if people don’t end up going to jail.”

Both Congress and the FBI are investigating possible ties between Trump’s associates and Russian government officials. Trump and his team have denied any wrongdoing, with the president taking to Twitter over the weekend to call the story “phony” and a “total scam.”

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the House intelligence committee’s top Democrat, said last month there’s “more than circumstantial evidence” indicating collusion between Russian government officials and Trump associates.

Girl Had A Perfect Response When Asked Why She Wanted A Black Doll

When questioned about her heart’s desire, this toddler had a sick response.

Brandi Benner of Clover, South Carolina, has a 2-year-old daughter named Sophia who really wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Benner told The Huffington Post that Sophia is a big fan of the children’s show “Doc McStuffins” and takes her interest in medicine very seriously.

“She calls herself ‘Dr. Sophia,’” Benner told HuffPost. “Everyone in the house gets several checkups a day from her.”

According to Benner, a Dr. Sophia checkup includes listening to patients’ hearts with a toy stethoscope, checking for butterflies or bunnies in their ears with an otoscope and, of course, giving everyone a shot. Benner also said that her young daughter uses the correct names for all her play medical tools.

“The obsession is real,” she said.

On March 31, Benner took Sophia to Target to buy her a reward for using the potty for a month.

In the toy aisle, Sophia was naturally drawn to one doll in particular: a girl in a white lab coat with a stethoscope around her neck.

According to a Facebook post Benner wrote about their visit to Target — which has gone viral, receiving over 520,000 likes and 200,000 shares — while the mother and Sophia were checking out, the cashier asked Sophia if she was buying the doll for a friend. Sophia told the cashier the doll was for her and was a reward for learning how to use the toilet.

Benner wrote that the cashier then said: “But she doesn’t look like you. We have lots of other dolls that look more like you.”

And Sophia shot back with: “Yes, she does. She’s a doctor like I’m a doctor. And I’m a pretty girl and she’s a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?”

Benner told HuffPost that her daughter’s explanation brought a smile to her face.

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Brandi Benner said of her daughter’s response

“Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it,” she told HuffPost.

The doll is now one of Sophia’s favorites.

“She named her Meagann Cece,” Benner told HuffPost. “Sophia now requires that Meagann come everywhere with her, including the bathroom. Which is only fitting, I guess.”

As for Target, a company representative told HuffPost that it wants “to create an environment where guests feel welcomed, valued, and respected.”

Target added: “We’re aware of this situation and will use it as a training opportunity with our team.”

Apple Patent Hints At Voice Identification Feature For Siri

One of the “problems” with voice assistants right now is that they can react to just about anyone. This is why earlier this year, there was a bit of a humorous situation where a news broadcaster accidentally activated Alexa for many viewers while on TV. The solution would be of course to create voice assistants that will only react to your voice.

We’ve yet to see that being implemented for most voice assistants in the market today, but this is a feature that Apple could be considering. In a patent discovered by Patently Apple, it reveals Apple’s plans to possibly include voice identification features in Siri in the future. The patent describes a system in which users will be able to save their voice with Siri, and whenever Siri is activated it checks against the saved voice to ensure that it is the owner of the device.

This means that even if your phone is unattended, users won’t be able to bypass the lockscreen by using Siri. This could also be used together with other Apple devices like Apple TV, where Siri will only recognize the owner which in turn could prevent other users in your home from making unauthorized purchases.

We’re not sure if Apple ever plans on implementing this feature into Siri, but it is one of the things that has been brought up in the past, plus it makes perfect sense too in today’s world where privacy and security are pretty hot topics.

iOS 10.3 Update Accidentally Re-Enabled Some iCloud Services

A little over a week ago Apple released the iOS 10.3 update which is one of the more major updates for iOS 10. While the update did bring about new features, changes, improvements, and bug fixes, it seems that it has also come with some small problems of its own, such as the accidental re-enabling some iCloud services.

In an email that Apple has sent some of its users, “We discovered a bug in the recent iOS 10.3 software update that impacted a small number of iCloud users. This may have inadvertently reenabled some iCloud services that you had previously disabled on your device.” It is unclear how widespread this is, or what services were re-enabled as a result of this, but it doesn’t seem to be too big of a problem.

If you do rely on iCloud rather heavily to backup your device and photos, then perhaps it might be prudent to check your iCloud settings to make sure that the services you want are enabled, and those you don’t want remain disabled. We should point out that this only affects some users who updated to iOS 10.3. As you might have heard, Apple recently released iOS 10.3.1 shortly after iOS 10.3.

If you had updated to iOS 10.3.1 directly instead of iOS 10.3, then it seems that this problem shouldn’t affect you.
