S Health Is Now Samsung Health, Offers Online Doctor Visits In U.S.

Samsung pointed out during the Galaxy S8 event last month that the new handset comes with an app called Samsung Health, which is an updated version of the S Health app that Samsung users already have, and that it’s going to enable online doctor visits for users in the United States. Samsung today rolled out an update for the app and it will henceforth be known as Samsung Health. The online doctor visits feature is onboard as well, just like Samsung promised.

The new feature itself is called Ask an Expert. It will enable users to consult a proper doctor online 24/7. However, this feature is only limited to users in the United States right now and it’s unclear if and when Samsung will expand Ask an Expert to other countries across the globe.

The update also adds six main types of health management devices to Accessories which includes the likes of ACCU-CHEK. Users can add a custom pace-setter that matches their goal and performance level following this update as well.

It remains to be seen if the Ask an Expert feature will prove to be more than just a gimmick and something that Samsung device users really rely upon in their time of need. The Samsung Health app is now live and available for download from the Google Play Store.

T-Mobile Adds Free Roadside Assistance To SyncUP Drive Dongle

T-Mobile released its SyncUP Drive dongle in November last year. It enables users to bring 4G LTE connectivity to their cars, access a host of information about vehicle diagnostics and even get GPS monitoring. It’s a great solution for those who have an old car and would like to have these features onboard. T-Mobile has now added free roadside assistant to the SyncUP Drive dongle.

Free roadside assistance is certainly going to be of great help to those who subscribe to this service. To provide this feature, T-Mobile has partnered with the AllState Motor Club.

As and when the need arises, subscribers will be able to use the roadside assistance feature to get jumps, tows, and tire changes via the SyncUP Drive app.

That’s not all. T-Mobile is also offering subscribers a new payment plan which will allow them to buy the dongle, which normally costs $150, for a downpayment of $48 coupled with 24 equal monthly installments of $2. However, they have to sign up for a 2GB or higher data plan to get this payment option.

All existing SyncUP users will have to update their apps in order to access this feature and they will also have to enroll with the AllState Motor Club before they can start relying on SyncUP Drive’s roadside assistance feature.

Sprinkles Is Microsoft’s New AI-Powered Selfie App

As if there aren’t already enough selfie apps out there, Microsoft today announced its new Sprinkles app that’s powered by artificial intelligence. It’s quite similar to other apps of its kind on the face of it. Sprinkles enables users to customize their selfies with captions and stickers. However, it’s also powered by Microsoft’s artificial intelligence learning software and its face detection software which it says allows for features unique to this app.

Once Sprinkles is used to capture a selfie, the app is going to provide several suggestions based on what it sees. It can serve up automatic photo booth style props, guess the user’s age, match their face with that of a celebrity, and even offer suggestions for captions that go with that picture.

The captions can be based on the photo’s content, the day of the week or the user’s location. Many caption options are based on the face detection software so it will provide matching captions that it thinks go well with that particular selfie. Users will obviously be able to write their own caption as well.

This was no doubt a fun little project for the folks at Microsoft that came up with this. Just how well it ends up performing against the plethora of similar selfie apps remains to be seen. Sprinkles is only available for the iPhone right now. It’s available as a free download from the App Store.
