John Legend Adorably Gushes Over Fatherhood

John Legend is loving fatherhood.

Appearing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Tuesday, the singer gushed over his 1-year-old daughter, Luna.

“It’s a different kind of love. It’s very pure. It’s unconditional,” he said. “But they haven’t earned it yet. They didn’t do anything. They just exist,” he joked.

When Colbert asked Legend about the the first time he held Luna, the artist got sentimental.

“It’s beautiful, it’s very emotional, and it brings you and your wife closer together,” he said. “It’s a very powerful feeling to see the product of your love right there in front of you.”

Happy birthday, Luna Simone!

Since becoming parents last April, Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, have been very open about their wild ride.

During his “Late Show” appearance, the dad spoke about how having a child changed their perspective on their own parents and how much they loved them.

“Chrissy says, ‘If (our children) don’t want to come have dinner with us when we’re old and they don’t want to hang out or call us, I’m gonna be so sad,’” he said. “We put so much love into this.”

During the show, Legend also did a segment called “John Legend Makes Mundane Things Sound Sexy,” in which he sang about everyday tasks that parents know all too well ― like doing laundry and going to Costco. And of course, made them sound sexy.

John Legend is totally … legendary.

Tess Holliday Shares Empowering Postpartum Message With Just Two Words

Tess Holliday has a message for other moms out there and it’s all about self-love.

The plus-size model, who gave birth to her son, Bowie, last June, shared a selfie on Instagram Wednesday while dressed in underwear and a T-shirt with a caption that says it all: “Belly love.”

A post shared by Plus Model Mom Feminist (@tessholliday) on Apr 26, 2017 at 3:02pm PDT

Holliday is a proponent not only of body positivity, but also of keeping it real when it comes to the journey of motherhood. Tears and all. In December, she posted a photo opening up about learning to love her postpartum figure and dealing with the pressures put on women.

She has been able to put things into perspective when it comes to ridiculous body standards and her personal happiness.

“I definitely felt like I had to relearn who I was, and relearn my body and how clothes fit on me,” she told Romper earlier this month. “It felt like everything that kind of made me feel like me was stripped away a bit … I think trying to lose weight and do all of that after is absolutely ridiculous. [Your children are] only little for so long and even though it’s hard, I think it’s way more important to cherish those moments than it is worrying about how you look or what size you are.”

Lyft Successfully Capitalizing On Nice-Guy Image As Uber Stumbles

Uber may have the higher valuation, but Lyft is trouncing it in the PR game.

Starting May 1, Lyft riders will have the option of rounding up their fares to the nearest dollar and donating the proceeds to charity.

The ride-hailing company first announced the program last month, revealing Thursday that it will funnel its first month’s donations to the United Service Organization, a nonprofit that supports members of the U.S. armed forces.

A company spokesperson told HuffPost they selected the USO because 10 percent of Lyft drivers are veterans. May is also Military Appreciation Month.

Lyft says it will add more organizations in the future, enabling riders to pitch in and select causes from “climate change to the pursuit of equality.” The program will roll out on Android first, with iOS coming soon. Users will have to opt in by selecting “Round Up & Donate” under the “Settings” tab:

Lyft’s PR wins ― coupled with Uber’s numerous missteps ― are turning into real-world gains for the company.

Documents obtained by Bloomberg show Lyft’s ridership more than doubled in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year (though Lyft, like Uber, is still losing money).

And earlier this month, the company raised an additional $500 million in funding at a valuation of around $7 billion. At the same time, Uber’s far-larger valuation has reportedly tumbled from a high near $70 billion to a “mere” $50 billion.

Despite Lyft’s gains, however, Uber remains the undisputed ride-hailing champion. Based on Bloomberg’s first-quarter data, Lyft’s annual run rate sits at just over $3 billion ― Uber’s is more than six times that.

Powerful Viral Photos Show The Unstoppable #BlackMenOfYaleUniversity

Akintunde Ahmad has established some great friendships on campus as a student at Yale University, and he wanted to bring together some of his closest peers to capture the beauty of their bond.

So he hired professional photographer Vivian Dang to take images of him and eight of his black male friends. He then posted the pictures to Twitter earlier this week with the hashtag #BlackMenOfYaleUniversity. The tweet, which included four group photos, immediately went viral:

Black students make up just 10 percent of the student population at Yale, and Ahmad, who is a 21-year-old junior majoring in sociology, said he intentionally included the hashtag to make a bold statement about their presence on campus.

“By no means do we represent all the black men at Yale (there are hundreds of us), but we hoped to just give a glimpse as to what OUR daily lives look like,” Ahmad told HuffPost in a email. “We hope that these photos serve to dispel some of the negative stereotypes surrounding black men, but also act as a positive, uplifting and inspiring image of black men on college campuses.”

Ahmad’s personal story is quite inspiring itself. He grew up in Oakland, California, and graduated from high school with a 5.0 GPA, 2100 SAT score and acceptances into almost every Ivy League school in the nation. But his success did not come without him overcoming much adversity ― growing up, his brother followed a different path and fell victim to gun violence and street crime before he was incarcerated for several years in 2013.

Ahmad says his studies are focused on social inequalities in America, and that he plans to pursue a doctoral degree in sociology and create a new field of research that focuses on the effects of gun violence and trauma in urban education. He also hopes to teach one day and perhaps become a consultant for government and education agencies.

“For me, being a black man on Yale is something that I embrace with pride,” he said, noting how he and the men in the picture all come from different communities and how grateful they are to have each other for support.

“I try to live every day to its fullest potential,” he added, “because I know how so many other black men in America haven’t been afforded the same opportunities that I have.”

Maxine Waters Delivers Sick Burn About Trump's China Policy Shift

We’ve known for a long time that Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) is full of moxie, but, if this is any indication, the 78-year-old has no intention of stopping her parade of badassery.

In an interview with Yahoo News’ Bianna Golodryga, Waters was asked for her reaction to President Donald Trump’s tax plan

“We don’t know what it means… It does not have any specificity. It does not have any details,” she said. “We don’t know what he’s talking about. And don’t forget: you can’t trust this president. When he comes out with one thing, he’ll change the next day.”

Waters cited Trump’s flip-flopping about NAFTA and his position on China as examples. She said that Trump initially called China “currency manipulators” and then delivered a fantastic burn:

“He had chocolate cake with President Xi and, all of the sudden, they are not currency manipulators.”

Waters is referring to Trump having a staunch stance about Chinese currency manipulation during his campaign, which he changed right after meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping… when they ate, according to Trump IS THAT CORRECT?, the “most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you’ve ever seen.”

As R. Eric Thomas said in Elle RECENTLY? about her, Rep. Waters is “fresh out of mercy” and “trying to single-handedly strap this country to her back and carry it to safety.” We can only hope she keeps on keepin’ on with burns like these.
