Apple Patent Looks Into Using WiFi Routers For Wireless Charging

A popular rumor regarding this year’s iPhone is that Apple could finally be introducing wireless charging to the handset. Now wireless charging has been around for a while now, although many believe that Apple’s solution could offer up “true” wireless charging without the use of charging mats.

Exactly how will this work remains to be seen, but the folks at AppleInsider have come across a patent filed by Apple that explores one possible method. In this particular patent, it talks about how Apple has experimented with various wireless charging techniques, such as how they could potentially draw power from devices like WiFi routers to charging their phones.

The patent also talks about dual-polarization, dual-frequency patch antennas which in theory should be able to offer up a longer range while charging, meaning that one day you could walk around your house with your phone in hand while it charges wirelessly. However given that this is only a patent, there’s no telling if this is a technology Apple is already working on, or if it is something that they’re merely exploring.

Like we said it’s hard to tell what sort of tech Apple could use for its wireless charging feature for the iPhone when it is launched, but here’s hoping it’ll be something more convenient than a wireless charging mat. We’re sure iPhone fans did not wait years for the feature only to be given something that has already existed, right?

B&O Unveils The Beoplay P2 Portable Speaker

There are dozens, if not hundreds, or portable speakers available in the market today, so the question is how portable do you want it, what kind of design are you after, and how much are you willing to spend? If aesthetics are a priority, then you might be interested to learn that Bang & Olufsen has taken the wraps off its latest portable speaker in the form of the Beoplay P2.

Staying true to the company’s design roots, the Beoplay P2 has been pretty simplistically designed. It looks clean and minimalist and if those are the aesthetics you are going for, then these might be the speakers for you. In terms of specs, the P2 will feature a 0.75-inch tweeter and can blast sound out in 360-degrees, so placing it in the middle of the room should help fill it with audio, although admittedly given its size don’t expect too much.

With the Beoplay P2, the company has done away with pretty much all physical playback controls. Instead users will have to turn to the Beoplay app to control it. However if you’d rather not, not to worry as the shell of the speaker responds to touch, where you can double tap it or shake it to control music playback.

In terms of pricing, the Beoplay P2 is pretty pricey for its size as it is priced at $169. Then again this is Bang & Olufsen we’re talking about so no surprises there.

Super Mario Run Has Been Downloaded Nearly 150 Million Times

While Super Mario Run wasn’t Nintendo’s first mobile gaming efforts, it did represent for the first time Mario was available on mobile devices in an official capacity, and the numbers certainly show just that. According to Nintendo’s latest financials, it was revealed that the game has since been downloaded nearly 150 million times.

Last we checked, which was back in January earlier this year, Super Mario Run was downloaded 78 million times, so for Nintendo nearly double that amount in 3 months is pretty impressive. However we guess the fact that it was later released on Android did help a bit with those numbers.

Unfortunately as you might have heard, the sales of the game did not meet the company’s expectations. In case you don’t know, Super Mario Run is a free game where you get to experience the first few levels of the game for free, and after that you’ll need to pay $10 to unlock everything else.

$10 is a bit steep considering that there are plenty of mobile games that cost considerably less, and it is also a possible reason why the game isn’t selling as well as it could have, and it also doesn’t look like Nintendo will be lowering the price anytime soon either.

Microsoft says don’t manually install Windows 10 Creators Update

Now this is a first. It’s barely been a month since Microsoft opened the Creators Update floodgates and reception is rather lukewarm. In the past, Microsoft would be very aggressive in getting users to update to the latest version of Windows 10. This time, however, it is taking things slowly. Almost too slowly for some, which has lead those to … Continue reading

Lana Del Rey And Stevie Nicks To Cast A Joint Musical Spell On Upcoming Album

Confirmed witch Lana Del Rey and former Fleetwood Mac siren Stevie Nicks have collaborated on a track appearing on the former’s upcoming album, “Lust for Life,” Billboard reports.

No other information is available about the song, which spells were involved in its creation, or whether listening to it backwards reveals a secret message, according to the site. While Del Rey, who recently joined a global effort to hex President Donald Trump, may occasionally delve into blacker arts, it is thought that Nicks, a guest star on “American Horror Story: Coven,” uses her powers only for good.

The album, which features the single “Love,” will be out “soon,” according to an announcement posted March 29 showing Del Rey flaunting her inner Samantha Stephens.

With a less melancholic Del Rey on its cover, it’s set to include a couple other collaborations: one with The Weeknd, on the title track, and another with Sean Ono Lennon, which includes a lyric referencing his famous parents.

Leslie Jones Talks 'Cash Me Ousside Girl' With Dr. Phil, And It's Hilarious

Leslie Jones and Dr. Phil were scheduled to play a game on Wednesday’s “Tonight Show,” but the actress and comedian had other plans.

The “Saturday Night Live” favorite first wanted to discuss the “Cash Me Ousside Girl” aka 14-year-old Danielle Bregoli. Bregoli, a guest on Dr. Phil’s show, has shot to fame for her misbehavior and catch phrases such as “Cash me ousside” and “how about dah.”

“You all trying to fix her with psychology,” Jones told Dr. Phil. “She need a 2-by-4.”

The two did eventually get around to playing that game of “truth or lie.” And Jones stole the show there, too. She prompted host Jimmy Fallon to walk off the set after her bawdy talk about a chase at a McDonald’s drive-thru.

How about dah?

Street Artist Uses Awesome Spray Paint Skills To Unveil HuffPost's New Logo

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

A British street artist just gave HuffPost a helping hand in unveiling its new logo.

Jody Thomas celebrated the HuffPost rebrand launch on Tuesday by incorporating the new emblem into one of his pieces in Bristol, southwest England.

He spent hours meticulously spray-painting one of his signature, photo-realistic hands onto a wall in the Bedminster neighborhood ― and finished it off with a stencil of HuffPost’s logo.

We captured the entire mesmerizing process in the above time-lapse video and live-streamed the final 20 minutes of the project via Facebook:

The 43-year-old artist braved varying chilly weather conditions of sunshine, wind and rain to complete his work. But he said, “I really enjoyed the whole day.”

The Facebook broadcast was delayed for 20 minutes as heavy showers struck the area. Luckily it cleared up soon after, giving the wall sufficient time to dry and Thomas enough of a gap to finish the final 10 percent of the piece.

“In good old British fashion, we were almost scuppered by the weather,” joked the Bristol-based artist. “But at least we didn’t get caught in the biblical hail storm that struck afterwards.”

Thomas began painting at the city’s celebrated Barton Hill youth center around 1988 — alongside other notable artists such as Inkie, Cheo and the world-famous (but still elusive) Banksy.

He stepped away from the scene around 1990 to study and work in graphic design. But Thomas returned to street art in the late 2000s after being misquoted in a book that said he was coming back. He’s since exhibited his work in New York City and London.

Thomas will feature alongside 300 other painters from more than 40 countries at “Upfest” — Europe’s largest live street art and graffiti festival — in the Bedminster area from July 29 to 31.

You can check out more of his work on either of his websites or his Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
