Samsung Confirms Plans For New Flagship Smartphone Later This Year

It is without a doubt that Samsung will be carrying on with their tradition of launching a new flagship smartphone later this year. Many expect that it will be the Galaxy Note 8, but just in case you needed confirmation, how about hearing it straight from the source? During the company’s first quarter financial results, they also confirmed their smartphone plans.

According to Samsung’s press release, “For the mobile business, market competition is expected to intensify in the second half. Against this backdrop, the company will strive to maintain profitability through robust sales of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and the launch of a new flagship smartphone in the second half.”

The company did not specifically mention the Note 8, but the company has stated in the past that they do plan to continue its Note handsets, so it makes sense that the Note 8 will be the next flagship on its list. In fact recently the IFA Executive Director was quoted as saying that he hoped that Samsung would use their event as the platform for the announcement.

Not much is known about the Note 8 for now, but we can expect that it should continue to offer up S Pen functionality as one of its selling points. We can also expect Samsung to utilize the same design language found on the Galaxy S8/S8+ and maybe even improve on it, but this is something we’ll just have to wait and see.

Heroes Of The Storm Skins Will Be Added To Overwatch

With the launch of Heroes of the Storm 2.0, Blizzard added some Overwatch characters into the game, and also introduced what appeared to be skins that were available to gamers who played Heroes of the Storm. For gamers who play console games exclusively, this meant that they had no way of accessing those skins, and some console players have since voiced out their frustration.

However the good news is that Overwatch’s director Jeff Kaplan has since reassured console gamers that these skins will be added to Overwatch loot boxes in the future. In a post on the forums, Kaplan said, “We completely understand that there are some players who do not own or have access to a PC to play Heroes of the Storm. Because of this, we plan to add both the Oni Genji skin and the Officer D.Va skin to the normal, base Overwatch loot box at some point in the future.”

However if you do own a PC, you should check it out even if it is just for the skins. Heroes of the Storm is a free download and you only need to pay if you want to purchase characters or skins, although right now there is a free promotion running that lets gamers redeem 20 heroes for free.

Nintendo Switch Could Beat Wii U’s Lifetime Sales In Its First Year

The Nintendo Switch has been selling very well, so well that it could potentially beat out the number of units the Wii U sold in its lifetime. That’s according to Nintendo’s latest financials in which they are predicting that they could sell another 10 million Nintendo Switch consoles by this time next year.

Combine this with the 2.74 million units that they have sold since its release until now, it makes it shy of 13 million units which according to Engadget, puts it almost on par with Wii U which back in 2015, managed to hit 10 million units sold in its lifetime, and that’s only after 3 years of it being in the market.

There is no doubt that the Switch is outdoing its predecessor. Initial sales figures for Japan alone revealed that the Switch had already outsold the Wii U during its first week, so for the Switch to potentially outsell the Wii U isn’t really a stretch of the imagination. In fact if anything it feels more like an eventuality.

However the question is whether or not it’ll be able to accomplish that feat in its first year is a different story. In the meantime there are games coming out for the Switch that will no doubt help boost its sales, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros., and Super Mario Odyssey.

There’s a Windows 10 smartwatch you can’t have

Two of the three (or four) major software platforms are on smartwatches. There’s Android Wear and there’s Apple watchOS. For years, Microsoft fans have been waiting and crying out for a Windows-powered wearable. After the short live of the Microsoft Band, that possibility seemed dead in the water. Well, not anymore. Sort of. The good news: there is indeed an … Continue reading

Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff are taking a break from the norm, and reuniting for their first live performance together in what seems like forever.

The hip-hop duo, who starred in hit ’90s show “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air,” will perform at MTV’s Summerblast Festival in Croatia on Aug. 26 and the Livewire Festival in Blackpool, northwest England, the following day.

Smith revealed the news via Facebook on Monday:

After Smith wrote that the “first two shows are locked,” it prompted speculation that the duo would be reuniting for other events in the near future. The stars have yet to confirm if they’ll perform at any other events.

The revival comes after last month’s reunion of “Fresh Prince” cast members Smith, Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Vivian ’93-’96) and Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey).

Jazzy Jeff, whose real name is Jeff Townes, made guest appearances on the show but he was not in attendance.

Ribeiro shared this snap of the reunion to Instagram, and paid tribute to James Avery (Uncle Phil), who died in December 2013:

Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family. Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete.

The New Burger Recipes You Need To Switch Things Up

The weather is warming up and that means that grilling season is upon us. There are many great meals you can fire on the grill, but none as beloved as the classic burger. In honor of this season, we gathered some epic burger recipes.

You might think the burger too simple a food to warrant an entire collection of recipes, but you’d be dead wrong. The simple burger, you see, doesn’t have to simple at all. In fact, it can be topped with flavors from all over the world, wrapped in a bacon weave or even stuffed with brie cheese.

It’s time to rethink the burger, and these are the recipes that’ll help you do just that.

How To Prepare And Trim An Artichoke So You Can Actually EAT It

Artichokes are one of the jewels of springtime produce. But rarely do home cooks make them. It’s understandable ― their spiny leaves can be intimidating, both on the outside and the inside. But there’s something you should remember: you’ve got the upper hand because you’re wielding a knife.

With a knife in one hand and an artichoke in the other, you can rid this vegetal flower of its prickly leaves in one efficient chop of the knife. The first step: Just lay the artichoke on its side and chop off the top quarter. That will cut off most of the ends of the leaves. For leaves found closer to the base that still have their prickly tips, just snip off those tips off with kitchen shears.

Ta-da, your artichoke is now harmless.

Now that you’ve taken care of the outer leaves, there’s just one more challenge to face: getting rid of the sharp fuzz that protects the heart deep inside the artichoke. The heart is the best part, and the artichoke knows this and fiercely protects it.

We’re not going to lie, this is tricky. It requires patience and determination, but if the reward of an artichoke heart doesn’t provide you with that, nothing will.

First, you need to cook the artichoke. You can steam it, boil it or even bake it. Then once your artichoke has cooked and cooled off to the point where you can handle it without burning yourself, you must dive into the heart:

  • Peel off the outer leaves one by one, eventually revealing the soft leaves underneath (see below ― they’re yellow-ish in color).
  • Remove those leaves by gently tugging them out.
  • Then you’re left with a fuzzy white layer (also known as the choke) ― with a spoon, carefully scoop out the fuzz without digging too deep into the heart.

As you can see in this image below, once you get started removing the choke there’s a clear place where it ends and the heart starts. With that insight, you’ll find that this task is infinitely easier than it seems.

Note that you can also repeat this entire process on an uncooked artichoke, but it’s a little more difficult (and prickly).

Now, dig in!

How The Reducetarian Diet Could Help Solve Our Climate Change Problem

There is scientific-backed research that proves the detrimental impact our meat-eating ways have on the environment. In fact, it’s been found that a widespread switch to vegetarianism would cut carbon emissions by nearly two-thirds. It’s why the United Nations has been urging people to eat less meat for roughly 9 years now, but still, here we are. The only problem is, not everyone is ready to give up meat.

For those of you who aren’t ready to take the meat-free plunge, Brian Kateman has a suggestion: become a reducetarian.

Kateman, who has a masters in conservation biology, has made it his goal to encourage others to simply eat fewer animal products, and less of them. That’s why he established the Reducetarian Foundation (RF) and edited the recently published the new book, The Reducetarian Solution. He says that by simply setting actionable goals to reduce our animal product intake we can increase the wellbeing of our animals, improve human health and protect our planet

Those actionable goals can be as small or as big as what works for you. It can mean joining in on Meatless Monday. It can be trying out Mark Bittman’s Vegan before 6. Or it can simply mean skipping the bacon on your burger. The goal is to “mindfully and gradually reduce [one’s consumption of meat with respect to their own diet,” as the RF outlines on their website.

The problem with the reducetarian diet is the same one that disillusioned voters face on Election Day: what difference is my small action (or vote) going to make? According to RF, a whole lot. Watch their video for more details:

The reducetarian diet might not cut our meat consumption enough to make a 2/3 decrease in emissions, but it at least it provides what feels like a feasible goal in the right direction.
