OnePlus is gradually confirming more details about its next flagship smartphone but the company is yet to confirm when the handset is going to arrive and how much it’s going to cost. Rumors about the OnePlus 5 release date are now floating around. We heard recently that the OnePlus 5 release might take place in June and the latest report reiterates that possibility.
A purported poster that allegedly confirms the OnePlus 5 release date has been leaked online from China. The leak apparently comes from someone who has a good track record with these things, so there might be some truth to it after all.
If this poster is to be believed, the OnePlus 5 is going to be official on June 15th. This isn’t the first time we’re hearing this date. A leaked internal email from OnePlus also suggested that the handset will be official on June 15th.
As for what customers will get for their money, the OnePlus 5 is expected to feature a 5.5 inch full HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB of RAM, and a dual camera system on the back.
OnePlus hasn’t confirmed the date on which its new flagship smartphone will be official. If it’s going to do that on June 15th then we should hear from the company soon enough. Right now, it’s just asking people to vote on the box design that it should choose for the OnePlus 5.

Sony has confirmed today when customers in the United States will be able to purchase its new flagship smartphone. It has confirmed the Xperia XZ Premium price and release date for the United States. The company will start taking pre-orders for this device through major retailers starting next month and will also release the handset in June.
Sony unveiled the Xperia XZ Premium at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in February. It’s a high-end device with great specifications and a price tag to match.
The Xperia XZ Premium has a 5.5 inch 4K LCD display with High Dynamic Range support and Gorilla Glass 5. Underneath the display, there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The device runs on Android 7.1 Nougat.
Sony has also added a 19 megapixel rear camera to the device that’s capable of recording slow-motion video at 960 frames-per-second. The handset features a 3,230mAh battery. It does have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor in the U.S. like the other variants do.
The Xperia XZ Premium will be available in Luminous Chrome, Bronze Pink, and Deepsea Black colors. It will work on GSM carriers in the country, carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T.
Interested customers can place a pre-order for the Xperia XZ Premium starting June 12th via Amazon, Best Buy, Fry’s, and other retailers. The handset will be unlocked and off-contract with a price tag of $799.99. It will be released the following week.

OnePlus fans are anxiously waiting for more information about the company’s next flagship smartphone. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has provided a bit of information today which concerns the company’s existing handsets. Lau has confirmed that the next major Android release, currently referred to as Android O, will be coming to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T when it finally goes live later this year.
Lau confirmed over Twitter that people were asking him about Android O being released for these handsets so he thought it was prudent to confirm that the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will both be updated to Android O when the time comes.
OnePlus released the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T last year. Both handsets were running Android 6.0 Marshmallow when they arrived. Since Android devices are covered for major updates for at least two years, it’s not surprising to know that they will get the Android O update in due time.
You can imagine that this announcement hasn’t made a lot of OnePlus 2 owners happy. They would like to get Android O for their handsets as well but since their devices are over two years old, it’s unlikely that OnePlus is going to release the update for that handset.
Lau obviously didn’t say when the Android O update will be released for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, that’s because Google hasn’t confirmed when it will release this update. It hasn’t even confirmed what Android O is going to be called officially.
A lot of you have been asking, so I’m proud to say Android O will come to OnePlus 3 and 3T.

The world isn’t quite over the frenzy that Pokemon Go put it in yet and now we hear that there’s going to be a new Pokemon game for smartphones. One has just been launched by The Pokemon Company for iOS and Android. The company has decided to call this game Pokeland and it has only released it in limited beta and that too for players in Japan only at this point in time.
Pokeland isn’t a Pokemon Go sequel. It’s actually different from the augmented reality game that has taken the world by storm. Pokeland is an entirely different kind of game. It will make players fight with monsters across various levels.
The game is eventually going to feature 134 Pokemons spread across 54 levels on six different islands. The game currently allows beta players to access the first 15 levels only.
Ambrella has developed this game for iOS and Android. It’s the same studio that developed Pokemon Rumble for Nintendo Wii, WiiU and 3DS. Players need to keep in mind that they will need an internet connection to play this game and that they can use their Nintendo Account to sign in.
As previously mentioned, Pokeland is only available in Japan at this point in time and that too for the first 10,000 users who are able to download the app for iOS or Android. The beta ends June 9th so it remains to be seen if Pokeland is released internationally after that.

Microsoft has more or less bowed out of the smartphone market. The company took a hit on its acquisition of Nokia’s smartphone business and it hasn’t released any new devices in quite some time. It’s believed that the company is trying to come up with an entirely new vision for smartphones and that’s obviously going to take time. We’ve recently been seeing photos of Lumia smartphones that were never released and now photos of the Lumia 960 flagship handset have leaked online.
If Microsoft ever released this smartphone, it would have been the successor to the Lumia 950 flagship, which was one of the best smartphones that Microsoft made back when it was still making them.
The codename for this device was reportedly Northstar and it’s said to be a successor to the Lumia 950. The technical specifications are unknown but the prototype does feature a Snapdragon 820 processor with a Quad HD display.
Even though Microsoft won’t be releasing this as a consumer device anytime soon, a report points out that this device is still being used internally at Microsoft as an engineering prototype for developing Windows 10 Mobile.
It does look like a quintessential Lumia smartphone even if it’s just a prototype. Who knows if it would have been released already had Microsoft not decided to take a break from making smartphones.

Activision decided to sweeten the deal for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare customers by bundling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered with some versions of the new title. The only caveat here is that those who wanted to play the latter without having to buy the former were out of luck as Activision wasn’t selling the remastered version by itself. If a new rumor is believed, Activision may soon launch Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a standalone game.
There’s a listing up now on Amazon Japan which suggests that this popular 2007 first-person shooter game will be released as a standalone title. The listing is for the standalone version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and it mentions that the standalone title will be out on June 20th, 2017.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about this. Gamefly had a similar listing up on its website earlier this month. It even had the same exact release date. Anther listing was later spotted which suggested that the Xbox One version of this standalone title would be released a full month after it arrives on PlayStation 4, so that’s going to be July 20th.
Activision hasn’t commented on these reports and hasn’t confirmed if this is going to happen. Those who want to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered right now have to purchase the Digital Deluxe, Legacy, Legacy Pro, or Legacy editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare with prices starting at $79.99.
