Samsung Chromebook Pro Now Available For Purchase

Samsung unveiled two new Chrome OS-powered notebooks back at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in January this year. The Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Pro were both unveiled in January. Samsung released the Chromebook Plus soon after it was launched but the Chromebook Pro’s release was delayed a couple of times. Those who have been meaning to pick one up will be delighted to know that the Chromebook Pro is finally available for purchase starting today.

The Chromebook Pro is Samsung’s high-end Chrome OS-powered notebook. It’s powered by the Intel Core M3 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage. It also features a 12.3 inch 2400×1600 pixel resolution display with a 3:2 aspect ratio.

One of the biggest selling points of this notebook is that it has support for Android apps. However, that’s also the reason why the release of this notebook was delayed. Google required more time to fine tune the Android app experience on Chrome OS. Once that was done, Samsung could release the notebook.

Interested customers in the United States can head over to Samsung’s own website or Amazon to purchase the Chromebook pro. It has been priced at $549 which is $100 more than the Chromebook Plus. It’s likely that the notebook will be made available for purchase from other retailers in the near future as well.

The company’s new flagship smartphone is being anticipated by its fans across the globe as they wait to see what sort of flagship killer OnePlus comes out with this year. The OnePlus referral program has now been launched for all customers who have purchased one of the company’s smartphones directly from its website. Study Finds WhatsApp Groups Helps Students Express Themselves Better

There are plenty of ways for students to form discussion groups via digital means. This can be done on forums, apps like Skype, or even WhatsApp. In fact it seems that maybe WhatsApp could be the way to go because a recent study found that students who participate in WhatsApp group chats can express themselves better.

Apparently this is due to the freedom that they have when it comes to expressing themselves, and because of that it will allow them to develop closer and open relationship with their peers. The study involved two groups of youths aged 16-17 and 14-15, and found that the youths felt that WhatsApp helped to break down the hierarchical division created in school.

Speaking to nocamels.com, Arie Kizel from University of Haifa in Israel said, “The group chats are based on trust among the members of the group, and this enhances the possibility to be in contact. The discussions on Whatsapp enable the development of a social environment that is warm and human.”

We’re not sure if this is only for WhatsApp or if other chat/messenger apps are just as viable, but it’s interesting to see how technology these days is helping people communicate with each other more easily than before.

Final Fantasy VII Remake’s Development Will Be Shifted In-House

By now most gamers are probably aware of the fact that Final Fantasy VII is getting a remake. However it seems that prior to this, the game was apparently being developed by both Square Enix and with the help and support from third-party developers, but that has changed as Square has since opted to shift it all in-house.

This was originally reported by Gematsu who picked up on the news during a livestream event. It was also revealed that Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII main programmer Haoki Hamaguchi will be the one leading the development on the Final Fantasy VII Remake, but at this point in time a release date has yet to be confirmed.

According to Hamaguchi, “I’ve taken charge on the development side for Final Fantasy VII Remake. As for the whole story, (it’s a sensitive topic, but) until now, development was moving forward with external cooperation, but the company has decided to shift to an internal setup, including mass production and quality, because we want to control everything, including quality, on a stable schedule. (I won’t be leaving Mobius Final Fantasy.)”

So far the Final Fantasy VII Remake is set for a release on the Sony PS4 console. We’re not sure if there are plans to eventually bring it to other consoles, but we guess we’ll have to wait for its release first whenever that happens.

Capcom Preparing Limited Edition Monster Hunter XX For The Switch

So Capcom recently announced that they will be bringing Monster Hunter XX onto the Nintendo Switch. Now for fans of the franchise who are looking forward to the game, if you guys are big enough fans or maybe hardcore enough, you might be pleased to learn that there will be a limited edition copy of the game as well.

This limited edition copy of Monster Hunter XX will include a copy of the game, a mini shoulder bag, Creators Selection soundtrack with five songs, a production notebook similar to the 3DS version from earlier this year, and for those who purchase on the e-Capcom store will get one of nine Renkin Style Acrylic Dot Mascots selected at random.

Monster Hunter is one of the franchises that many gamers are looking forward to coming onto the Nintendo Switch, and we guess this is very welcome news indeed. The game has been mostly limited to handheld consoles, but given the Switch’s hybrid nature where it can double as a handheld and as a home console, it makes sense.

Monster Hunter XX is set for a release later this year on the 25th of August, 2017, so do keep an eye out for the limited edition pack if it’s something you might be interested in.

U.S. Laptop Ban May Cover All International Flights

There has been much talk about the laptop ban that the United States enforced earlier this year on flights to the country from eight countries. It was said that the ban could be extended to flights departing Europe as well. We recently heard reports that an extension to cover flights departing the U.S. was being considered as well. The latest report suggests that the Department of Homeland Security is essentially considering a blanket ban on laptops being carried in the cabin on all flights to and from the country.

Earlier this year, the United States banned electronic devices bigger than smartphones on all flights originating from eight countries and headed to the U.S. Passengers on those flights can no longer take laptops or tablets with them in the cabin, they have to check in their devices.

In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said that airlines continue to face a “sophisticated threat” from terrorists that plot to bring down flights headed to the United States.

The Department is reportedly considering extending this ban to all flights departing and coming to the United States. A final decision has not yet been taken but is expected to arrive in the near future.

While there was much talk of the ban being extended to Europe, that plans seems to have been set aside at this point in time, so it remains to be seen whether or not the administration ends up doing that.

New ARM Processors Have Been Built For Powering Artificial Intelligence

ARM has arrived at Computex 2017 with a couple of new smartphone processors that it has developed with the express purpose of powering artificial intelligence-based solutions on mobile devices. That’s not surprising at all given that artificial intelligence is in vogue these days and as the industry makes a shift towards this technology, we can expect companies like ARM to follow suit as well.

ARM claims that its new Cortex-A75 CPU core delivers laptop-level performance without using any more power than existing mobile processors. The company says that compared to the previous A73 core, the new CPU core provides a 50 percent increase in performance.

The company’s new A55 CPU core is said to be 2.5 times as power efficient as the current A53 core which is an impressive improvement for a mid-range CPU. Both of the new processors rely on ARM’s “DynamIQ” foundation, it’s that design which enables the processors to be used in a variety of applications.

It’s different from ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture in the sense that it doesn’t pair an equal number of high-powered CPU cores with low-powered ones. DynamIQ works with up to eight completely different cores so one powerful core can be coupled with mid-range or lower-power cores as required.

ARM has also introduced its new Mali-G72 graphics core at Computex 2017. It’s more power efficient than its predecessor and also promises 17 percent more efficiency at machine learning processes.

Even though these processor cores have been announced today, they won’t be available in consumer devices before 2018.

Far Cry 5 Story Will Be Dynamic Unlike Previous Titles

After confirming that it’s going to release Far Cry 5 in the coming months, Ubisoft released the first official trailer for Far Cry 5 last week. The trailer confirmed that the game would have a rural U.S. setting with the action taking place in Montana. The company has now revealed some more details about the upcoming Far Cry game.

Ubisoft Creative Director Dan Hay revealed in a video interview with YouTube channel UbiCentral that Far Cry 5 story is going to be dynamic and not linear like previous titles in the franchise.

Without revealing specifics, Hay said that “the map is big!” He also mentioned that when players are going through the game’s world, they will be altering it in a dynamic way. The experience will be different compared to previous Far Cry games which provided a feeling of a linear story.

Far Cry 5 will allow gamers to alter the gameplay experience in their own way so they can spend a lot of time in one region or spend too much time playing with one character. It will be entirely up to them.

The artificial intelligence-powered characters in the game will be smarter. So if you hit an enemy hard, it’s going to hit back at you harder. Far Cry 5’s dynamic AI is going to track the player’s effect in the game and alter the enemy’s strategy against them.

More will be revealed about Far Cry 5 in the coming weeks. Far Cry 5 is due for release on February 27th, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
