'Deferential' Kellyanne Conway Says Her Gender Helps With Trump

Kellyanne Conway told Business Insider that her gender “helps” when dealing with boss Donald Trump as long as she’s “very deferential.”

“I think there’s a femininity that is attached to the way one carries herself or the way one executes on her duties,” the president’s counselor said in the interview published Sunday.

“I could tell you a great way that my gender has helped me with the president,” she said. “I’m actually unafraid to express my mind, but I do it very respectfully — very respectfully and very deferentially.”

And she also often serves it up with a “big smile,” she said last year.

Conway said that she considers Trump not only her boss but her “elder.”

“I don’t consider [Trump] my peer. He is my boss and he is my elder,” Conway said. “That has actually allowed me, in my view, to respectfully but forcefully express my opinion on certain matters.”

Conway, 50, presents an unusual figure in the White House. She can appear to be coquettish and sometimes wears eye-popping clothing color strikingly different from the typically more conservative fashion of a working woman.

She was called out earlier this year on Twitter when she curled her legs beneath her on a couch in the Oval Office to snap photos of visiting heads of historically black governors with the president.

She considers herself “post-feminist, anti-feminist and non-feminist,” she said in the interview, because she believes feminists are “anti-male.”

She’s not big on the concept of sexism, except when the media calls her out, which she considers sexist. She recently blasted Anderson Cooper as sexist for an eye roll while he was interviewing her. It occurred as a testy Conway confusingly attempted to explain Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey among the shifting sands at the time of White House reasons.

Sexism has not been the case for Hillary Clinton, however, Conway insists. “Let me tell you,” she said in a Fox interview,  “Hillary Clinton is in search of sexism as a lame excuse for why her disastrous candidacy and campaign lost six months ago.”

There are only a smattering of women in a White House overwhelmingly dominated by white men. Only four of 24 Cabinet posts are filled by women, while more than 50 percent of the population is female.

“Attaching a hard and fast number to it is not as relevant as the contributions that are made by the woman who are at the table,”  Conway insisted to Business Insider.

“We’re heard and we’re seen and we’re listened to and we are sought out and sought after for our opinions and our judgment and our ideas and our insight.”

Trump told The New York Times in an interview last year that his then-campaign press secretary Hope Hicks gave him advice “in a very low-key manner so it doesn’t necessarily come in the form of advice. It’s delivered very nicely.”

Baltimore Mayor Says City Will 'Look To' Removing Confederate Monuments

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Days after New Orleans officials removed a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, the last of four Confederate monuments the city promised to take down, Baltimore’s mayor said she would look to follow “in the footsteps” of The Big Easy.

In an interview with the Baltimore Sun, mayor Catherine Pugh said, “The city does want to remove these. We will take a closer look at how we go about following in the footsteps of New Orleans.”

Pugh’s predecessor, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, originally commissioned a review of the city’s Confederate monuments and an inquiry into how to remove them. She did not order for the removal of any of the statues, instead punting the decision to Pugh.

Before leaving office, the Baltimore Sun reported Rawlings-Blake placed signs in front of four Confederate monuments that called the statues “part of a propaganda campaign of national pro-Confederate organizations.”

Pugh’s decision to revive the city’s inquiry into removing the statues will likely be met with protest. New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu (D) received death threats over his ruling to remove four statues. But in a speech some have heralded as historic, Landrieu doubled down on his commitment to removing statues that symbolize white supremacy.

“These statues are not just stone and metal,” Landrieu said before a crowd. “They are not just innocent remembrances of a benign history. These monuments purposefully celebrate a fictional, sanitized Confederacy, ignoring the death, ignoring the enslavement and the terror that it actually stood for.”

Watch the full speech here.

ARM's new mobile processors are built for AI on the go

When ARM showed up at Computex last year, it brought a bundle of smartphone processors that pushed for better mobile VR. As you might’ve noticed, though, AI is one of the big new trends in mobile this year — is it any surprise that the ARM’s pu…

Zepp phone apps use AI to study your basketball shots

You may know Zepp for sports tracking sensors you can slap on your baseball bat or soccer ball, but its latest tracking involves little more than your phone and a good view of the action. Its game recording and training apps (Android, iOS) are adding…

Could The Next Warcraft Game Be Released On Mobile?

So we know that Blizzard has plans to expand its mobile titles. Hearthstone is a good example of Blizzard bringing games to mobile, and we’ve also seen them expand the World of Warcraft’s mobile capabilities via a companion app. Just last month it also seemed like there were plans for more mobile titles thanks a job listing.

However back then it wasn’t clear what kind of games Blizzard could have planned for mobile, but now a more recent job listing suggests that maybe Blizzard could be thinking of bringing more Warcraft-related titles onto smartphones. This is because the job listing mentions the Warcraft IP specifically.

Now we’re not sure if this means that we’ll be getting more World of Warcraft related companion apps, or if Blizzard might have a game designed specifically for phones based on the Warcraft franchise, but then again it could be just about anything. Also Blizzard tends to take a while to develop their games so we guess it could be a while before we see anything.

If and when Blizzard does announce a new title, we suppose it will probably be at BlizzCon 2017 which is scheduled to take place later this year, until then gamers will just have to remain patient.

Monster Hunter XX For Switch Set For August 25 Release

So earlier we reported that Capcom had announced that Monster Hunter XX would be coming to the Nintendo Switch, and now it looks like more details about the game have emerged. For starters we now have a release date which is set for the 25th of August, 2017 in Japan, which means that those of us stateside will have to wait for a localized version.

However as we had previously mentioned, the Nintendo Switch is region-free which means that gamers in other countries can access the stores of other countries. So if you’re so inclined, you can actually set your store for Japan and access the game upon its release, but like we said it won’t be localized so you’ll have to figure out the menu for yourselves.

In addition, it also seems that gamers who own the 3DS version of the game can play with those on the Switch. This means that your friends who didn’t buy the game on the Switch or own a Switch won’t have to buy a new console just to play with each other. The Switch version will also come with Full HD 1080p support in both docked and handheld modes.

In the meantime for those who are looking forward to the game can check out the trailer in the video above.

Nintendo Expected To Boost Switch Production Even More

From what we can tell based on the sales figures of the Nintendo Switch, the console seems to be quite a hit amongst consumers. So much so that in some markets, Nintendo is having a hard time keeping up with the demand of the console to the point where a report from the Financial Times (via Engadget) is claiming that the company will be boosting production.

Assuming their sources are accurate, Nintendo is expected to boost production by an additional 2 million units for its current fiscal year that ends in March 2018. This brings the total number of units the company expects to produce up to 18 million, which is 2 million more than what the Wall Street Journal had previously estimated.

The reason for the boost? Obviously it is to meet demand, but it is also to prevent “custom tantrums” for the holiday season, where Nintendo is probably trying to prevent its customers from reacting negatively should the console run out of stock during the holidays. They are also looking to avoid a situation where the launch of Super Mario Odyssey in November is hampered by the lack of available Switch units.

Presumably this is because Nintendo is hoping that the launch of the game will encourage gamers to buy the console, much like how Zelda’s Breath of the Wild has had a near one-to-one attachment rate.

Sana Sleep Goggles Will Be Available In 2018

There are many reasons why people find it difficult to fall asleep. It could be due to stress at work or school, or maybe the coffee they shouldn’t have had at 10pm at night, but like we said, these are just examples of some of the reasons why. However come 2018 and for $400, we might have an answer to insomnia.

Dubbed the Sana Sleep mask, this is a pair of goggles developed by Sana Health that apparently will promise the wearer a peaceful 10 minutes worth of sleep. We know that 10 minutes isn’t long, but it has been said that a proper and restful 10 minutes is more effective compared to a longer nap which isn’t quite as restful.

How does it work? For starters we guess the fact that it blocks out light plays a role. However it also offers up audio and visual stimulation that is said to promote a good sleep and will put the wearer into a deep state of relaxation. It can even monitor your nervous system to help personalize the experience and suit your needs.

Unfortunately the Sana Sleep mask does not come cheap as it will be priced at $400. The company recently managed to close a round of seed funding and is expecting to work towards mass producing the headset where it should be available in the second quarter of 2018.

Google To Work With Vietnamese Government In Removing Toxic Content

Due to the different laws around the world, companies who wish to operate on a global scale need to be aware of these laws and adhere by them. A good example would be Google who in a report from Reuters, will now be working with the Vietnamese government in removing “toxic” content from its platform.

Basically content that the government deems to be inappropriate will now be removed, or at least Google will entertain the idea of working with the government in seeing what sort of content can or cannot be removed. This follows a call by the government earlier in the year which pressured local advertising firms to hold off on advertising on platforms such as Facebook and YouTube until this “offensive” content can be dealt with.

In a meeting between Alphabet’s Chairman Eric Schmidt and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, “Mr. Eric Schmidt said (he) will tightly cooperate with Vietnam to remove toxic information violating Vietnamese laws and will consider opening a representative office in the country.”

However Google has stated that they currently have no plans of opening up an office in the country. In a statement made by spokesman Taj Meadows, “We have clear policies for removal requests from governments around the world, and those policies have not changed. We rely on governments to notify us of content that they believe is illegal through official processes, and where appropriate, will restrict it after a thorough review.”

Pokemon GO Cheaters Will Be Shadowbanned

Nobody likes cheaters and developers have been working on all sorts of ways to deal with them. The most obvious and probably the most effective way is to outright ban accounts that have been found to be cheating, but there exists other methods that could prove to be useful as well, such as the shadowban, which is what Niantic is doing to Pokemon GO cheaters.

In a post on Reddit, Niantic has confirmed that the gameplay of gamers who have been found to be cheating or trying to trick the system will be affected. While the company hasn’t explicitly stated that it is a shadowban, it sounds pretty much like one, although it is unclear if this is a permanent ban or a temporary one. Previous the developer was just perma-banning gamers.

According to Niantic, “We’re committed to maintaining the state of Pokémon GO and our community of Trainers. People who violate the Pokémon GO Terms of Service (including by using third party software and other cheats) may have their gameplay affected and may not be able to see all the Pokémon around them.”

Based on some of the comments, there are gamers who aren’t too happy about this. One of the reasons is because some of them use third-party apps not to cheat, but to manage their Pokemon better, although technically it still does violate the game’s TOS. Some players believe that this could lead to gamers to stop playing the game entirely, but we guess we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.
