Dark Phoenix Could Be Searching for a Younger Version of an X-Men Mainstay

Wonder Woman gets another new TV spot. It looks like Robert Zemeckis is definitely not directing The Flash. One major character will not be a part of any show in the Arrow universe next season. Plus, new pictures from Valerian and The Dark Tower, another Stan Lee cameo, and a new teaser for Twin Peaks. To me, my…

Why These 'Revolutionary' Phones Failed So Hard

Every year, gadget companies like to flaunt out their latest flagship smartphones and show off all of the “revolutionary” features that will make this slab of glass and metal different from the nearly-identical looking slab of glass and metal already in our pockets.

SpaceX Just Performed Its Most Mysterious Mission Yet

After a literal last-minute cancellation yesterday, SpaceX successfully launched and landed a Falcon 9 rocket earlier this morning in Cape Canaveral, Florida. While the details on most of SpaceX’s missions are very public, this one was purposely shrouded in mystery: the rocket was ferrying up a spy satellite, the…

This Deku Tree Piescraper Belongs in Legend of Zelda: The Pie Baker

What’s with all of the piescrapers in the kitchen skyline lately? It seems like towering pies are a thing now. I don’t mind though. When pies go vertical, there is more room for pie on the table. Like this awesome Deku Tree pie from PiesAreAwesome.

Like Jessica Leigh Clark-Bojin’s previous design, this one is not only a piescraper, it also uses a wire and foil armature to support the branches of the Deku tree. She thinks that this is the first time one has been used in a pie. So they have made pie history. Legend of Zelda history too, since this is the first Deku Tree pie I’ve seen. Amazing. And obviously delicious.

It is a true work of art. That should be devoured until gone. By me. Except the metal bits.

Tekken Producer Pushing For PS4/Xbox One Cross-Play

One advantage to PC games is that you get to play multiplayer games with other PC gamers regardless of what brand or specs that they are using, as long as it runs the game and they have an internet connection, you’re good to go. Console players on the other hand are different, where Sony and Microsoft offer up their own online services that don’t typically allow cross-play.

Unfortunately that’s not going to change soon as far as Tekken 7 is concerned, but the game’s producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed to GameSpot that this is something that they are pushing for. According to Harada, it isn’t so much the technical hurdles but rather the security protocols that makes cross-play almost impossible at the moment.

He was quoted as saying (via a translator in the form of producer Michael Murray), “Since Tekken has three platforms, to do [cross-play] is much more difficult because fighting games are peer-to-peer, which means you connected directly to your opponent. That means all the security protocols regarding PSN or Xbox Live, the user IDs and such, is quite difficult to match that–not technologically.”

However since it seems unlikely that Sony or Microsoft will be changing their security policies anytime soon, Harada doesn’t think that cross-play is possible for Tekken 7 at this point in time. “[But] until there is some kind of progress between the first-parties adapting their security policies and just policy in general regarding online, to allow that, it’s not going to be viable at this time. It’s not to say that’s the case forever. But until they change their policies, there’s not a whole lot we can do.”

Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn Will Be Headed To The Switch

Back in the 90s, basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal launched his own game in the form of Shaq Fu which while wasn’t exactly a hit, ended up being something of a cult classic if for the wrong reasons. The game was later revived in 2014 with Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, and for gamers interested, it seems that the title will be headed for the Nintendo Switch.

Speaking to Nintendo Everything in an interview, Saber Interactive’s CEO Matthew Karch revealed that the title was be arriving on the Nintendo Switch, although no dates were provided as to when the title will be made available. As Nintendo Everything points out, the game was also originally planned for the Wii U, but it is unsure if the title will still be launched or cancelled in favor of the Switch version.

The game has yet to be officially released despite launching on Indiegogo several years ago, but Karch claims that the game is still very much in the works, so if this sounds like something you could get behind on, then it could be worth checking out for when it does launch on the Switch in the future.

Karch also revealed that the company has other titles planned for the Switch, such as NBA Playgrounds which will be released on the 9th of May, and there will also be a new motorcross title, along with a four player co-op title.

Bixby Voice Has Been Launched In South Korea

Ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S8’s reveal, much has been talked about a rumored new AI called Bixby that would be one of the handset’s key features. Unfortunately Samsung later announced that the phone would be shipping without some of Bixby’s features, namely Bixby Voice which is the voice activated portion of the software.

However the good news is that according to reports, Bixby Voice has begun to roll out over in South Korea. This means that users in South Korea will be able to use their voice to control the software and get it to do tasks for it. We’re not sure what was with the delay to begin with but initial reports have suggested that it wasn’t quite up to scratch yet.

Presumably the rollout means that Samsung might have addressed whatever the problem was. Unfortunately this rollout is only for South Korea. However last we heard Samsung Canada had promised that the feature would be arriving in Spring and we’re not sure if that is applicable for the US market as well.

Either way we guess the release in South Korea means that the feature should already be good enough to go live so maybe a release in other markets won’t be too far behind, but we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled.

Twitter And Bloomberg Team Up For 24-Hour News Streaming

Twitter is a pretty decent platform to get updated on the news, and publications like Bloomberg is also great if you want to get more in-depth. However it seems that now you’ll be able to get the best of both worlds because it has been announced that Twitter and Bloomberg will be teaming up to provide 24-hour news streaming.

According to Bloomberg Media’s chief executive officer, Justin Smith, “It is going to be focused on the most important news for an intelligent audience around the globe and it’s going to be broader in focus than our existing network.” The channel, whose official name has yet to be revealed, will be going live this coming fall.

As for the content, it won’t just be a rebroadcast of footage from Bloomberg TV, but will instead consist of live news reporting from Bloomberg’s outlets around the world, along with videos that are curated and verified by Twitter. This move is no doubt a pretty big move for Twitter as it competes with the likes of Facebook who are also looking to do more live streaming.

Anthony Noto, Twitter’s chief financial and operating officer was quoted as saying, “We really think we can reach audiences that are not paying for TV and are watching television on the go and we think Bloomberg is the perfect partner for us to start with.”

Samsung Approved To Test Self-Driving Cars In South Korea

Samsung is a company known for electronics like refrigerators, washing machines, TVs, computers, smartphones, and so on, but it seems that the company’s interest is expanding and to self-driving cars. In a report from The Investor, it seems that Samsung has been giving the greenlight to start testing out its self-driving cars in South Korea.

The report claims that the country’s Land Ministry had approved a test run of Samsung’s self-driving car which is under development at the moment. However before you get too excited at the idea of seeing Samsung-branded cars on the road, note that Samsung’s interest is more about developing sensors and computer modules for self-driving cars, as opposed to making the cars themselves.

Samsung is also looking into using AI and deep-learning technology to improve the capabilities of self-driving cars, especially in challenging weather conditions. Apple themselves have also been granted permission to test their technology over in California, and just like Samsung it has been suggested that Apple is looking more into developing the technology behind it as opposed to making a car themselves.

Given that Samsung also does a lot of behind-the-scenes work such as producing display panels, chipsets, and memory, it doesn’t really surprise us that this is an area that they would look into as well.
