Trump Says He Doesn't Want Poor People In Charge Of The Economy

President Donald Trump, addressing criticism that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and others in his Cabinet are too rich, said at an Iowa rally Wednesday that he doesn’t want poor people in charge of the economy.

“These are people that are great, brilliant business minds, and that’s what we need, that’s what we have to have so the world doesn’t take advantages of us,” Trump, told a crowd of about 6,000 in Cedar Rapids. “We can’t have the world taking advantage of us anymore. And I love all people, rich or poor, but in those particular positions I just don’t want a poor person. Does that make sense? Does that make sense?

“If you insist, I’ll do it, but I like it better this way.”

Ross, a billionaire investor who divested much of his portfolio before taking up his position, is just one of the many billionaires or multimillionaires that make up the majority of the president’s Cabinet. As a whole, the group is thought to be the wealthiest in American history, and Trump himself has at least $1.4 billion in assets, according to a financial disclosure form released this month.

The sheer wealth in the Trump administration has been the subject of frequent news coverage, and many of his appointees faced significant opposition from lawmakers who dubbed the group a “cabinet of billionaires.”

Trump, during his rally, cast off such criticism, saying the appointment of such people as Gary Cohn, a former president of Goldman Sachs, would help the country better represent itself on the international stage. He noted many in his Cabinet “had to give up a lot to take these jobs.”

“This is the president of Goldman Sachs. Smart. Having him represent us, he went from massive paydays to peanuts, to little tiny …” Trump said. “I’m waiting for them to accuse him of wanting that little amount of money.”

It’s unclear how much Cohn makes as the chief economic adviser to the president (the White House has yet to update its database of administration salaries), and it’s sure to be less than the $285 million departure package he received when he left Goldman Sachs. But the top annual salary for Cabinet officials last year was $176,461, more than three times the average U.S. household income in 2015.

Sony’s ‘Venom’ Movie Could Feature Spider-Man Villain ‘Carnage’

Earlier this year Sony made a rather surprising announcement when they revealed that come 2018, they would be launching a “Venom” movie. For those unfamiliar, Venom is one of the antagonists (sometimes protagonist) in the Spider-Man franchise, and at the time of announcement, not many details were known about the film.

However in recent times, we did find out that Tom Hardy would be starring in the movie as the titular character, and now in a report from The Hollywood Reporter, more details have surfaced, such as a potential villain for the movie. Assuming their sources are accurate (which they have been so far), the Venom movie could feature another Spider-Man villain “Carnage” as its main villain.

For those unfamiliar, Carnage, just like Venom, is another symbiote who has typically been attached to serial killer Cletus Kassidy. Unlike Venom’s stories and comics, stories involving Carnage are typically much darker and slightly more disturbing, which is why it isn’t surprising that Carnage has never really been featured in movies before, or at least until now.

In addition to this little tidbit, The Hollywood Report also claims that Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, could be introduced in the Venom movie and other spin-offs in a cameo role, despite Holland only contractually obligated to appear in Spider-Man 2. Needless to say you should take this with a grain of salt for now, but if true, it sounds like the Venom movie is shaping up to be rather exciting.

Niantic Warns Pokemon GO Players Against Using Third-Party Services

Many Pokemon GO players don’t consider themselves to be cheaters when they use third-party apps and services to help better manage their Pokemon. This is because there are many who feel that Niantic’s current system isn’t particularly efficient, which is why they have turned to the use of third-party apps.

However Niantic has warned gamers time and time again about using such services, and in a recent post on Reddit, the company has once again warned gamers that should they use third-party services, the Pokemon that they catch will be marked and won’t necessarily behave the way they should.

According to Niantic, “With the announcement of Raid Battles and the new battle features, we are staying true on our commitment to ensuring that Pokémon GO continues to be a fun and fair experience for all Trainers. Starting today, Pokémon caught using third-party services that circumvent normal gameplay will appear marked with a slash in the inventory and may not behave as expected.”

Like we said this isn’t the first time Niantic has made such warnings. In the past players have found themselves shadowbanned. So if you’d rather not have your hard work go down the drain, perhaps it’s best to stay away from such services in the future.

Alleged Canon EOS 6D MK II Photos Leaked

The Canon EOS 6D MK II is a camera that we’ve been hearing a bit about in recent times, and for those wondering about the specs and how the camera might look like, you’re in luck because a post on Nokishita Camera (via Photo Rumors), photos and detailed specs about the upcoming camera have been revealed.

Take note that there’s no way to verify if these images or specs are the real deal, but so far from what we’ve seen, Nokishita Camera has had a pretty good track record when it comes to such leaks, so perhaps there is some truth to the post. However given that it still isn’t 100% official, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt anyway, just to be safe.

That being said, the specs posted on the publication claim that the EOS 6D MK II will feature a 26.2MP sensor, dual pixel CMOS AF, a 45 point cross type AF system, continuous shooting of up to 6.5fps, a maximum ISO of 40,000 that can be extended to 102,400, Full HD video capture with 5-axis image stabilization, a 3-inch LCD vari-angle touchscreen display, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and it will weigh 765 grams.

This is pretty much in line with what we’ve heard so far, so it looks like the rumors are at the very least consistent with each other. The Canon EOS 6D MK II is rumored for a launch on the 29th of June, so check back with us next week to see if there are any official details to be had.

Spotify Introduces Group Playlists For Facebook Messenger

Instant messengers these days are starting to offer up much more in terms of features besides just chatting. For example Apple’s Messages app now supports apps of its own where users can expand upon its functionality, and the same can also be said for Facebook Messenger, which in an announcement by Spotify has a brand new feature in the form of Group Playlists.

According to Spotify, “With Group Playlists for Messenger, users can create new Spotify playlists with friends and immediately begin collaborating to build out their perfect mix. Ideal for parties, road trips, or simply collecting new favorites, Group Playlists provide a seamless way for users to collaborate and share music more easily than ever before.”

The feature is pretty straightforward in terms of its purpose and usage, where users on Messenger will be able to create Spotify playlists together and add songs to it to help create the “perfect” playlist for whatever occasion, such as an upcoming party, or maybe use this playlist as a way of sharing songs with each other.

Spotify claims that this feature will be open to all Messenger users, even if they are not necessarily Spotify subscribers, so you might want to check it out if you think that this sounds like fun.

New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Trailer Released

Last month the folks at HBO dropped the official trailer for the upcoming season 7 of Game of Thrones and boy did it look good. However for those who are hankering for more season 7 goodies, you’ll be pleased to learn that HBO has since released a second trailer, this time more action-packed than the last one.

The trailer does a pretty good job of getting viewers hyped up for the seventh and second-last season in the series, and its release could not come any sooner. Season 7 of Game of Thrones is currently slated for a release on the 7th of July. This is much later than what viewers have come to expect based on previous releases, but we guess better late than never, right?

It should also be noted that season 7 will have less episodes compared to the previous seasons, but if it helps to get us to the end faster in a more concise manner, that’s not a bad thing. After all no one likes it when a series is being dragged out too long for the sake of milking it for all it’s worth. Season 8 has also been confirmed to have less episodes, 6 to be exact, one less than season 7.

Season 8 is expected to be released next year, but recent reports have suggested that it could possibly be delayed to 2019, which we’re really hoping isn’t the case since many are probably looking forward to seeing how the series will conclude, more so given the fact that the series’ author George R.R. Martin has yet to conclude it himself.

Nintendo Talks About Cross-Platform Multiplayer Support

At E3 last week, Nintendo actually surprised a lot of people when it was announced that there would be a couple of titles released on the Nintendo Switch that would actually support cross-platform multiplayer. Nintendo, just like Apple, has been somewhat notorious for keeping to themselves, which is why the E3 announcements were a pleasant surprise.

This included titles such as Minecraft and Rocket League, but given that Nintendo has started to branch out more, like bringing the Mario franchise onto mobile, we guess this shouldn’t really be too surprising. Speaking to GamesBeat, Nintendo of America corporate communications director Charlie Scibetta spoke about the company’s decision to support cross-platform multiplayer.

Speaking about bringing Rocket League onto the Switch and supporting cross-platform multiplayer, Scibetta said, “We’re trying to be more flexible as a company. We’re reaching out to try and get people to interact with our IP. In this case Rocket League is their IP on our system, but we’re trying to get people involved with us in any way we can, whether that’s on mobile now, or through Universal Studios parks, or through licensing deals like Vans.”

He adds, “If people want to play cross platform, we want to enable that.” As it stands, Sony is the only console maker that is holding out on cross-platform on titles such as Minecraft and Rocket League (note that the company does support cross-platform for other titles).
