Latest Overwatch Patch Puts An End To Aimbots

One of the most important skills to have when playing FPS is aim. After all you could have the best and highest-damage dealing weapon in the game, but if you can’t hit your target, there’s really no point. This is where hacks/tools such as aimbots come in, where they help players find their targets more easily.

It is safe to say that no FPS is free of aimbots, but the good news is that Blizzard is actively doing something about it as far as Overwatch is concerned. In a post on Reddit, it has been noted that the latest patch to the game will pretty much render aimbots useless, or at least those that rely on image recognition.

According to the post, “Image recognition based aimbots, prevalent in Korea, work by targeting specific RGB value used for enemy outlines. Basically starting from this patch, the outlines on enemies slightly change in color (unnoticeable to human eyes) so that the image recognition engine on aimbots would be either completely useless or have high failure rate.”

Given Blizzard’s plans to make Overwatch a competitive eSports title, cracking down hard and fast on cheats and hacks will help ensure the legitimacy of the game. Ahead of the game’s launch, Blizzard had already warned gamers that cheaters will be permanently banned without warning or second chances, and they proved it by banning more than 1,000 players within a week of the game’s release.

eBay Launches New Price Match Guarantee Feature

While eBay might have started out as a place for people to auction off items, the website has evolved over the years where it now also acts as a storefront for various companies looking to sell products directly to consumers. Of course this also means that they are now competing with the likes of other online retailers, such as Amazon.

This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that eBay is stepping up their efforts by launching a new Price Match Guarantee feature. As the name suggests, this means that eBay will now attempt to price match certain items that are being sold on its competitors’ websites. However note that not every item sold on eBay will be price matched, but rather those that are sold on the website’s trending inventor section Deals.

There are also some caveats, such as how these products need to be new and identical to what’s being sold, and the item also needs to be in stock on both eBay and the competitor’s stores at the time of purchase. Also not every competitor will be covered, but for the most part the bigger ones are, such as Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Jet.com, Home Depot, Sears, Target, and Wayfair.

According to Hal Lawton, Senior Vice President of North America at eBay, “Shoppers can shop with confidence knowing that they’re getting the best value available on eBay. Our eBay Deals selection has grown exponentially since being launched in 2011. The vast majority of our deals are already lower priced or equal to our competitors, but if a shopper finds it for less, we’ll gladly match the price of our competitors.”

Why The FBI Usually Doesn't Label Attacks By Non-Muslims Terrorism

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Just hours after the FBI announced that last week’s politically motivated attack on members of Congress at a baseball practice was not an act of terrorism, federal investigators informed the public on Wednesday that the stabbing of a police officer at an airport in Flint, Michigan, potentially was.

Police said Amor Ftouhi, 50, attacked Lt. Jeff Neville of Bishop International Airport’s Department of Public Safety on Wednesday morning. Ftouhi, a Quebec resident who entered the U.S. on June 16, yelled “Allahu Akbar” before stabbing Neville, authorities said. He also “exclaimed something similar” to ”You have killed people in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and we are all going to die,” according to an incident report.

The FBI’s announcement in the Flint investigation followed revelations earlier Wednesday that the bureau had found no connection to terrorism in last week’s shooting in Northern Virginia, during which James T. Hodgkinson opened fire on GOP lawmakers and staffers practicing for a charity baseball game. Hodgkinson, who was killed in a shootout with police, appeared politically motivated and regularly voiced strong sentiments against President Donald Trump on Facebook.

Both incidents would meet the textbook definition of terrorism: the “unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.”

The FBI’s own definition of domestic terrorism says an act must meet three characteristics: It must appear intended 1) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, 2) to influence the policy of government by intimidation or coercion, 3) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping.

But there’s no generic federal terrorism law that can be used in all acts that would meet the textbook definition. And when the FBI calls something terrorism, the organization is usually referring to a specific connection with a designated foreign terrorist organization.

Under federal law, it is much easier to deploy terrorism-related charges against individuals inspired by radical Islam, because even elements like retweets can be considered material support for a designated foreign terrorist organization. The U.S. does not label domestic extremist groups as terrorist organizations, as banning Americans from supporting U.S.-based organizations would raise First Amendment issues.

There are certain acts of terrorism that are illegal under federal law regardless of motivation. That includes airplane hijacking, the use of particular explosives and weapons, and assassinating a government official. But stabbings and shootings aren’t included.

Take the prosecution of Dylann Roof, who was sentenced to death this year for the shooting deaths of nine black churchgoers in Charleston, South Carolina, in June 2015. Roof was found guilty on 33 counts, including hate crimes, but he was not charged with terrorism.

Shortly after the Charleston attack, in July 2015, HuffPost pressed former FBI Director James Comey on the hesitancy to label the Charleston shooting as terrorism. Comey acknowledged the attack might fit the “colloquial” definition of the word, but said he operated only in the legal framework, because of the nature of his job.

“The only world I live in is when you bring charges against someone, and charge them with something under a particular provision that is a terrorism statute,” Comey said. “So that’s the framework through which I look at it.”

When Roof was indicted, Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch described hate crimes as the “original domestic terrorism.” She said the lack of terrorism charges against Roof didn’t mean the feds were taking the case any less seriously.

Lynch’s predecessor, however, said it’s time for the nation of reconsider what it labels as terrorism. Attorney General Eric Holder said Charleston should serve as a ”wake-up call″ on domestic terrorism. People like Roof, he explained, can become radicalized on U.S. soil without the aid or influence of a foreign terror network.

“We have a young man who apparently becomes radicalized as the result of an incident and becomes more radicalized as a result of what he sees on the Internet, through the use of his computer, then goes and does something, that by his own words apparently is a political-violent act,” Holder told HuffPost. “With a different set of circumstances, and if you had dialed in religion there, Islam, that would be called an act of terror. It seems to me that, again on the basis of the information that has been released, that’s what we have here. An act of terror.”

Bloomberg Urges Americans To Stop Resisting Trump And Focus On 2020 Election Instead

Michael Bloomberg may have said some disparaging things about Donald Trump before he was elected president, but the former New York City mayor appears to have softened his approach now that Trump is in the White House.

During an appearance on Wednesday’s “The View,” Bloomberg, who once called Trump a “con” and “dangerous demagogue,” urged Americans to get behind Trump and suggested that the president’s opponents should focus less on resistance and more on the next presidential election.

“Let’s just all hope that Donald Trump is a good president of the United States,” the billionaire businessman and philanthropist said. “He’s our president, and we need this country to be run well.”

Bloomberg also explained that, although he did not vote for Trump, he wanted to avoid repeating the “mistake” that he says Sen. Mitch McConnell made as minority leader in President Barack Obama’s administration. In 2010, McConnell told The National Journal that the “single most important thing” for Republicans to achieve would be to make Obama a “one-term president.”

“I thought, that’s our country. That’s my kids and my grandkids,” Bloomberg said of McConnell on Wednesday. “We have to make it work. You have an election, whoever wins, then we have to get behind and work.”

Bloomberg, who publicly endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, said that those who don’t agree with the Trump administration should direct their energy toward electing new officials in 2020.

He illustrated his point by comparing America with other countries where, according to Bloomberg, people will try to “tear down the government” and “have a revolution” if they lose an election.

“We should sit back and say, ‘OK, four years from now, how do I get my person, my man or my woman, elected?’” he suggested, which elicited cheers from the audience.

But when asked by host Joy Behar about the “strong resistance” from people pushing back against Trump’s policies, Bloomberg defended their right to protest and encouraged people to speak out against the administration.

“If you disagree, you should go out there. You can protest. You can elect other officials, write letters, make phone calls,” he said. “But in the end, the public has spoken, whether you like the results or not.”

But then Bloomberg jabbed at Trump, joking that he may have won the election with “a little help from the Russians.”

The former mayor’s message to support the president stands out amid Bloomberg’s ongoing criticisms of the president while promoting his book, co-written with environmentalist Carl Pope, Climate of Hope: How Cities, Businesses, and Citizens Can Save the Planet.

In a CNN interview Tuesday, Bloomberg advised Trump ― whom he called “a very nice guy” who is unfit for the presidency ― to “stop tweeting and focus on running the government.” He also called the president’s denial of climate change “embarrassing.”

Janet Mock Is The Role Model We Need In 2017

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Janet Mock is the role model we need in 2017. The thirty-four-year-old is redefining what it means to be trans through her efforts across multi-media disciplines, showing that your gender does not need to equal your identity.

Mock worked as a journalist for years, and served as the pop culture editor for People Magazine when she decided to publicly come out as trans in 2011 in a now-famous Marie Claire article.

Since coming out, Mock has worked feverishly to change minds about what it means to be trans. Shortly after the Marie Claire piece, Mock launched the #GirlsLikeUs social media campaign to create a space online “by and for trans women.” She then released her first novel “Redefining Realness,” which serves as an account of her teenage transition, and how she realigned her definition of what constitutes being fully realized as a person. Her confident memoir paints a picture of hope for trans youth despite being frank about the hard road many trans people face in an ever-changing political landscape.

Now, Mock has released her second book, “Surpassing Certainty,” which chronicles her journey toward being a confident role model. The new, daring memoir follows Mock throughout her twenties, focusing on coming of age in a post 9/11 world, her experience in her first marriage and climbing the media ladder in New York City.

Mock’s efforts push to change the way we regard trans people, but also show that we are all so much more than one aspect of our complex identities.

Supreme Court says laws can’t ban people from social media

The Supreme Court has ruled that groups of people cannot be hit with blanket social media bans, doing so in response to a North Carolina law prohibiting sex offenders from using any websites that minors may also use. The entire matter started when one North Carolina resident reportedly ran afoul of the law by posting a Facebook status. In its … Continue reading

OnePlus 5 Found To Be ‘Cheating’ Benchmark Results

The OnePlus 5 was recently launched and based on the specs of the phone, it appears that it is a pretty powerful handset. It packs the latest processors and comes with a whopping 6GB of RAM, but yet despite these powerful specs, it seems that OnePlus has decided to game the benchmarks by making its phone seem more powerful than it is.

Or at least that’s what the folks at XDA are accusing the company of. In the report on XDA, it seems that the OnePlus 5 is targeting specific benchmarks by name, in the sense that if it detects that it is being run on specific benchmarks, it will then try to boost its performance to the max in order to gain a higher score. For example in some instances the smaller cores of the Snapdragon 835 used in the phone were capped at 1.9GHz for 95% of the benchmark, versus normal use where they might only hit their max frequency about 24.4% of the time.

This is actually not the first time that OnePlus has been accused of trying to game the benchmark system, but it seems that they’re not too fussed about it. Note that OnePlus isn’t alone in this as other companies have also been found to be “cheating” benchmarks. OnePlus has since issued a statement which reads in part, “We are not overclocking the device, rather we are displaying the performance potential of the OnePlus 5.” The company’s co-founder Carl Pei has also weighed in on the issue in a post on Reddit.

That being said, benchmarks don’t necessarily reflect how good or bad a phone is. There are plenty of other factors that need to be considered, such as user interface, optimization of software for hardware, camera, display, etc. That being said, initial reviews of the OnePlus 5 appear to be largely positive, so we’re not sure if OnePlus really needed to bother gaming the system to begin with, but what do you guys think? Do you take benchmarks into account when deciding on which phone to get?

Virgin Mobile USA Is Now An iPhone-Exclusive Carrier

Walk into a carrier shop anywhere around the world and there’s a good chance that you’ll come across a variety of phones, ranging from iPhones, to Android, to BlackBerry, and maybe some running on Windows. However with Virgin Mobile USA, it seems that the company has decided to partner with Apple and will now only be selling iPhones.

Yup this sounds exactly like what you think it does. This means that if you wanted to buy an Android phone and use it on Virgin Mobile’s network in the US, you’d be flat out of luck as the carrier will now only be offering iPhones to its customers. This is part of the carrier’s new “Inner Circle” plan which according to the website, “Get unlimited talk, text and data for $50/month when you join the Inner Circle. And for a limited time, get your first year of unlimited service for only $1. Purchase an iPhone, transfer your number and enjoy.”

To qualify, all customers need to do is purchase an iPhone either from Virgin Mobile or Apple. After the first year is up, the plan will revert back to being $50 a month, and then back down to $1 for six months assuming you were to purchase a new iPhone again after two years of service. We know it sounds a bit complicated but perhaps that’s being on purpose.

Also we should point out that the fine print states that unlimited comes with some strings attached, such as how video streams are capped at 480p, and music at 500 kilobits per second, so unless you really care about high quality streams on the go, perhaps you might want to look elsewhere. There is also ceiling of 23GB a month in which after that your speeds will be throttled. If you’re fine with all of this, then head on over to Virgin Mobile USA’s website for the details.

Note that this does not mean that Android phones will stop working on the carrier’s network, it’s only that they’ll be selling iPhones exclusively from here on out.

Google Pixel 2 Handsets Hinted At In HTC U11 System Files

It is widely believed that Google will be launching new Pixel phones this year because unless something changes drastically, we don’t see why Google would be halting their Nexus/Pixel initiative. That being said, it seems that this year’s Pixel handsets could be built by HTC, thanks to references to the phones being spotted in the HTC U11’s system files.

For those unfamiliar, the HTC U11 is HTC’s latest flagship and the sighting of possible Pixel 2 references on the phone shouldn’t be surprising, especially when you consider the fact that HTC built the first Pixel phones and have been rumored to have struck a deal with Google to build 2017’s Pixel phones as well.

The references in question are “S2” and “M2”, and given that the first-generation Pixel handsets were known as “S1” and “M1”, it’s really not that hard to imagine that S2 and M2 could be talking about the Pixel 2. However there have been some recent rumors and speculation to suggest that LG could be building the Pixel 2 handsets, but at this point in time it’s hard to say which rumor is true.

An alternative theory is that the references in the HTC U11 could be old and carried over from before, but then again there have been reports that indicate that there was a third Pixel device that was supposedly cancelled, but either way take it with a grain of salt for now and hopefully we’ll have more details to share in the future.
