Resident Evil 2 Remake Will Be Released ‘Soon’

Announced back in 2015, Capcom revealed that they would be launching a remake of Resident Evil 2, something that we’re sure fans of the franchise are pretty excited at the idea of. However fast forward to 2017, it’s been almost 2 years and there is still no sight of the game being released, so what’s the deal?

The good news is that Capcom has not forgotten about the game and that they will be releasing it soon. Speaking to Collider, one of the game’s programmers Hiroyuki Kobayashi said, “The only thing I can tell you is about something that’s already out in the public. Resident Evil 2, a remade version, the game, will be out from Capcom soon.”

Exactly what “soon” means is anyone’s guess, whether it be a couple of weeks, a couple of months, or maybe even next year, all of which could mean “soon” depending on who you speak to. However we’re hoping that it won’t take so long, and given that E3 has since passed us by, it probably means that the game’s release might be announced at a different platform.

For example there is Gamescom coming up and the PlayStation Experience, so we guess those are platforms that Capcom could announce the game’s release at, assuming that they don’t do so before then. Until then gamers will just have to wait.

More Alleged Canon EOS 6D MK II Details Revealed

Word on the street is that Canon has a new DSLR in the works in the form of the Canon EOS 6D MK II. We’ve heard some rumors about the camera, but the folks at Canon Rumors have since published a blog post in which additional details have been revealed, such as its specs and also potential pricing.

Starting with specs, what we’re looking at is a camera that will sport a 26MP CMOS sensor which will be powered by Canon’s DIGIC 7 image processor. We’re also talking about video capture features such as Full HD 1080p at 60fps, support for SD cards, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, and a vari-angle 3-inch LCD touchscreen display.

The camera will also have a 45 AF point system that will be cross-type, and in terms of pricing, we’re looking at a price tag of $1,999 for the body-only. According to Canon Rumors, this is actually $100 cheaper than what the Canon EOS 6D cost when it first launched, which we guess is good news for would-be customers.

So far if everything sounds good, the report claims that the announcement of the camera should take place on the 29th of June, 2017, with a release and shipping set tentatively early August. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we should have the details soon.

Airbnb To Bolster Its Background Checking Efforts With Acquisition

With every service and product launched out there, there are bound to be those who want to make a quick buck by running scams. For example eBay scams are pretty common, and so are Airbnb scams which can affect both guests looking to book an accommodation, and hosts who are looking to rent out their properties.

However in a report from Bloomberg, it seems that Airbnb will be bolstering its background checking efforts through an acquisition of a company called Trooly. If you’ve never heard of them, we guess we can’t really blame you, but basically they are a startup that specializes in background checks by using data from public records, social media, and so on. Basically the idea is to pull as much information as possible to help paint a more accurate picture.

As Bloomberg notes, Airbnb has struggled with scammers in the past, where people have posed as property owners and rented out property and collected money on places they do not own. This has resulted in guests showing up to locations only to find that they have been duped out of their money and accommodation.

As to how much Airbnb might have acquired Trooly for, the company declined to mentioned, but speaking to Bloomberg, Airbnb spokesman Tim Rathschmidt said, “We look forward to welcoming the Trooly team to Airbnb in the coming weeks.” Exactly how Airbnb will be integrating Trooly’s services in the booking/renting process remains to be seen.

France Looking Into Building Autonomous High-Speed Trains

With there being multiple choices when it comes to public transportation, sometimes there is usually more than one way you can get to your destination. One of those methods is trains which is a pretty common method of transportation in countries around the world, but over in France, the country wants to upgrade their existing systems.

In a report from FranceInfo (via Engadget), it has been reported that the country’s state-owned railway company SNCF is planning on deploying autonomous high-speed trains that will operate along its TGV lines by 2023. Initial trials are expected to begin some time in 2019, which means that there’s still quite a bit of waiting to do.

These autonomous trains will rely on a host of external sensors that will be used to automate braking when obstacles are detected on the tracks. SNCF is also hoping that with the use of autonomous trains, more tedious tasks such as hooking up various cars before departure can be done so more efficiently.

It is also said that with these autonomous trains, the time in between trains could even be cut down from 180 seconds to 108 seconds, which is pretty impressive. In France, the country’s subways in Paris are already automated, but as the adjoint director of the SNCF, Matthieu Chabanel told FranceInfo, it’s a different story when dealing with an open environment where other factors like trees, animals, and people have to be accounted for.

Super Smash Flash 2 has everyone, should have kitchen sink

It may not be a household name like Street Fighter, but Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros is also one of the best loved fighting game franchises, because of its ironically (for a fighting game) lighthearted nature and the assortment of characters pulled from various Nintendo properties. But what if you take those elements even further, almost to their most illogical conclusion. … Continue reading

SEATTLE, June 19 (Reuters) – Two white Seattle police officers on Sunday fatally shot a 30-year-old black mother who had called them to investigate a burglary and whose family said had deteriorating mental health.

Both Seattle Police Department officers opened fire on the woman, named by family as Charleena Lyles, inside the apartment building after they said she confronted them brandishing a knife, police said. She died at the scene.

There were several children inside the apartment during Sunday’s incident, though they were uninjured, police said.

“There is no reason for her to be shot in front of her babies,” Monika Williams, the sister of the slain woman, told reporters outside the apartment building. “She had mental health issues that nobody is trying to address.”

The incident comes four days after Lyles was released from King County Jail following her arrest on June 5 for threatening police officers with large kitchen scissors inside her small and cluttered apartment, according to a police incident report filed in Seattle Municipal Court.

During a tense standoff with officers, two of whom had weapons drawn, the woman told police they were “devils and also members of the KKK,” a reference to the white-supremacy group, the police report said of the earlier incident. An officer was able to convince the woman to drop the scissors and she was arrested.

The report also said family members told police Lyles was experiencing a sudden decline in her mental health condition and had not behaved similarly in the past.

A police spokesman did not immediately respond to a e-mail asking whether the officers on June 5 were the same officers who shot Lyles on Sunday, or whether the officers had received training on how to properly handle a mental health or domestic crisis.

The police statement said two officers were required to respond because of “information pertaining to this address that presented an increased risk to officers.”

Both officers will be placed on paid administrative leave as the department investigates the shooting, police said.

The Seattle Police Department has been implementing court-ordered reforms since 2012 to address what a U.S. Justice Department investigation found to be a pattern of excessive force by officers that often arose during encounters with the mentally ill or drug-addled suspects.

Federal investigators also found evidence of biased policing.

Several mourners gathered outside the apartment complex early on Sunday evening for a vigil and memorial for Lyles, according to photos posted online by local media.

Photos of Lyles and her children were posted on black plastic chairs and people brought placards that read Black Lives Matter, a movement that grew out of protests against the police killings of unarmed black men in a number of cities across the United States.

FYI, Those Annoying Strings On Bananas Are Called Phloem Bundles

Leathery strings of death.

Pull back the yellow peel of a banana, and there they are, haunting you. They run vertically along the fruit, demanding to be removed with precision. They dangle lifelessly from the flesh of ripe bananas, but cling mercilessly to those that are less ripe. Either way, they are never wanted.

We’re talking about those annoying white strings on bananas, or more technically, “phloem bundles.” (Appetizing name, right?)

Anyone who’s peeled a banana has certainly encountered this unpleasantness. But what do we even know about these things?

If the term “phloem” sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because you were taught about phloem and xylem when you learned about plant biology in middle school science class. Those two terms describe the complex tissues that transport food and water in a plant, providing it with sufficient food, nutrients, minerals and water to grow.

So essentially, these hideous strings distribute nutrients up and down the banana as it grows, allowing us to eat the delicious bananas that we so love.

Some people hate phloem bundles so much that they’ve dedicated blogs to the subject. Many of us don’t give them much though, accepting them as just another tedious part of our daily lives. But is there more we need to know? Only a banana doctor could tell us.

To get some answers, we talked to Nicholas D. Gillitt, who has a Ph.D in physical/inorganic chemistry and is the VP of nutrition research and director at the Dole Nutrition Institute.

HuffPost: Is there any nutritional difference between phloem bundles and the rest of the edible part of the banana?

Gillitte: “Although we have not specifically tested phloem bundles, it is likely that there would be a difference in its nutritional value. Since they are intended to do a specific job, and as such likely have a defined structure which supports that job, they would be expected to have a different compound profile to the regular edible banana flesh. They likely contain more and varied types of fiber and structural components required for their function. Because of this, they probably would have a different nutritional profile for humans.

“They are, however, present in such small amounts compared to the rest of the banana, that unless you eat a large amount of them individually, they would not be expected to impact the overall nutrition profile of a banana.”

Are phloem bundles safe to eat?

“As part of the banana, of course! Now, [whether they] are palatable is another question.

In general, all parts of fruits are healthy. We eat the skins of apples, pears, etc., and we could eat the skins of bananas — including the phloem bundles — if we find them palatable, but there is no evidence to suggest they are harmful.”

Then are they good for us?

“Any fiber is healthy.”

What sort of feedback do you get about banana strings?

“In general, Dole has not received any meaningful consumer complaints on phloem bundles. From a scientist’s perspective — who has conducted several clinical trials with hundreds of subjects eating large quantities of bananas during studies — I can categorically state I have not been made aware of one instance where a subject thought these phloem bundles were bothersome.”

[Editor’s note: Starting to feel a little shame. Are we the only ones so uppity about banana strings?]

Is it even possible to develop a banana without phloem bundles?

“Yes it is potentially possible, but if the phloem bundles are necessary for the adequate disposition of nutrients throughout the plant, and are not truly bothersome, what would be the driver? From a company mission perspective of broadening access to nutrition and healthier eating, we would feel it is a much more important extension of resources to spend research money on breeding disease-resistant or increased nutrient content varieties.”

Consider us told.

Megyn Kelly Grills Alex Jones In Controversial Interview

Megyn Kelly challenged Alex Jones’ most inflammatory conspiracy theories in a much-anticipated interview that aired Sunday night on her new NBC News show, but Jones ducked even her toughest questions.

The 17-minute long interview had prompted a public furore when it was first announced last week, with critics accusing Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly of lending credence to the right-wing radio personality’s views by giving him a mainstream platform. Jones has in the past called the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting a “hoax” and claimed that former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was linked to a child sex ring.

“Some thought we shouldn’t broadcast this interview because his baseless allegations aren’t just offensive, they’re dangerous,” Kelly, a former Fox News anchor, said, “But here’s the thing. Alex Jones isn’t going away. Over the years his YouTube channel has racked up 1.3 billion views. He has millions of listeners and the ear of our current president.”

Kelly had used a similar line of reasoning last week in response to the overwhelming backlash to the Jones interview, claiming that her job as a journalist was to “shine a light” on the “influential” Jones, who despite his “outrageous conspiracy theories,” has the ear of President Trump.

Jones refused to take back his remarks about the Sandy Hook massacre, which led to a Florida woman harassing the parents of one of the twenty children killed in the 2012 attack.

“I do think there is cover-up and manipulation, that’s pretty much what I believed,” he said. “I was going into devil’s advocate but we know there are mass shootings and these things happen.”

“You’re trying to have it all ways,” Kelly shot back.

“No, I’m not,” Jones responded, later adding that he “didn’t create that story.”

Kelly noted in a voiceover that Jones “never completely disavowed his previous statement.” The program also aired the reaction of Neil Heslin, whose 6-year-old son Jesse died in the shooting.

“It’s disrespectful to me,” said Heslin, referring to Jones’ comments on the massacre. “I take that very personal.”

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Kelly questioned Jones about “Pizzagate,” the widely debunked story that Clinton staffers were running a child sex ring out of the a D.C. pizza restaurant. That hoax, which Jones promoted on his show, led to one man storming the restaurant with an assault rifle.

She also grilled Jones on his reaction to the Manchester bombing last month, which left 22 people dead including many children.

MEGYN KELLY: You said, “It was a bunch of liberal trendies who were killed, the same people who are promoting open borders, bringing Islamists in.

ALEX JONES: Yes.

MEGYN KELLY: In response to which, many people looked at the victims, many of whom were 15, 14. There was a little eight…

ALEX JONES: No. I’m sorry I didn’t blow ‘em up. I know. But I did something bad, though?

Kelly referred to Jones’ responses as “classic Alex Jones.”

“That pattern, reckless accusations followed by equivocation and excuses, is classic Alex Jones,” she said.

The immediate reaction to the segment was mixed, with both Kelly and Jones supporters calling it a victory for their side. Many critics concluded that the much-hyped interview was neither as “dreadful” as had been feared nor as hard-hitting as it could have been. Far-right commentators panned the interview as a “hatchet job” and a “hit piece.”

Others said the interview had been “unobjectionable” at best, with Kelly asking “tough questions” but not demanding “hard answers” in return.

Said Slate’s Will Oremus: “We already knew Jones was a liar and a poseur. We learned next to nothing new about the deeper question of how and why he rose to prominence, and what that says about America and the media today.”

Still others, however, retained the view that the segment had provided a mainstream platform to a fringe conspiracy theorist and his outlandish views.

Jones touted the interview as a huge win. Live-streaming his reaction to the segment, Jones ― who raged against Kelly, calling her a “liar” ― popped open a bottle of champagne and toasted his victory.

A scan of social media also shows the interview won Jones a few new fans.

Jay Z Also Gives Birth — To New Album '4:44'

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Congratulations Jay Z, it’s a new album!

On the heels of wife Beyonce delivering twins, the rapper’s streaming service announced Sunday he will be releasing a new album on June 30.

At first it will be available “exclusively” to customers of Jay Z’s Tidal service and Sprint, to which he sold a share of Tidal in January.

It has a name, “4:44,” and it apparently has a video. A short, moody clip of “Moonlight” Oscar winner Mahershala Ali playing a boxer and Danny Glover as his trainer has been posted.

“Letter to my dad that I never wrote/Speeches I prepared that I never spoke/Words on a paper that I never read/Prose is never penned, they stayed in my head,” Jay Z raps in the clip.

The hip-hop mogul had launched an enigmatic campaign recently but what exactly he was advertising wasn’t clear until now, Billboard noted.

The release will mark his first studio album since 2013’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” Entertainment Tonight reported.

Jay Z will have several opportunities to show off his new material live, including the Made in America fest in Philadelphia Sept. 2-3 and the Meadows Festival at Citi Field in New York City on Sept. 15, the New York Daily news reported.

In a press release, Sprint President Marcelo Claure called Jay Z a “global icon” in announcing the album first-look offer to Sprint customers.
