Amazon made July 11th its own shopping holiday because why not? When you’re one of the biggest online retailers on the planet, you can afford such a luxury. Who needs Black Friday or Cyber Monday then? The company has confirmed that it’s bringing back Amazon Prime Day on July 11th, 2017.
July 11th will see Amazon conducting its third annual Prime Day online sale. The company is promising discounts on a wide variety of products as well as lucrative deals on sough after products that are not to be missed.
The sale obviously gives Amazon the chance to get rid of old stock that’s taking up valuable space in its warehouses. Since Prime Day is exclusive to Prime members, it also serves as an opportunity to drive new members to Amazon Prime.
Customers will be able to take full advantage of the Amazon Prime Day 2017 discounts starting July 10th at 6PM PST. The company will offer some early deals as well, those discounts will be available as early as July 5th.
Amazon hasn’t revealed a lot of details about the kind of discounts and deals that we can expect on Prime Day this year. It did take a lot of flak last year due to the poor range of products on offer so, hopefully, the offerings will be better this time around.

The Snapdragon 435 processor from Qualcomm powered quite a lot of low-end and mid-range Android smartphones. Qualcomm has now announced the successor to this chip, it’s called the Snapdragon 450. This chip is now going to power the next crop of budget Android handsets and, among other things, it’s claim to fame will be support for dual cameras.
The Snapdragon 450 is the first chip of its kind to use the 14nm FinFET processor which enables it to deliver significant improvements in battery life, performance, graphics, and LTE connectivity.
The company claims that the higher-performing octacore ARM Cortex A53 CPU provides a 25 percent increase in compute performance as well as a 25 percent increase in graphics performance compared to the Snapdragon 435.
Qualcomm has made improvements to the chip’s power management features to squeeze up to four additional hours of usage time compared to its predecessor aside from a 30 percent cut in power when gaming. The chip also has Quick Charge 3.0 support.
The Snapdragon 450 has been designed to include support for enhanced dual camera at 13 megapixel + 13 megapixel resolutions or support single cameras up to 21 megapixel with hybrid autofocus, 1080p video capture, and playback at up to 60 frames-per-second.
Commercial sampling of the new chip will begin in the third quarter of this year. Budget handsets powered by the Snapdragon 450 processor will be available by the end of this year.
