We're Here For Draymond Green And LeBron James Trolling Each Other

LeBron James and Draymond Green have been trolling each other on social media and they are officially the kings of pettiness.

The basketball stars have taken their competitiveness off the courts in what started as a T-shirt tete-a-tete.

Last year, when LeBron returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers, he rocked an “Ultimate Warrior” shirt as a way of throwing shade to the Golden State Warriors for beating them in the NBA Finals.

Unsurprisingly, after the Warriors defeated the Cavs in this year’s NBA Finals, Draymond Green got his revenge on LeBron. Green has been waiting for awhile to get revenge, so it was a petty king’s dream come true when got the chance to wear a “Quickie” shirt on Thursday afternoon. “Quickie” is in reference to Quicken Loans Arena, the location of the Cavs’ home games.

Not to be outdone, LeBron posted a photo of Green in the shirt on Instagram with the caption, “…that’s what she said, huh?!”

A post shared by LeBron James (@kingjames) on Jun 15, 2017 at 12:13pm PDT

Just minutes later, Draymond ‘grammed a photo of LeBron’s newly shaved head:

Green’s dig would seem decent if not for James’ fans going wild for his shiny, new dome. There’s already speculation that Bald LeBron will be the best LeBron yet.

The trolling is all in good fun so we can only hope they continue to dunk (we’re sorry) on each other.

The Hourly Income You Need To Afford Rent Around The U.S.

Full-time workers who make minimum wage can’t afford a two-bedroom rental home in any state in the U.S. without spending more than the recommended 30 percent of their income, according to a report from the National Low Income Housing Coalition.

The group’s annual “Out of Reach” report compares minimum wages and housing costs in states, metropolitan areas and counties across the country. This year’s results show the hourly wage rate needed for a “modest” two-bedroom rental is more than double the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour in all but four states.

Arkansas has the lowest hourly income needed for a two-bedroom rental at $13.72, and the state minimum wage is $8.50, the report said. Hawaii demands the highest income of renters: Workers need to make $35.20 to rent a two-bedroom there, and the state minimum wage is just $9.25.

At federal minimum wage, the average American worker would need to log 117-hour weeks for 52 weeks per year to afford a two-bedroom apartment or rental home, according to the report. For the overwhelming majority, not even sharing a dual income with a federal minimum wage-earning partner would cover a two-bedroom rental in their state.

It’s a grim outlook similar to the group’s previous two reports, which also showed sobering disparities between income and rent. The report’s authors say poor political decisions are to blame.

“[The report] shows why millions of low income renters are struggling to afford their homes,” NLIHC president Diane Yentel said in a press release. “We have the resources to solve the affordable housing crisis in America by rebalancing federal housing expenditures to serve our country’s most vulnerable households. We lack only the political will to do so.”

Minimum wage hasn’t kept up with inflation: In 1968, the federal minimum wage was equivalent to $10.90 in 2015 dollars ― nearly $4 higher than today’s actual federal minimum wage, CNBC reports.

Dolce & Gabbana Takes On Melania Trump 'Haters' By Selling This $245 T-Shirt

Stefano Gabbana loves Melania Trump and he doesn’t care what you think.

The outspoken fashion designer’s brand recently released a white T-shirt that says “#Boycott Dolce & Gabbana.” The shirt trolls critics who disagree with Gabbana’s steadfast support of the first lady and often call for boycotts of the fashion house.

“Dolce & Gabbana boycotts itself,” reads a caption on the brand’s official account, accompanied by a photo of the $245 shirt.

“All the lovers and all the #HATERS Reliving #boycottdolcegabbana,” the designer wrote on his personal Instagram account.

”What a stylish way to communicate your contempt for democracy and basic human decency,” one commenter wrote on a photo of the shirt. Another added, “Your brand is getting more and more pathetic.”

Over the past few months, Gabbana has posted fawning Instagrams of Melania Trump, as well as Ivanka Trump, wearing Dolce & Gabbana:

It doesn’t look like he’ll be stopping anytime soon.

After Shooting Of GOP Lawmakers, Senate Extremism Hearing Focuses Only On Muslims

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Early Wednesday morning in Alexandria, Virginia, a 66-year-old white man opened fire on a group of Republican lawmakers practicing for an upcoming charity baseball game. Six were injured, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), who remains in critical condition.

But hours later and a few miles away inside the U.S. Senate, a hearing on violent extremism paid little to no attention to extremism of this non-Muslim variety. Instead three selected witnesses spoke in sweeping generalizations about the world’s second-largest religion, and submitted wild conspiracy theories about American Muslims into the public record.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs subcommittee hearing on “Ideology and Terror: Understanding the Tools, Tactics, and Techniques of Violent Extremism” was organized by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI).

Among the witnesses invited to testify were Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Asra Nomani, both of whom are known less for their expertise on extremism than they are for their spreading fear of Islam.

Ali, a Somali-born former Dutch Member of Parliament, is listed as an anti-Muslim extremist by the Southern Poverty Law Center. She’s called Islam a “destructive, nihilistic cult of death” which needs to be “defeated” militarily. She has said that Islam is “at war with America” and that “there is no moderate Islam.”

Nomani, a Muslim-American and former reporter at the Wall Street Journal, has supported the profiling of Muslims at airports and said she was “relieved” the NYPD engaged in mass, suspicion-less surveillance of Muslims in New York. She made headlines in 2016 when she declared her support for President Donald Trump’s campaign that was awash in anti-Muslim vitriol. She later went on to support Trump’s Muslim ban.

In Ali’s and Nomani’s submitted testimonies Wednesday, the pair describe mainstream American Muslim organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim Public Affairs Council as players in a worldwide conspiracy to Islamize Western countries like the U.S., replacing their laws with brutal interpretations of Sharia, or Islamic law.

Both of their testimonies take on a decidedly McCarthy-esque tone at times, raising alarm over, as Ali puts it, Muslim “subversion from within.”

Ali’s testimony speaks glowingly of efforts in Europe to shut down mosques, and calls on Congress to give President Trump the power to “identify and dismantle” Islamist groups in the U.S.

Nomani’s testimony states that “we must investigate, expose and blacklist all state and non-state sponsors” of Islamism, including “mosques, nonprofits, schools, think tanks, academic institutions and thought leaders.”

Another witness, John Lenczowski, founder and president of the Institute of World Politics, warned of “civilizational Jihad,” the unhinged conspiracy theory that Muslims are plotting to take over Western countries.

After immigrating to non-Muslim countries like the U.S., Lenczowski writes in his testimony, Muslims seek to set up “parallel” societies for Sharia law, and then, “through greater birth rates than those of the native population” establish “irreversible” and “preponderate political influence.”

Lenczowski’s testimony also dredged up other thoroughly debunked ideas. He says there are “no-go zones” in Europe ― there are not ― “where the native police cannot venture without unusual danger…” He also states that Sharia law is supplanting U.S. law in some places. It is not

Wednesday’s hearing was the tenth held by Sen. Johnson on violent extremism, all of which have focused exclusively on radical jihadism.

“We face a threat from a variety of sources on radicalization, including white supremacists, eco-terrorists, ISIS, al Qaeda sympathizers,” Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri), the subcommittee’s leading Democrat, said in her opening statement.

In fact, non-Muslim extremism has taken nearly as many lives since Sept. 11 as so-called radical Jihadism in the U.S. As Foreign Policy notes, a 2017 U.S. Government Accountability Office report found that far-right extremists killed 106 people in the United States between Sept. 12, 2001 and Dec. 31, 2016. Islamic extremists killed 119 people during that same time period.

In a submitted statement to the Senate Wednesday, the Muslim Public Affairs Council said it was “dismayed” that the hearing focused “almost exclusively on the Muslim community.”

“The singling out of Muslims in this manner only breeds fear, cements a narrative of a cosmic war between Islam against the West, and flies in the face of actual trends of domestic violent extremism,” MPAC wrote.

MPAC also expressed concern over the selection of Ali and Nomani as panelists at Wednesday’s hearing.

“It is great cause for alarm that neither of the panelists who purport to understand the American Muslim experience have any demonstrable experience working with American Muslim communities,” MPAC wrote. “If they had, they would know that American Muslims across the nation work tirelessly to make our country safer, provide essential services to their congregations, and contribute to the prosperity of our society.”

Sen. Johnson’s office did not respond to a HuffPost request for comment.

Steve Harvey Jokes That Flint Resident Should Enjoy 'Brown Glass Of Water'

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Steve Harvey says he was just joking, but does his explanation hold any water?

Wednesday, a man who said he was from Flint, Michigan, reportedly called in to the “Family Feud” host’s radio show and gave Harvey a hard time about the Cleveland Cavaliers losing the NBA Championship. The caller supposedly said Cleveland didn’t “deserve jack.”

Harvey, being a Cavs fan, was perturbed.

The comedian reportedly fired back by making jokes about the water crisis in the Michigan city, saying the man didn’t even have clean water, according to Detroit Free Press and MLive

In a video clip posted from the exchange, Harvey’s co-hosts can be heard telling the comedian to “reel it in.” Harvey says he was just talking about the caller, not the city of Flint.

Harvey persisted, and before the caller hung up, he added, “Enjoy your nice brown glass of water.”

As Uproxx notes, Harvey’s comments come around the same time that officials were charged with involuntary manslaughter over their handling of the Flint crisis, which has resulted in 12 deaths connected an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease.

The Twitter backlash was immediate.

The mayor of Flint, Karen Weaver, reportedly called for an apology, sending a letter saying, “I was deeply saddened by your comments about our city. While I feel it was not meant to be an intentional hurt or insult against the citizens of this community, it was.”

Harvey issued a statement that he and the caller were “talking trash about our teams and cities.”

The comedian went on to say, “Any attempts to craft this into anything more serves no one.”

Rep. Steve King Says Obama Is Partly To Blame For Alexandria Shooting

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) is pointing a finger at former President Barack Obama for the attack on Republican lawmakers at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday.

“I do want to put some of this at the feet of Barack Obama,” the congressman said in an interview with Simon Conway on WHO Iowa radio. “He contributed mightily to dividing us. He focused on our differences rather than our things that unify us. And this is some of the fruits of that labor.”

Earlier Wednesday, King stopped by the crime scene to pray and told The Washington Post: “America has been divided. And the center of America is disappearing, and the violence is appearing in the streets, and it’s coming from the left.”

He also echoed this sentiment on Twitter.

After the shooting, Obama called Sen. Jeff Flake (R- Ariz.), whom Obama maintained good relations with during his presidency, to send “best wishes and prayers to those injured,” Flake told the Los Angeles Times.

Although King does have a point about the nation being divided, he is clearly unaware that his own hateful rhetoric — especially toward people who are not white, Christian or U.S.-born — contributes to the divide.

In 2016, King said on “All In With Chris Hayes” on MSNBC that people who are white have contributed to civilization more than any other “subgroup.”

In March, he suggested that Muslim children were preventing “our civilization” from being restored.

And in April, when a King staffer failed to show up for a meeting with a Latina constituent who called him out for the runaround, he responded with a tweet that said, “Do you always lie in English?”

So, basically, take his comments with grain — or an ocean’s worth — of salt.

Barber Provides Free Haircuts To Men Looking To Land Job Interviews

When Rahaman Kilpatrick left Philadelphia in 1992, he took the city’s mantra of brotherly love right along with him. The self-taught barber offers free haircuts to men with upcoming job interviews and students with steadily improving grades.

Kilpatrick, who now resides in Maryland, mentors a community men’s group in Washington, D.C., as well as a group of teens and young men ― consisting of 13- to 21-year-olds ― at the nonprofit organization Horton’s Kids. Luckily for these mentees, Kilpatrick, who’s been cutting hair for almost 30 years, understands the fundamentals of feeling good, which is why he’s offering free cuts.

“I started giving free haircuts for any teen who could come up one letter grade or who could bring in a test where they got a C or better,” Kilpatrick, a Morgan State University alumnus, said in an email to HuffPost on Wednesday. “People may not have the money to consistently get haircuts or any at all.”

“Teens are always dealing with self-esteem [issues]. Having a fresh haircut for school, prom, graduation, etc., makes them feel so much better about themselves,” he continued.

These cuts also give Kilpatrick some more one-on-one time to pick the young men’s brains and ensure they’re not out here cuttin’ up.

“I quickly realized that haircuts are like a truth serum and having them in the chair for 20 minutes gave me the opportunity to talk to them about everything from how to treat women and the importance of good grades to safe sex and making better day-to-day decisions,” he said.

But Kilpatrick knows it’s not just the young folks who want to look crisp ― which is why he expanded his barber services to those in the men’s group he operates.

“I find that one of the biggest struggles the men have is finding employment, so I started teaching them how to write [and] improve their resumes [and] practicing interviewing skills,” Kilpatrick said. “I started giving free haircuts if they have a job interview. Sometimes during the meetings, I could sense if one of the men was feeling down, so I would offer a haircut to make him feel better about himself.”

Putting on a shirt and tie with a fresh haircut gives them the confidence they need to go in and ace the interview.”

Kilpatrick wants to spread the community love that he regularly practices with the hashtag #TheGiveBack, which he hopes will persuade others to also walk a philanthropic path.

“I would love more people to come out and volunteer in not only my community, but in communities like the one I serve in every city,” he said.

Kilpatrick’s community does need more do-gooders like himself to spread the love. The 43-year-old has fibromyalgia, a physical disorder that causes widespread muscle pain and tenderness, and working on his feet is not ideal.

“I’m the only person cutting everybody in the neighborhood’s hair, which is taxing on my body,” he said.

Despite this, Kilpatrick remains committed to serving his community until someone else is ready to pick up the benevolent barber’s baton.

“I give free haircuts to motivate people, to help them to want more and work harder at doing better,” he said. “Whether it’s leading a men’s group or a rap session with my teens, I always want them to leave feeling motivated, like they can take over the world.”
