Galaxy Note 8 With Android 7.1.1 Spotted

We can expect to see a lot of rumors and reports about the Galaxy Note 8 in the months to come as Samsung’s next flagship smartphone is one of the most highly anticipated devices of 2017. That’s partly because it’s the successor to the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung’s ill-fated flagship phablet that requires no introduction. The upcoming Galaxy Note handset has now been spotted on the HTML5Test’s database, the test mule was running Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

It’s common for devices that are in the pipeline to show up on online databases. It’s only a matter of time before we see benchmark listings for the Galaxy Note 8 as well. They offer us a glimpse of what to expect from these devices.

HTML5Test is a respected online benchmark for gauging web browser performance. The Galaxy Note 8 test unit appears to have scored 488 out of a total of 555 points in this benchmark, which is respectable when compared with existing devices.

The Galaxy Note 8 is certainly going to have flagship-level specifications. Rumors suggest that it will have a 6.3 inch Infinity Display, a Snapdragon 836 processor with 4GB RAM, dual cameras and speakers as well as a fingerprint sensor at the back.

Samsung started developing firmware for the Galaxy Note 8 in April this year. There are reports that Samsung might unveil the Galaxy Note 8 in August this year even though it usually unveils new Galaxy Note handsets at IFA in Berlin which takes place every September.

Destiny 2 For Xbox One X Has No Specific Enhancements

Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One X at E3 2017 earlier this week. It’s not only the most powerful Xbox that Microsoft has ever created. It’s also the most powerful console available on the market right now. Several games are taking advantage of the power that it offers by delivering specific enhancements to their games for the Xbox One. Bungie is not going to be doing that for Destiny 2.

While Bungie confirmed Destiny 2 several weeks ago, it confirmed more details about the title at E3 2017. The developer’s design lead Lars Bakken told WCCFTech that there will be no specific Destiny 2 enhancements for the Xbox One X.

It has previously been confirmed that Destiny 2 is going to run at 30 frames-per-second on the Xbox One X which is the same framerate that PS4 Pro owners will get, even though Microsoft doesn’t consider the PS4 Pro as an Xbox One X competitor.

Bakken said that Bungie is going to provide a similar gaming experience on all platforms so it won’t be making any specific enhancements to Destiny 2 so that it can take advantage of the extra power that the new console offers.

While fans who were thinking about playing Destiny 2 on both the Xbox One X and PC at the same time will not be happy about this, at least they can find solace in the fact that Destiny 2 is coming to the PC and that it will be able to hit 4K and 60 frames-per-second on that platform.

Bungie is due to release Destiny 2 for consoles on September 6th, 2017. It will be released for PC on October 24th.

After 46 Years, Yoko Ono Is Finally Credited For Co-Writing 'Imagine'

After 46 years, Yoko Ono is finally receiving the credit she deserves. The iconic multidisciplinary artist was officially credited as a co-writer of the 1971 song “Imagine,” currently attributed to Ono’s deceased husband, John Lennon.

The news was announced Wednesday at a meeting of the National Music Publishers Association by its CEO, David Israelite. He also bestowed “Imagine” with the Centennial Song award.

“While things may have been different in 1971, today I am glad to say things have changed,” Israelite said. “So tonight it is my distinct honor to correct the record some 48 years later and recognize Yoko Ono as a co-writer of the NMPA centennial song ‘Imagine,’ and to present Yoko Ono with this well-deserved credit.”

He then played an archival interview, in which Lennon explains that the song would not exist without Ono. “[Imagine] should be credited as a Lennon-Ono song,” he said. “Because a lot of it — the lyric and the concept — came from Yoko. But those days I was a bit more selfish, a bit more macho, and I sort of omitted to mention her contribution. But it was right out of Grapefruit, her book. There’s a whole pile of pieces about ‘imagine this’ and ‘imagine that.’”

Seven years before “Imagine,” Ono self-published Grapefruit, a little gem of a book, unruly and quiet at once, filled with strange wishes and demands. “Imagine your body spreading rapidly all over the world like thin tissue,” one line reads. “Imagine cutting out one part of the tissue.”

Sean Lennon accompanied his mother, Ono, who uses a wheelchair, onstage to accept the Centennial Song award. According to Lennon, the artist welled up with tears upon hearing the announcement. Onstage, Ono said her waning health has heightened her appreciation of the song and imbued her with a magnified esteem for being alive, Variety reported.

“This is the best time of my life,” she said, to applause.

Congratulations, Yoko. It’s about time.

As Rebel Wilson celebrates victory in her defamation case, we’re celebrating the brilliant look she wore for the occasion.

Wilson sued Australia’s Bauer Media Group after it published a series of articles claiming she “had lied about her age, real name and some childhood experiences,” according to Reuters.

We admire her courage to stand up for herself and her career. But that dress though!

Wilson’s sharp black and white shirtdress, worn with patent leather flats, is a pitch perfect lesson in courtroom attire. She looked both professional and oh-so-chic.

The actress also shared a photo on Instagram thanking her family, friends and supporters. “Just crushed my defamation case in Australia,” she wrote.

Dascha Polanco Says Hollywood Wants 'Fake Latinas'

Dascha Polanco of the prison drama “Orange Is the New Black” says she’s been confined off-screen by Hollywood’s attitude toward Latina actresses.

In an interview with Vivala posted this week, the Dominican-American said she has felt expectations to conceal her Afro-Latina features and was even told she looked “too Latina” for a Latina role.

“We have to be ‘fake Latinas,’” Polanco said. “And here’s the thing about ‘fake Latinas’ – when you look at Latinas who are succeeding in Hollywood, they’re super thin and you really can’t tell if she’s Latina or not.”

Polanco, 34, told the outlet that genetics testing determined that some of her roots originate from the Iberian Peninsula and 31 percent from the African nation of Mali ― and they are apparent, she said.

She said she used to wonder if having lighter eyes and a thinner body would land her more roles. But she doesn’t appear to be hurting for work now.

Polanco has played inmate Dayanara Diaz on “OITNB” since 2013 (Season 5 is now available on Netflix) and wrapped shooting on what Deadline billed as her first starring role in a film in the dark comedy “iCreep.”

“Every day, I am learning how to love myself more,” Polanco told Vivala.

Vladimir Putin Trolls James Comey Over 'Strange' Memo Leak

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Russian President Vladimir Putin took a jab at former FBI Director James Comey Thursday by offering him asylum in Russia should he face political prosecution in the U.S. for leaking information to the media.

Comey told the Senate intelligence committee last week that he shared a copy of a memo describing conversations he had with President Donald Trump with a friend and encouraged him to leak it to the media.

Putin called the move “really strange” and compared Comey to whistleblower Edward Snowden, who has sought asylum in Russia since 2013 after leaking classified documents from the National Security Agency.

“It looks really strange when you memorize your conversation with the commander-in-chief and then you leak it to the press,” Putin said during a televised question-and-answer session with a selected group of Russians. “Does it make him any different to Mr. Snowden?”

“We would be ready to offer political asylum to Comey if he’s persecuted in the U.S.,” he added.

Comey defended his decision to share the information with a friend who then passed it on to The New York Times by noting that the information was not classified and that he was a private citizen after Trump fired him as FBI director in early May.

“I was a private citizen. I thought it was important to get it out,” Comey testified. “My judgment was, I needed to get that out into the public square, and so I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter.”

Comey described in the memo a February meeting at which Trump allegedly said he hoped the then-FBI director would drop the bureau’s investigation of Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn. Flynn is the subject of several federal investigations into whether Trump associates colluded with Russian government officials during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The U.S. intelligence community has said definitively that the Russian government attempted to meddle in last November’s election by launching an influence campaign that included a series of cyberattacks against the Democratic National Committee. Putin has repeatedly denied the hacking.

Pamela Anderson Looks So Pretty In Pale Pink

No one is safe from the seductive, aesthetically pleasing millennial pink phenomenon. Not even Pamela Anderson.

The 49-year-old attended a gala in Northampton, England Wednesday wearing a perfectly pale pink gown and a tousled updo.

The front of the gown can’t be seen plainly in any of the photos. Perhaps that’s because, as any millennial will tell you, the key to getting the most likes on a photo is highlighting the best part of your look.

In Anderson’s case, that is undoubtedly this adorable, ruffled trim.

She appears to have paired the dress with pink earrings, matching the floral centerpieces and rounding out her delightfully on-trend look.

So pretty, Pammy.

2 Cases Of Legionnaires' Disease In Newborns Linked To Water Births

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Two babies in Arizona who were delivered via “water birth” recently developed Legionnaires’ disease, a type of bacterial lung infection, just days after they were born, according to a new report.

Both infants recovered after being hospitalized, and the cases were unrelated, the report said. But the health experts who investigated the cases “identified numerous gaps in infection prevention for water births” that may have contributed to the babies’ exposure to the Legionella bacteria that made them sick, they wrote in their report.

In the first case, which occurred in January 2016, the baby was delivered by a midwife into a tub filled with tap water. The tub was cleaned and filled right before the delivery, and the baby did not appear to inhale any of the water during birth, the report said. [9 Uncommon Conditions That Pregnancy May Bring]

But a day later, the baby started to have trouble breathing and was taken to the hospital. The baby was found to have both Legionnaires’ disease and a congenital heart condition that was not related to the infection. Legionella bacteria can grow in water systems, including hot tubs, air conditioners and plumbing systems, according to the report, from researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Maricopa County (Arizona) Department of Public Health.

In the second case, which occurred in April 2016, the baby was born at home in a rented Jacuzzi hot tub with spa jets, the report said. The tub was placed in the mother’s bedroom and was filled with tap water that was heated to 98.0 degrees Fahrenheit (36.7 degrees Celsius). The filled, heated tub sat in the bedroom for about a week before the baby’s delivery. During the birth, the mother first labored outside the tub, and then entered the tub only for the delivery, the report said. The baby did not appear to have inhaled any water during birth, the doctors wrote in the report.

But three days after birth, the baby developed a high fever and was taken to the hospital, where the infant tested positive for Legionella bacteria.

In both of these cases, the babies were treated with the antibiotic azithromycin for 10 days. The infant in the first case remained hospitalized for two months, mainly because of the newborn’s heart condition, and the baby in the second case was released from the hospital after about a week, the report said.

The researchers noted that tap water is not sterile, and that Legionella bacteria can grow and spread in plumbing systems. In addition, the high temperature of the water used in the Jacuzzi was within the optimum range for Legionella growth, they said.

Cases of Legionnaires’ disease in newborn infants are rare. In Arizona, there was just one case of the disease in a newborn between 2011 and 2015, according to the report. [7 Baby Myths Debunked]

There was also a case of an infant in Texas who died of Legionnaires’ disease after a water birth in 2014. Helped in part by guidelines developed in Texas after that case, the researchers who wrote the new report put together their own educational resources and guidelines for midwives in Arizona. For example, one of the new recommendations is to let hot water run for 3 minutes before filling the birthing tub, which can help reduce the risk of Legionella infection, the researchers said.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) says that undergoing the early stages of labor in water may offer some benefits, such as shorter labor, and so laboring in water is an option that may be offered to healthy women who are at least 37 weeks pregnant.

However, there isn’t enough data on the risks and benefits of actually delivering the baby in water for the ACOG to recommend this method. Therefore, the ACOG recommends that births not take place in water. If a woman requests to give birth in water, she should be informed that the risks of this practice haven’t been studied sufficiently, the ACOG says.

In addition, facilities that offer water birth should establish rigorous protocols for the maintenance and cleaning of tubs and pools, and should have plans for how to move women from the tub if complications were to develop, the ACOG says.

The report is published today (June 8) in the CDC’s journal Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.

WASHINGTON ― A dog who went missing following Wednesday’s shooting at a congressional baseball practice was found early Thursday, according to police in Alexandria, Virginia.

Daphne, a black and white pointer mix, was at a dog park adjacent to the site of the shooting, when she ran away after being “scared off by the gunshots,” according to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which assisted in the search.

An Alexandria police officer found the dog early Thursday, according to Abbie Hubbard, the League’s deputy director.

“She is being reunited with her pet sitter, right in front of me,” Hubbard told HuffPost Thursday morning, saying that Daphne’s owner was out of town.

“I can tell you that Daphne is very delighted,” Hubbard added.

The Animal Welfare League, as well as other animal rescue groups in the Washington area, helped spread the word about the missing dog on social media.

Alexandria Police did not immediately return a request for comment.

Wednesday morning, a gunman opened fire at a congressional baseball practice, wounding six people, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.). Scalise was in critical condition at a Washington hospital as of Thursday morning.

GOP Congressman Suggests Trump Probe Should Consider He's New To Politics

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Investigators should consider President Donald Trump’s lack of political experience when determining whether he committed obstruction of justice, a Republican congressman suggested Thursday.

Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) said on NPR’s “Morning Edition” that the investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia was “healthy.” But he cautioned investigators who are reportedly probing whether Trump committed obstruction of justiceFormer FBI Director James Comey testified earlier this month Trump asked him to drop an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn and requested Comey publicly declare Trump was not under FBI investigation.

Schweikert seemed to suggest that Trump should get a pass on such a charge because he was new to politics.

“We also have to be real careful from the standpoint that we have a president that’s not from the political class,” he said. “The learning of the discipline use of language and what certain words mean in our context, if you’re not from this world, you may not have developed that discipline.”

The comment prompted NPR’s Steve Inskeep to point out that the president of the United States has an entire staff and lawyers to advise him on what’s appropriate to say.

Schweikert’s defense of Trump echoed that of House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). Earlier this month, Ryan also excused the president’s behavior by citing his lack of political experience.

“The president is new at this,” Ryan said. “He’s new to government. And so he probably wasn’t steeped into the long-going protocols that established the relationships between DOJ, FBI and White Houses.”

Trump has strongly pushed back on the investigation, calling it a “witch hunt.”
