Yankees Outfielder Aaron Hicks Shuts Down Angels' Grand Slam

Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks just shut the Angels down with an epic catch.

The New York Yankees had a four-point lead over the Los Angeles Angels at the bottom of the first inning Wednesday night when Luis Valbuena, the Angels’ power-hitting infielder, drove the ball straight down center field with the bases loaded.

It looked liked Valbuena’s hit was headed for a grand slam over the center field fence, but then Hicks leapt high and grabbed it over the wall.

The Angels were dutifully denied.

The Yankees rubbed that epic moment in the Angels’ faces by hijacking the California team’s unofficial slogan and repurposing it with a slow-motion replay.

Despite the shade, the Angels were good sports about the tweet and tipped their hats to Hicks’ talent in the outfield.

Late Wednesday, though, the Angels came back to lead 7-5 in the bottom of the seventh.

MSNBC's Chuck Todd Calls Out Partisan ‘Toxic Stew’ After Shooter Targets Congressmen

”Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd is calling out political partisans eager to place blame after Wednesday’s shooting in Alexandria, Virginia, in which six people were injured, including two members of Congress.

“Folks, some want to blame the left or the right or us in the media,” he said on “Meet the Press Daily” on MSNBC. “But here’s who it seems too many folks don’t want to blame: themselves.”

He added:

We are all to blame. This toxic stew that passes for political discourse seems beyond repair in the current moment. Just look at social media. For too long, our collective politics has demonized the other side for caustic behavior while rationalizing that same behavior when it comes from someone who shares their politics.

“Maybe we ought to borrow another phrase that we’re all asked to do: ‘When you see something, say something.’ And for political leaders, when you see caustic behavior, no matter if that person agrees with you, why don’t you say something to them?”

Elsewhere in the segment, he said the media also have a role to play.

We need to be calling out caustic rhetoric when it’s there and not fighting back with caustic rhetoric,” he said. “What-about-ism is among the worst instincts of partisans on both sides. When somebody says, ‘This,’ they say, ‘Well, what about that?’ That’s not the issue. Hopefully everybody is looking in the mirror tonight.”

Police say James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois, opened fire as Republicans and staff members practiced in the Washington suburb for an upcoming bipartisan baseball game.

The attack left House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) critically injured, while Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas) injured his ankle amid the panic. Two police officers, a congressional aide and a lobbyist were wounded in the shooting.

Hodgkinson, reportedly a former volunteer for the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign, had been openly critical of President Donald Trump.

The ambition of 'Beyond Good and Evil 2' might exceed the hype

We’ve waited a long time for the sequel to Beyond Good and Evil. And you know what? They actually went and did it. Arguably the biggest surprise of E3 2017 was a minute-long trailer teasing a game that barely seems recognizable to the 2003 original….

Bungie Explains Why Destiny 2 For PC Is Released At A Later Date

When the folks at Bungie first announced Destiny 2, it was revealed that the game would be arriving on console first before being released on the PC. It was unclear why that was the case, but during an interview with Polygon at E3, Bungie and Vicarious Visions revealed the reason why and that is because they wanted to get it right.

Destiny 2’s launch on the PC marks the first time in the Destiny franchise that the game will be arriving on the computer (although to be fair it is only the second title in the series). According to Vicarious Visions’ Thomas Gawrys, “The honest truth is we want it to land super solid. We want to meet the expectations of PC gamers — they have expectations for what they want and we want to make sure we hit as many of those as we can.”

Bungie’s David Shaw adds, “It really is as simple as ‘we want to get it right.’ That’s the reason there was no PC version of Destiny 1 is because we didn’t feel we could do it in a way that could honor the PC gamer [and] would really nail it. With Destiny 2, we had the team, we had the talent, we found great partners in [Vicarious Visions]. One more extension of being able to do it right is that we needed that extra bit of time.”

Destiny 2 is currently set for a release on the 6th of September for consoles, while the PC version is expected to launch on the 24th of October a month and a half later.

Microsoft Will Apparently Not Be Profiting From The Xbox One X

Xbox One X Console Controller Gray Shadow

At E3 2017, Microsoft finally took the wraps off the Xbox One X which was formerly known as Project Scorpio. They also revealed the pricing of the console which was set at $499, a price that Microsoft appears to be pretty proud of. However it seems that despite being priced much higher than the competition, it doesn’t seem like Microsoft will be raking in the big bucks.

Speaking to Business Insider, Xbox chief Phil Spencer confirmed that the company would not be profiting from Xbox One X sales. When asked if this meant that Microsoft will be making a loss, Spencer replied that wasn’t what he meant, but declined to provide further details, but it seems that Microsoft is banking on customers purchasing games and subscribing to services to make money.

According to Spencer, “I don’t want to get into all the numbers, but in aggregate you should think about the hardware part of the console business is not the money-making part of the business. The money-making part is in selling games.” One of the key features of the Xbox One X is that it can run games in 4K at 60fps, and a recent screenshot of Minecraft in 4K shows off how great games could look.

In any case it remains to be seen if gamers will react favorably to the Xbox One X when it is released later this year on the 7th of November.

Splatoon 2 For The Switch Will Run At 1080p @ 60fps Docked

When the Nintendo Switch was launched, many were a little skeptical about the console’s capabilities especially given its specs which seemed like a souped up version of the NVIDIA SHIELD tablet. Then again Nintendo’s games were never really meant to be ultra realistic to begin with.

However for those who do care about performance, then you might be pleased to learn that the Switch is more than capable of handling its own. During Nintendo’s Treehouse Live Stream, the company shared a technical update about Splatoon 2 and according to one of the staff who demonstrated the game, it seems that Splatoon 2 will be capable of running at 1080p Full HD @ 60fps when docked to a TV.

That changes to 720p when undocked, which we guess has been the case with most Switch games so far. The game’s producer Hisashi Nogami confirmed that this information is correct, so it looks like gamers who are planning to get Splatoon 2 will be able to enjoy relatively crisp graphics at a buttery smooth frame rate.

Splatoon 2 is currently set for a release on the 21st of July, 2017 where it will be finding its way onto the Nintendo Switch. You can check out a demonstration of Splatoon 2 in the video above.

Apple Wants To Turn Your iPhone Into A ‘One-Stop-Shop’ For Medical Info

We know that Apple is interested in health/medical-related technology. For example there are rumors circulating that Apple could have some kind of glucose monitoring system in the works for the Apple Watch and that Apple has a “secret team” working on it. Turns out that’s not the only secret team at Apple.

In a report from CNBC, it seems that Apple has another secret team that is working on transforming your iPhone into a one-stop-shop for all medical related information. The idea is that iPhone users will be able to store all their medical information on their devices, so that whenever they visit a doctor, they’ll be able to pull up all the latest and most updated information about themselves and present it to doctors.

This saves time from doctors from having to retrieve patient files themselves, which could be handy especially if you’re visiting a new doctor or traveling to somewhere foreign and where the doctor might not have access to your files. The report from CNBC reveals that Apple has been in talks with various developers, hospitals, and other industry groups.

They have likened this system to what Apple has done for music with iTunes, where there will be a central location for users to find all things health related. Unfortunately there’s no word on when exactly this is expected to debut, but given that Apple did not announce anything like this at WWDC, perhaps we’re still quite some ways off from it being made a reality, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

Google Drive Will Soon Backup Your Entire Computer

Google Drive is one of the many cloud storage services available at the moment, and for the most part it does a great job of backing up your documents and photos in the cloud. However if you wanted to use it to backup more things on your computer, like maybe your entire computer itself, that will soon be a thing.

According to Google’s post on the G Suite Blog, Google Drive will be getting a new app in the form of Backup and Sync. From what we can tell from Google’s post, Backup and Sync will be replacing the standard Google Drive and Google Photos Backup app for Mac and PCs, but the existing Drive app will continue to stick around if that’s what users prefer as Backup and Sync will be a separate download.

“On June 28th, 2017, we will launch Backup and Sync from Google, a tool intended to help everyday users back up files and photos from their computers, so they’re safe and accessible from anywhere. Backup and Sync is the latest version of Google Drive for Mac/PC, which is now integrated with the Google Photos desktop uploader. As such, it will respect any current Drive for Mac/PC settings in the Admin console.”

Google notes that Backup and Sync is intended for consumer users, and that those who are more enterprise focused should continue to use Drive until Drive File Stream is released.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump visited House Majority Whip Steve Scalise in the hospital Wednesday night following a shooting near the nation’s capital that left six people injured.

The first couple reportedly met with Scalise’s doctors at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where he underwent surgery, and they “spoke with his family and sat by his bedside,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters. The Trumps also met with Capitol Police Officer Crystal Griner, who was injured, and her wife.

The president tweeted about the visit shortly before 10 p.m. EDT, saying the Louisiana congressman was in “very tough shape.”

Scalise was shot in the hip by a lone gunman who opened fire on Republican lawmakers who were practicing for a congressional baseball game early Wednesday morning.

The hospital treating him said a bullet “travelled across his pelvis, fracturing bones, injuring internal organs and causing severe bleeding.” He was listed in critical condition late Wednesday and will need further operations.

CNN reported that the mood in the hospital was “somber” during the Trumps’ 20-minute visit. The first couple brought flowers.

Spicer told reporters the president would not attend the baseball game Scalise and others had been preparing for, citing “not enough time to follow Secret Service protocols” to protect the president.
