DIY Working Mini Apple II Computer
Posted in: Today's ChiliDo you love the classic Apple II computer? Video game engineer Chris Larkin recently met up with the folks at Tested to show how he built a working miniature Apple II replica. This mini version of the classic computer emulates the full size one, but you can hold this one in the palm of your hand.
The tiny computer is based on a $9 CHIP card, and has a teensy LCD TFT screen, sound support, and is powered by a drone battery. It’s controlled wirelessly via a full-size Bluetooth keyboard, though it currently doesn’t have joystick support, so playing some games is a bit of a challenge. If you want to try making your own, Chris shared the files and instructions here on GitHub.
It’s probably been a long time since you used an Apple II, but I bet you have never used one as small as this. Even if you don’t play it, it’s a pretty adorable little replica that you will want to put on your desk.

'Bachelor In Paradise' Star Corinne Olympios Hires Top Lawyer Following Scandal
Posted in: Today's ChiliAfter days of speculation on the “Bachelor in Paradise” scandal, Corinne Olympios, a contestant who allegedly took part in a sexual incident during taping in Mexico last week, is speaking out.
ABC halted production of the show on Sunday over “allegations of misconduct” apparently involving Olympios and fellow cast member DeMario Jackson. Olympios has now hired top Hollywood attorney Marty Singer to represent her throughout Warner Bros.’ investigation into the situation.
In a statement released by her rep, Stan Rosenfield, Olympios characterized the incident as a nightmare becoming reality:
I am a victim and have spent the last week trying to make sense of what happened the June 4. Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took place, which I understand is why production on the show has now been suspended and a producer on the show has filed a complaint against the production.
As a woman, this is my worst nightmare and it has now become my reality. As I pursue the details and facts surrounding that night and the immediate days after, I have retained a group of professionals to ensure that what happened on June 4 comes to light and I can continue my life, including hiring an attorney to obtain justice and seeking therapy to begin dealing with the physical and emotional trauma stemming from that evening.
According to multiple reports, a highly intoxicated Olympios had a sexual encounter with Jackson in a swimming pool while crew members continued filming. Following that, a field producer reportedly filed a formal complaint and Warner Bros. suspended production of the show, sending the rest of the cast back to the U.S.
“Once the investigation is complete,” Warner Bros. said in a statement earlier this week, “we will take appropriate responsive action.”
Jackson, who reportedly claims that the sexual acts were consensual, also spoke out, telling Entertainment Tonight, “I have nothing to say. You know, Corinne’s an awesome girl and that’s all I have to say.” He added of his fans, “Love you all, thank you for the support.”
“Bachelor in Paradise” Season 4, which was set to debut Aug. 8, brings together former contestants from “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” for another shot at love.
At this point, it’s safe to say the show probably won’t go on.

All the awards. Literally, let them all reign down upon Selena Gomez’s new music video for “Bad Liar,” in which she plays not one, but four separate characters. And in which she manages to shine through a mustache and Justin Bieber’s pervy uncle glasses.
A new era of Gomez has dawned, and she’s blessed us with an accompanying music video that signals her artistic and aesthetic growth. After releasing a promo video for the new single, the official “Bad Liar” film is giving us all the sun-kissed ‘70s goodness ― peep the Pee-Chee sports folder ― we could ever need.
Gomez plays a high school student caught in the middle of her father’s affair with her blonde gym teacher, while her mother becomes increasingly suspicious. The former Disney star seems to especially enjoy playing the titualr bad liar in this scenario, aka Daddy Gomez. Crotch grabs and fun are had by all.
In the end, however, it’s revealed that she also has the hots for teacher ― twist ― hinting at her presumed next single, “Fetish,” which appears at the end of the video.
Shantay you stay, Selena.

Here's What We Know About The Shooting At A Congressional Baseball Practice

WASHINGTON ― A Republican congresswoman from New York said she received an email threat just hours after Wednesday morning’s shooting at a baseball field that wounded GOP Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and four others.
Rep. Claudia Tenney forwarded to several news outlets the email that began with the subject line: “One down, 216 to go…”
It read: “Do you NOT expect this? When you take away ordinary peoples very lives in order to pay off the wealthiest among us, your own lives are forfeit. Certainly, your souls and morality were lost long before. Good riddance.”
When all of the House’s 435 seats are filled, whichever party holds at least 217 controls the chamber. The Republican House caucus currently numbers 239.
Syracuse.com reported that the email came from a constituent in Tenney’s central New York district, near Syracuse. Tenney, 56, was elected to the House last November after serving in the New York State Assemby.
Tenney’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Authorities are still unsure whether the assailant in Wednesday’s shooting intended to target Scalise, 51, who was one of several GOP lawmakers practicing at a field in Alexandria, Virginia, for Thursday’s annual congressional baseball game.
The suspected gunman, James Hodgkinson, 66, of Illinois was shot and killed by Capitol police officers who were part of Scalise’s security detail. The GOP leader was reported in critical condition after undergoing surgery. Also hit by the gunfire were a congressional staff member, a lobbyist and two Capitol police officers.
“We should be having robust debate, but this is beyond another realm,” she told Syracuse.com.
Tenney added that she has faced security concerns in her district.
“I always feel safe here at the Capitol,” she said. “But when I’m back home in the district, not always. People always recognize me. There is a lot of angst, and unfortunately the dialogue and the protesters and the Resist movement has gotten very aggressive.”
Tenney was elected in a race that Democrats had targeted as a potential pickup.
In recent weeks, Tenney faced protests from some constituents over her support of the House GOP bill repealing the Affordable Care Act. Constituents also criticized her for not holding in-person town halls.

The Secret To The Best Barbecue
Posted in: Today's ChiliAt Killen’s BBQ in Pearland, TX, owner Ronnie Killen marries the culinary traditions of the South with his chef sensibilities. Building off his culinary school training, Killen puts science behind every single one of his barbecue methods, from the precise smoking time that gives brisket its maximum moisture and pepperiness, to the optimum fat and spice ratio in the German-style sausage.
Your best bet at Killen’s is the meat plate, which offers a chance to try multiple different preparations and sides — and it’s worth noting that sides are worth getting, especially the creamed corn. Pitmaster Manny Torres will also tell you to save room for the bread pudding, promising it will “take you to heaven.”
Many places we’ve stopped at so far during #ZagatBBQNation will keep certain elements out of view or not share an ingredient of their “secret sauce” with us. Torres scoffs at those ideas. Killen’s purposely keeps their smokers exposed in the back so customers walking in from the parking lot can see the action going down and he’s happy to invite them in if they’re curious. He’ll show off the wood smokers and the meat inside, and tell customers exactly what went into the rub and how long it’s been cooking.
When it comes to their barbecue, he says there’s nothing to hide: Just get the best meat and treat it with the best care.
Like most great barbecue places, the waits at Killen’s can get pretty long, stretching up to an hour on busy days. The good news is that on weekends, Killen’s gives out free beer to those waiting. The original location is just outside of Houston, but there are plans to open up a new location in the center of the city that’ll serve as both a barbecue spot and a steakhouse.
