Pastor Who Linked Obama To Antichrist Says To Stop Demonizing Politicians

An evangelical leader who once said that Obama paved the way for the Antichrist now says it’s time to stop the “demonization of public officials.”

However, he doesn’t believe those previous comments against Obama constitute “demonization.”

Dallas-based pastor Robert Jeffress made the request via Twitter after hearing about the gunman who opened fire on several Republican lawmakers Wednesday morning in Alexandria, Virginia.

Jeffress, who preached a sermon for Trump before his inauguration, elaborated on the statement in a blog post:

The incident also highlights the fact that the unrelenting demonization of our legitimately elected political leaders could lead to tragedy, and I refer particularly to the mainstream media, our universities, and to Hollywood. Now is the time to tone it all down, embrace real tolerance, report objectively and stop provoking our nation to conflict.

Jeffress’ suggestion to not demonize elected officials sounds well and good, but it could be argued that he did just that in his 2014 book, “Perfect Ending,” in which he made a connection between the Antichrist and Obama’s support of LGBT rights:

For the first time in history a president of our country has openly proposed altering one of society’s (not to mention God’s) most fundamental laws: that marriage should be between a man and a woman. While I am not suggesting that President Obama is the Antichrist, the fact that he was able to propose such a sweeping change in God’s law and still win reelection by a comfortable margin illustrates how a future world leader will be able to oppose God’s laws without any repercussions.

Jeffress also linked Obama to the Antichrist in a 2012 sermon, but he insisted he wasn’t claiming that Obama is the Antichrist or not a Christian

“But what I am saying is this: the course he is choosing to lead our nation is paving the way for the future reign of the Antichrist,” he said.

Although saying a president is setting up the world for the Antichrist might seem like an obvious attempt at demonization, Jeffress doesn’t agree.

“I was clear that Obama was not the Antichrist, and that I continue to pray for him,” he told HuffPost. “There was no call for violence or a belief that he was an illegitimate candidate. I believe God put him in office.”

Jeffress also said he isn’t asking people to stop criticizing politicians they disagree with.

“I believe in the First Amendment,” he said. “But we shouldn’t associate it with violence.”

‘Echo Arena’ is competitive, virtual reality frisbee in zero gravity

When we saw Lone Echo at Oculus Connect 3 late last year, it solved one of virtual reality’s biggest limitations by ignoring humanity’s most common form of locomotion: walking. The game takes place entirely in zero gravity, asking players to navigate…

Box’s desktop app is fine for you, but better for businesses

When you think of cloud storage services, your mind probably drifts over Dropbox or Google Drive. You might not remember Box as well — it was one of the earliest cloud providers out there and it’s thriving today. Now, it’s catching up with some of i…

'Duck Season' is equal parts nostalgic and creepy

When I was a kid with the original Nintendo Entertainment System, I of course played Duck Hunt. Fast forward 25 years and I did so in virtual reality, live on stage at E3 in front of the entire internet with Duck Season — a tribute to the classic NE…

'Pro Evolution Soccer 2018' continues to be a pleasure to play

Every year, there’s the ongoing debate about which football game is the best: EA’s FIFA or Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer. And the truth is they’re both great in their own right — FIFA traditionally has the better graphics, PES the better gameplay –…

This Millennium Falcon Violin Does the William Tell Overture in 12 Parsecs

You gave a concert in that? You’re braver than I thought. This Millennium Falcon Violin sadly, has no strings, so you can’t play it, but you can hang it on your wall and admire it.

Artist Richard Symons created this cool sculpture around a real violin. The engines light up with blue LEDs, which makes up for it’s lack of strings. So this is basically what the Falcon would look like if something went horribly wrong and it got all stretched out in hyperspace.

If it did work, you would still need a Wookiee co-pilot holding down the strings to help you play it. It will cost you $700 to hang this on your wall.

LG V30 Launch Expected Ahead Of Schedule

A lot has already been rumored about the LG V30. It’s going to be the company’s second flagship smartphone for 2017 and many expect it to perform better in the market than the LG G6 did. While LG hasn’t said anything about this device so far, if a new report is to be believed, the company is going to launch this smartphone ahead of schedule.

LG launched the V20 in September last year so it could be reasonably expected that the company was going to stick with that launch timeline for the successor as well. However, that’s not what the latest report will have you believe. It suggests that the LG V30 will be out a full month earlier.

The report claims that LG is going to launch the V30 in April this year. The reason for that hasn’t been detailed in the report but it could presumably be to preempt the Galaxy Note 8 which is also due to be launched around the same time.

It’s even claimed that LG is going to bring forward the launch of the LG G7 next year from February to January 2018. The company usually launches new G flagships at the Mobile World Congress but it may decide to launch the next-generation G flagship in January.

None of this has been officially confirmed by LG as yet so nothing is set in stone so far.

2018 iPhone Wireless Charging Confirmed By Apple Supplier

We have long heard rumors that Apple is going to integrate wireless charging functionality into the iPhone. The company hasn’t done that yet but the rumor mill is holding out on hope for wireless charging on the 2018 iPhone. Wireless charging became common on most high-end Android flagships a couple of years ago so it’s not like Apple would be breaking new ground. If an Apple supplier is to be believed, the 2018 iPhone is going to come with wireless charging.

Wistron is an India-based manufacturer that Apple recently added to its supply chain in order to gain more market share in one of the most lucrative smartphone markets on the planet as well as get cost benefits in India. Wistron currently manufactures the iPhone SE for Apple.

Earlier today while speaking to reporters, Winstron’s CEO Robert Hwang revealed that the upcoming iPhones will come with new features like “waterproof and wireless charging.”

His comments were part of an explanation about the increasingly complex methods of manufacturing next-generation devices compared to iPhones of years gone by.

Whether this is a mistake on Hwang’s part or he has slipped up and confirmed one of the most highly anticipated features for the iPhone, it goes without saying that Apple fans will be very anxiously to find out whether or not wireless charging has made it to the 2018 iPhone. I’m pretty sure many will have their fingers crossed that it does.

Apple is not expected to launch its new iPhones before the fall this year.

Backup And Sync By Google Makes Drive For PC/Mac Much Better

There’s already a desktop tool available for Google Drive on PC and Mac. However, it’s limited in the functionality that it offers in that it only monitors one folder and backs up files whenever that folder is updated. Google is now making this tool much better by introducing what it calls Backup and Sync. This feature will enable Drive to function as a much more effective backup and sync tool for desktop computers.

Backup and Sync is the latest version of Google Drive for Mac and PC which happens to be integrated with the Google Photos desktop uploader.

It will enable users to back up files and photos from their computers so that they can be accessible from anywhere. The updated tool will adhere to any current Drive for Mac/PC setting that users have selected but it can be changed at will.

Google is going to introduce the Backup and Sync feature by releasing a new app of the same name. The app is going to be released later this month, on June 28th to be precise. The app will be replacing the standard Google Drive and the Google Photos Backup app.

Google recommends that consumers should download this app once it becomes available while it cautions that business users should continue using the current Drive app until it comes out with a separate solution for them.
