Sponsored Posts On Instagram Will Now Have A Dedicated Label

There is an entire industry of “influencers” on Instagram who have built a significant following for themselves on the social network and they hawk products that range from diet teas to teeth whiteners. However, many don’t properly label their posts as advertisements even though it’s evident that they are being paid to push a product. The Facebook-owned service is now testing a dedicated label to better highlight sponsored posts on Instagram.

The Federal Trade Commission isn’t happy about influencer marketing where paid endorsements are not properly highlighted. It recently sent letters to more than 90 top influencers to remind them that they have to “clearly and conspicuously” when the products featured in their posts are sponsored.

Instagram’s Creative Programs Director Charles Porch said that most influencers just want a clear and standardized way to make these disclosures. So the service is testing a new tag for influencers that will clearly make this disclosure for them.

When this tag is applied to a post, it’s going to contain a “Paid partnership with” notification at the very top. Instagram is only testing this tag out with a handful of users and says that “there will be enforcement” once people are educated about this.

Does this mean we can expect Instagram to mandate that users add this tag whenever they post a sponsored photo or video? Seems like it.

Razer Blade Stealth Laptop Now Available With 13.3 Inch Display

Razer’s Blade Stealth laptop has been very well received but some have wished for the 12.5 inch display to be slightly bigger. It’s not exactly uncommon for small laptops to have larger displays. Razer seems to have taken the feedback from its customers to heart as it has now launched a new model of the Blade Stealth that comes with a 13.3 inch 3,200×1,800 pixel resolution touchscreen display in a similarly-sized body.

The new Blade Stealth model from Razer holds on to that same half-inch thickness of its predecessor and the claimed nine hours of battery life. It does weigh slightly more at 2.93 pounds as opposed to 2.84.

Customers in the United States will be able to purchase the notebook in a new gunmetal gray color that doesn’t have the bright green Razer logo. It swaps that out for a subtler logo so that this notebook won’t feel too out of place in a business meeting as well.

The 13.3 inch Razer Blade Stealth notebook is available with a 2.7 GHz Core i7 processor from Intel coupled with 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. It’s available for purchase starting today from Razer’s online store for $1,399.

This doesn’t mean that Razer is doing away with the $999 12.5 inch model of the Blade Sleath. That will continue to be sold alongside this new model that has been launched today.

Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) issued a statement on a shooting that targeted Congressional Republicans in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday.

GOP Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) was among those shot when a gunman opened fire on a group of people practicing for a congressional baseball game. Alexandria Police said the shooter is in custody and that victims were being transported to nearby hospitals.

Giffords was shot in the head while meeting with constituents outside a supermarket in Tucson, Arizona, in 2011. Six people died in that shooting, including Gabe Zimmerman, who served as Giffords’s community outreach director.

She and her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, have spent the years following her shooting advocating for stricter gun control laws. The couple founded Americans for Responsible Solutions, a group that works to raise awareness of gun violence.

Earlier this month, Giffords called out President Donald Trump for his response to a terror attack in London during which knives and a vehicle were used to hurt people.
