A Pokemon RPG Is In Development For The Nintendo Switch

We know that there are many, many gamers who are looking forward to the time when Nintendo announces Pokemon for the Switch. So far we’ve come pretty close with Pokken Tournament DX, but it seems that Nintendo was waiting for the Nintendo Direct event to reveal what gamers have been asking for because the company has announced that a new core Pokemon RPG is in the works for the Switch.

Details about this Pokemon RPG are scarce at the moment, but this seems to be in line with the earlier rumors that there would be a core Pokemon game that is being developed for the Switch. According to the announcement, this will be a “core Pokemon RPG”, so if you enjoyed the Pokemon titles on handheld consoles like the 3DS, this is pretty great news!

As IGN points out, GameFreak’s co-founder Junichi Masuda had stated back in 2011 that the core Pokemon series would always be released for handheld hardware, but he did leave it open to bring it onto future devices that were more portable, and the Switch seems like a pretty great example of that.

Unfortunately for gamers who are excited by this news and wouldn’t mind getting their hands on the title, it has been revealed that the game is still in the works and is more than a year away from being released, which means that gamers will have to remain very, very patient until then.

Bethesda Reiterates That The Elder Scrolls 6 Still Isn’t In Development

The last time we saw a major The Elder Scrolls title released was in the form of Skyrim. As you might have heard, it seems that Bethesda will be taking a break from the Elder Scrolls franchise for a while because last we heard, the next title is still years and years away, according to the company themselves.

That being said, we’re not sure why but some fans are still inclined to believe that this isn’t the case, but that’s something that Bethesda’s VP of marketing Pete Hines wants to remind everyone. In the video above which features Hines in an interview, the Bethesda exec was quick to remind gamers that the Elder Scrolls 6 is still not yet in development.

Hines stated that the studio still has at least two major titles that they are working on before they even get around to the Elder Scrolls 6, which pretty much is in line with the company’s earlier statement about the game being years and years away. Hines was also quick to point out that there is no work being done on the game while other titles are being worked on, so it’s not as if Bethesda is quietly developing the game at the same time.

In any case it will definitely be a long time before we even heard about the game, but the question is will the interest in it still be as strong for when the time actually comes?

Super Mario Odyssey Coming To The Switch This October

We have to admit that when the Nintendo Switch was launched, we were surprised that Mario was not among the launch titles. Instead the biggest name that was launched with the console was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which on hindsight was a pretty great choice as it did score fantastic reviews.

However Nintendo wasted no time in unveiling a Mario game in the form of Super Mario Odyssey earlier this year. No release date was mentioned at the time of the reveal, until now where during the Nintendo Direct presentation, the company finally revealed that the game will be released on the 27th of October, 2017.

Together with the announcement of the release date, Nintendo also released a new trailer for the game that shows off more of what we can expect. Super Mario Odyssey is definitely not your typical Super Mario game, and seems to combine more “real world” elements compared to before, although for the most part it is still Mario.

It also appears that there will be new mechanics, like how Mario can use hit hat to attack enemies, or how he can throw his hat onto objects or characters to “possess” them. So far initial impressions have been great, so mark down the 27th of October on your calendars if this sounds like a game you wouldn’t mind getting.

8bitdo Announces Retro-Themed Controllers For The Nintendo Switch

In case the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons or the Pro controller aren’t really doing it for you, you’re in luck because accessory maker 8BitDo has announced a bunch of new gaming controller peripherals that are pretty obviously aimed at the Nintendo Switch, which you can see in the photo above.

Note that these controllers are basically wireless controllers which means that you could use them with other devices, but note that they do have Switch compatibility. Also the fact that they have been designed to look like the SNES/Super Famicom means that these are clearly catered for Nintendo fans. Both the SNES30 Pro and SFC30 Pro are similar in functionality, so it really boils down to personal preference in terms of design.

However the main difference is that the SNES30 Pro will feature motion controls and rumbles. In addition to these controllers, 8BitDo also announced the NES30 Arcade Stick which is aimed more towards users who play more arcade style games or fighting games, like Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, or the upcoming Super Smash Bros. This also makes it the first arcade fight stick for the Nintendo Switch and it is expected to see a release in Q3 2017.

Unfortunately pricing for either controllers has yet to be determined.

Nintendo Announces ‘Metroid Prime 4’ For The Switch

With video game franchises, Metroid is one of the classics out there today and over the years without fail we’ve seen how Nintendo has tried to keep the franchise alive by including Samus in games like Super Smash Bros. Now it looks like fans of Metroid have something to look forward to in Metroid Prime 4.

Yup it looks like during the Nintendo Direct presentation at E3 2017, the company officially announced a new Metroid game that would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately details are next to nothing because during the teaser of the game, all we got was a logo. In fact we don’t even know the studio behind the development, although the report by Kotaku notes that it is being led by Metroid Prime series director Kensuke Tanabe with a “talented new development team.”

This seems to suggest that Retro Studios will not be the developer behind the upcoming game. As for a release date, unfortunately that’s still pretty much a mystery as well as there was no mention of that. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long, but the fact that we don’t even have a rough timeframe means that fans can probably forget about seeing it this year. In any case it is pretty exciting news and we’ll be keeping an eye out for more details when available.

This Is How The Rest Of The World Drinks Iced Coffee

Cold brew coffee seems to be the caffeinated iced beverage of choice these days in the U.S. Starbucks has put it on its menu, and Dunkin’ Donuts has, too. And even though cold brew contains less caffeine than regular coffee, folks stateside are still reaching for it.

But that’s not true around the world. In fact, the rest of the world is drinking their iced coffee in all sorts of delicious ways. Some countries even use instant coffee to make theirs ― ahem, Greece ― and it’s better than you can imagine.
