Parking Cop Reacts To Conscientious Driver's Plea In Best Possible Way

A parking cop in Wisconsin is winning praise for not following the letter of the law.

Parking control officer Jim Hellrood discovered a car parked by an expired meter in downtown Wausau on Thursday morning.

But instead of writing up a ticket, he took pity on the vehicle’s owner and just issued a warning after finding this handwritten note underneath the car’s windshield wiper:

Please take pity on me. I walked home… safe choices,” the note reads.

CBS News reports that Hellrood interpreted the note to mean the person possibly drunk alcohol and thought walking home was the safer option.

“Pity granted, just a warning,” read the citation that Hellrood printed off.

Wausau Police Department shared a photograph of the note and the warning ticket to Facebook on Monday. The post is now going viral, and earning both Hellrood and the unidentified driver plenty of kudos from people online:

Atari Teases Upcoming ‘Atari Box’ Device

Last year we heard reports that gaming company Atari was making hardware once again. Earlier this year it sounded like the company was close to announcing something, and now it looks like Atari is teasing something yet again which based on the name of its website, will be known as the Atari Box.

At this point it is really anyone’s guess as to what the Atari Box could be. However given that Atari is a gaming company that used to make hardware (and is starting to do so again), we can only imagine that it will be related to gaming. We’re doubtful that it will be a console since trying to compete against Sony and Microsoft and Nintendo at this point in time does seem rather tough.

It is possible that maybe Atari could be launching some kind of retro gaming console like Nintendo did with the NES Classic Mini. With the success of the console, perhaps Atari is thinking that maybe they could cash in on nostalgia which seems to be making money these days, what with all the remasters and what not.

In any case we guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Atari has up their sleeves, but those who are interested can head on over to their website and sign up to be notified whenever the Atari Box is launched.

Users Can Now Block Calls And Messages On The Amazon Echo

The ability to block calls and messages from contacts you don’t want to hear from seems like a pretty basic feature that most communication devices and services offer. However oddly enough such a feature was missing from the Amazon Echo, at least until recently where in a report from The Verge, an update to the Alexa app on iOS has brought the feature to the table.

For those unfamiliar, last month Amazon introduced the ability to call and message using Alexa and was designed for use with devices like the Echo speakers. However it seems that the company neglected to include call and message blocking features, meaning that as long as the other person had your number and the Alexa app, they would be able to call you and text you via Alexa-enabled devices and you couldn’t do anything about it.

However like we said, Amazon recently introduced the feature to its iOS app via an update, so just update Alexa for for iOS device and you should be good to go. As The Verge points out, it seems that this feature hasn’t made it onto the Android version of Alexa yet, but presumably it should find its way soon enough, so Android users will want to keep an eye out for it.
