It’s been over a year since we heard that Google’s parent company Alphabet wanted to sell its robotics company Boston Dynamics, and now it has a buyer: Softbank. The Japanese company has been working on its own robots for years, including the helpful…
Even if you don’t play collectible card games, you have probably heard of Magic: The Gathering which is one of the biggest CCGs around at the moment. Now the game might have started off in physical format, but over the years there have been various digital adaptations, but for the most part they have pretty much retained the core gameplay of battling it out using cards.
However that is all set to change. In an announcement by Wizards of the Coast, it seems that they have tapped two developers in the form of Cryptic Studios and Perfect World and will be making an MMO out of the Magic: The Gathering franchise, promising a triple-A game in the process. Details are a bit scarce right now, but the game is expected to be launched on multiple consoles and the PC.
In a press release sent to GamesBeat, Bryan Huang, the chief executive officer of Perfect World Entertainment said, “It’s Magic: The Gathering like you’ve never experienced before. We are ecstatic about the direction of the game Cryptic has been shaping. It’s always been a dream of ours to bring Magic’s Planeswalkers to a modern RPG.”
Given how many players around the world are still playing the game, both physical and digital, it will be interesting to see how the reception to this game will be like. In a way it is rather ironic as we have seen RPGs spin-off into card games, such as Blizzard’s Hearthstone and The Witcher’s Gwent, so to see a card game try to turn itself into an MMO is an interesting turn of events.

Microsoft’s Project Scorpio will be the company’s latest iteration of the Xbox. From what we have been hearing, it is going to be a powerful console, more so than the PS4 Pro. So with all that new fangled hardware under the hood, does that mean that we can expect to see an expensive price tag?
According to analyst Michael Pachter, it seems that we can expect to see Microsoft return to the original Xbox One price of $399. He believes that Microsoft will not be pricing themselves out of the game, and that a price tag of $399 will still make the console relevant in the current console cycle. Given that there were quite a few gamers who adopted the Xbox One even when it was priced at $499, we imagine that there will be willing customers.
If you recall, Microsoft originally launched the Xbox One at $499 when the PS4 was priced at $399. This allowed the PS4 to gain market share on the Xbox One at the start, which Microsoft later managed to regain some of it when they reduce it down to $399. This means that at a price of $399, Project Scorpio wouldn’t really be seen as too prohibitively expensive.
Pachter also believes that when Microsoft does unveil the pricing, which will be at E3 2017, Sony could respond in kind by lowering the price of the PS4 Pro to either $299 or even lower at $249, but that remains to be seen, so check back with us at E3 2017 next week for the details.

Unlike hotels when it comes to checking into an Airbnb location, different hosts have different rules. For example there are some hosts who are completely hands off and will just give you instructions and notes on how to get to the location, where to get your key, and so on, while there are some who might meet you at a train station or the location and guide you in.
In a bid to help make the check-in process more efficient, Airbnb has decided to lend a helping hand with an in-app guide. “Now, guests of hosts who opt in to the new tool will receive clear, visual, in-app step-by-step guides on what to look for and expect when they arrive — like what door to enter through, where the lockbox is located, and what the code is. Guests can access this information right in the Airbnb app whenever they need it, even if without internet access.”
Prior to this, hosts who were more hands off would use photos to illustrate their point, and while this new feature of Airbnb still relies on photos as a guide on where to find things like the keys, it is expected to be a clearer version that before, and given that it is built into the app itself, users can still access it even without internet, which might not always be quite as accessible when you travel.
Of course this is pretty much contingent on hosts providing such detailed instructions to begin with, but we reckon that for hosts who want to achieve a high rating or maintain their ratings, this is something they’ll probably be doing anyway.

Despite the design of Apple’s AirPods being somewhat questionable, it’s hard to deny the many positive reviews that users have had with the headphones and its features, such as how quickly it pairs with iOS devices and how “smart” it is by being able to pause music when you take them out of your ears.
In fact that headphones will be getting more features thanks to iOS 11. It seems that with the update to iOS 11, users will be able to control more of their media playback with the headphones, such as double tapping on the headphones to change tracks. Prior to this, users will have to double tap the headphones to activate Siri and then ask Siri to change tracks if they wanted a completely hands free experience.
Clearly this is far from ideal as sometimes using Siri isn’t always possible, or how sometimes Siri isn’t necessarily the best at recognizing your voice or various accents. However as you can see in the video above by Appsolutely Tech, iOS 11 will now let users change that by using double tap as a means to change tracks without using Siri.
Note that given that this is an iOS update, it means that if you want to use AirPods with a non-iOS device, then there will be certain features you’ll be missing out on, such as this.

Back in May you might recall that Amazon launched a couple of new tablets that they will be adding to their Fire lineup. This includes the new Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 tablets and if you liked what you saw and wouldn’t mind getting your hands on them, you’ll be pleased to learn that they are now shipping.
For those who are interested, the Fire 7 is priced at $49.99 while the Fire HD 8 will be going for $79.99. We should point out that neither of these tablets are the most high-end tablets available in the market today, but if you wanted a tablet for a very affordable price that lets you surf the web, watch videos, and so on, this could be it.
In case you missed the announcement in May, the new Fire 7 tablet will feature a 7-inch display with a battery life of up to 8 hours, 8GB or 16GB storage options that can be expanded up to 256GB. As for the Fire HD 8, this will sport an 8-inch 1200×800 display with up to 12 hours of battery life, and 16/32GB storage options that can also be expanded to 256GB if you choose.
Both tablets will ship with Fire OS 5 and will also come with Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant AI software. They are also available in a variety of bright colors.

Sorry, But We’re Stuck With Trump
Posted in: Today's ChiliIs there anything more gauche than quoting yourself? Well, maybe starting an article with a rhetorical question is worse, but…
In any case, here is an excerpt from something I wrote last summer: “If there is one thing that the candidacy of Donald Trump has taught us, it is to never count him — or his followers — out.”
Until just about everyone else in America says, ‘Enough of this sh*t,’ Trump’s supporters are numerous enough to keep his wobbly, haphazard administration upright.
I was writing about the latest polls at that time, which showed that Donald Trump had as much chance of winning the election as Noam Chomsky did of landing a triple salchow to clinch the gold.
I mean, it was absurd to think Trump might capture the Electoral College — just ludicrous. Ha ha ha ha.
Ha ha.
Ha…
Yes, we’re all still laughing five months into this monstrosity of a presidency. Our laughter is not joyous, of course, nor is it resigned or world-weary. It’s more like the collective lunatic howling of the damned, which I guess still counts as laughter nonetheless.
Regardless, my point in that article was to be skeptical of all the experts who assured us that Trump would flame out in spectacular fashion and that America would never hand over the car keys to a man who isn’t even qualified to be the assistant undersecretary in the Federal Bureau of Weights and Measures, much less the f*cking chief executive of the nation.
No, we were all a little too relaxed about the possibility of a Trump presidency. And I’ve written before about the liberal tendency to insist that this time — really, really, really this time — it’s all over for Trump.
As you recall, he wasn’t going to win the nomination, he wasn’t going to win the election, rogue electors were going to deny him the presidency, he would get impeached on his first day, he would resign in disgust immediately, and so on and so on. He would this, that, and the other thing.
All of this would prevent us from living in a world where the president of the United States repeatedly insults an ally just hours after that ally has suffered a terrorist attack, or makes America the undisputed bad guy in the history of climate change, or just in general resembles an evil, sputtering old man planning to slip razor blades into apples next Halloween.
And just today, we have confirmation of what we all knew, which is that this president is even more corrupt than Nixon and thinks “obstruction of justice” is some kind of fancy French dessert.
Well, here’s the truth: None of this really matters, because Trump’s base doesn’t care about any of this.
Hell, white supremacists and conspiracy nuts and right-wing hatemongers are all for the man, more than ever. And until just about everyone else in America says, “Enough of this sh*t,” his supporters are numerous enough to keep Trump’s wobbly, haphazard administration upright. The alt-right and the bigoted will not be dissuaded. They are a multitude of furious fire ants keeping the anthill from toppling over, even after repeated sprayings from the flummoxed homeowner.
And so, none of these scandals are nearly enough to end our nightmare.
Of course, the impeachment-o-meter is hovering around 40 percent, so what do I know?
