Tesla Model Y Teaser Released

Tesla is gearing up to release the Model 3 soon. The company has confirmed that it’s on track to deliver the first production Model 3 car next month. The company’s next all-electric vehicle is going to be the Model Y. Tesla has talked about it before but at its recent shareholders’ meeting, the company released a shadowy teaser image of the Model Y.

We’ll have to wait for a very long time, though, before Tesla officially unveils the Model Y. It’s likely going to take a few years before the company is ready to show off this vehicle.

Over the coming years, Tesla will really be focused on selling the Model 3 and making sure that the production bottlenecks are cleared so that it can meet the production targets that it has set for its first mass-market electric car.

The shadowy teaser image merely offers a glimpse of what’s going to be Tesla’s next all-electric vehicle. Granted, it doesn’t show much, but we do know that it’s going to be a crossover SUV.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously confirmed that the Model Y won’t be based on the Model 3’s platform because the company wants to reduce the amount of wiring it uses in its cars.

Tesla will be unveiling another electric vehicle later this year, its first all-electric semi truck, and there’s already quite a bit of excitement about it. Tesla is yet to confirm when it’s going to make the announcement.

Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 Release Date Confirmed

If you liked the first season of Minecraft: Story Mode, you’re going to love what Mojang has announced today. The Minecraft developer has confirmed that it’s going to release Minecraft: Story Mode season 2 in the near future. A new five-part Story Mode saga is going to be released by Mojang next month. It follows the first season which had eight episodes that were spread out over 2015 and 2016.

In Minecraft: Story Mode, players assumed the role of Jesse and set out on a quest with their allies. The character of Jesse was customizable so players could decide whether they wanted it to be male or female.

Patton Oswalt and Catherine Taber provided the voice for the male and female version of Jesse and they’re returning to voice the character for the second season.

The choices that players made in the first season of the game would have affected the outcome. That outcome is going to have an impact on the second season as well, though it’s going to be welcoming to new Minecraft: Story Mode players as well.

Jesse’s hand will get trapped in a cursed prismarine gauntlet in season two after a simple treasure hunt goes wrong. Jesse then sets out on a quest to the darkest depths of the world and beyond with his allies. Players will have plenty of tough choices to make as they navigate their way through the game.

The first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode season 2 titled Hero in Residence is going to be released for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices on July 11th.

Steam Greenlight Has Been Closed By Valve

how to family share on steam
Valve has decided to close Steam Greenlight. It was a service that enabled Steam users to vote on indie games in order to select the titles that would eventually be published on Steam. Valve hasn’t taken this step without having a replacing in place, though. Steam Greenlight has been shut down in favor of Stream Direct which is going to be launched in a week, on June 13th to be precise.

Developers can no longer make submissions for Stream Greenlight starting today or accept votes from Steam users. As it stands, there are over 3,400 games still pending in Greenlight. Valve is now going to review those titles itself so it’s asking users to be patient while it decides which titles will get published.

Valve will be making the final decision now with regards to the fate of the pending titles. Developers will be able to receive a refund of their $100 Greenlight fee if they have paid it already if Valve declines their game or if they’ve not yet submitted their game.

Steam Direct will make it simpler for indie developers who want to get their games on Steam. Developers will just have to fill out forms and pay a $100 per game free to get their game published. Valve will refund them the fee if their game brings in over $1,000 in sales.

All submissions will be reviewed by a team at Valve which will install each game to ensure that no malware seeps through the cracks. Once everything checks out, the game will be listed on Steam.

OnePlus 5 RAM Said To Be 8GB

There have already been countless rumors about the OnePlus 5 and we’re bound to hear more until the company officially unveils its new flagship smartphone. Much has been said and written about the expected specifications of this device and if a new report is to be believed, the OnePlus 5 may be shipped with as much as 8GB of RAM, which seems to be a bonkers proposition for a smartphone.

OnePlus confirmed yesterday that it’s going to officially unveiling the OnePlus 5 on June 20th. Local events in China and India, two of the company’s biggest markets, will follow on June 21st and June 22nd.

Amazon India is going to be the exclusive online retail partner for the OnePlus 5 in the country. It has been revealed via Amazon India that the OnePlus 5 is going to go on sale in India on the very same day that it’s announced, June 22nd.

Digging through the OnePlus 5 landing page on Amazon India’s website reveals some interesting information about the handset’s specs. It will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor that has already been confirmed by the company coupled with 8GB of RAM.

If other reports are believed, OnePlus is also going to offer a slightly cheaper variant of the OnePlus 5 which is only going to include 4GB of RAM.

Even though it has revealed some information about the handset, OnePlus is yet to confirm these details, which it will undoubtedly do only on June 20th.

The idea of a feathery T-rex came from the discovery that some theropods had feathers, leading some to speculate that the massive … Continue reading

Janelle Monae: 'None Of Us Are Free Until All Of Us Are Free'

At the CFDA Awards on Monday, Janelle Monae had a powerful political message to share with the star-studded audience of fashion influencers.

The “Hidden Figures” star appeared onstage at the Hammerstein Ballroom alongside activist Gloria Steinem and Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards to accept the Board Of Directors’ Tribute award, Time reported. The women were being honored for their work during the Women’s March in February.

In her acceptance speech, Monae encouraged her fellow creatives in the fashion and entertainment industries to use their platforms to create change.

”As human beings, it is going to be our responsibility to take care of one another,” Monae said.

“Women’s rights are human rights. LGBTQ rights are human rights,” she continued. “So as human beings let’s never forget that none of us are free until all of us are free.”

Ending her address, Monae left the audience with some inspiring words about bridging the current divisions in the world.

“I never wanted to be a politician because artists get to be honest,” Monae said. “We get to tell it like it is through our work … Let’s continue to speak out against the sexism, the racism, the homophobia, the Islamophobia, and all those things that are constantly trying to divide us. In these moments of turmoil … we must choose freedom over fear.”

Watch an excerpt from Monae’s full speech in the tweet above.

Why Georgia GOP Candidate's 'Livable Wage' Gaffe Is Not A Slam Dunk For Democrats

When Karen Handel, the Republican candidate for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, flatly stated that she does not support a “livable wage” during a debate with Democrat Jon Ossoff on Tuesday evening, Beltway journalists were incredulous, certain she had just handed Ossoff a major cudgel to whack her with in the home stretch.

But neither Ossoff’s campaign nor the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee would say on Wednesday whether they plan to use the comments in advertisements or other campaign materials.

If Ossoff and his party backers decide not to press the matter ― or opt for a more targeted approach than blasting Handel on the airwaves ― it could be because the issue is not likely to help the 30-year-old Democrat in an affluent, traditionally Republican district, according to several Atlanta area political analysts.

“It was a remarkably dumb thing for her to say, but I don’t really see it having much of an impact,” said Alan Abramowitz, a political science professor at Emory University.

Milt Tambor, chair of the Metro Atlanta chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, a left-wing organization that has not endorsed anyone in the race, offered a similar assessment.

“It may turn more people out just by virtue of it giving the race more attention,” Tambor said. “The content of the debate won’t make that much a difference for progressive turnout.”

It was a remarkably dumb thing for her to say, but I don’t really see it having much an impact.
Alan Abramowitz, Emory University.

Although many Republican politicians oppose increases in the federal minimum wage of $7.25, few have expressed that position as bluntly as Handel did.

Handel, a 55-year-old former Georgia secretary of state, gave her response after Ossoff said he favors increasing the minimum wage because workers should earn a “living wage.”

Handel seized on that turn of phrase.

“I do not support a livable wage,” she said. “What I support is making sure we have an economy that is robust with low taxes and less regulation, so that those small businesses that would be dramatically hurt if you imposed higher minimum wages on them are able to do what they do best: grow jobs and create good-paying jobs for the people of the 6th District.”

Handel’s campaign did not respond to a request for clarification about the meaning of her remarks, which implied that she has no problem with workers being unable to make ends meet on the current minimum wage.

Georgia’s minimum wage is technically $5.15 an hour, though in almost all cases it is superseded by the federal minimum of $7.25 an hour. For a single adult in the three counties in Georgia’s 6th District, the minimum living wage is $12.01 per hour, according to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Living Wage Calculator.

In keeping with the cautious tone of Ossoff’s campaign, Ossoff spokeswoman Sacha Haworth would not say how much of a hike in the federal minimum wage Ossoff would support if elected.

Instead, she reiterated in an email Ossoff’s commitment to a living wage, to be achieved through an unspecified “increase in the federal minimum wage indexed to cost of living and implemented at a pace that allows employers to adapt their business plans.”

Voters in Georgia’s 6th District will choose between Ossoff and Handel in a June 20 runoff election. Ossoff failed to break the 50-percent threshold necessary to win outright in a first-round election in April, but still garnered 48 percent of the vote.

Ossoff’s campaign has generated excitement among national Democrats and progressive activists who see his bid as an opportunity to pick up a symbolically important victory against President Donald Trump. Ossoff himself has raised $8.3 million and the DCCC has invested more than $5 million in the race. Fearing Republican humiliation, outside conservative groups have meanwhile injected $9 million into the race since the start of the primary.

Ossoff’s delicate maneuvering on the minimum wage and other issues reflects the unique challenge he faces in trying to flip the 6th District after former Rep. Tom Price’s Cabinet appointment created a vacancy there. Price won re-election in November by 23 percentage points. Trump, by contrast, edged Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton by just 1.5 points in the district.

Turnout is generally lower in a special election, so Ossoff is trying to capitalize on the energy of liberal anti-Trump activists and growing communities of color in the district, while securing just enough support from Republican and independent voters turned off by Trump’s governance.

With the help of abundant financial resources, Ossoff’s centrist approach appears to have had some success: The latest poll has him leading Handel by 1 percentage point.

Nationwide, 55 percent of Republicans favor raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10, according to an April 2016 HuffPost/YouGov poll.

But regardless of their views, the wealthy Republicans in Georgia’s 6th are less likely to be affected by the minimum wage one way or another, said Kerwin Swint, chairman of the political science department at Kennesaw State University. That makes them more likely to either oppose increasing the minimum wage, or at least tolerate a politician who opposes it, Swint ventured.

Abramowitz of Emory University suggested that it is unlikely that Ossoff will emphasize the minimum wage for that very reason.

“They need to hold onto the 10 to 15 percent of Republicans who want to vote for Ossoff right now,” he said.

One way Handel’s remark could work to Ossoff’s benefit, Swint added, is if he forces her “to try to spend some capital explaining what she meant. To the extent that it takes her off of her agenda, it’s a distraction.”

Still, the affair is “not fatal” to Handel, he said, because her victory depends on Republican turnout, and that particular comment is unlikely to keep Republican voters from coming out to the polls.

“If the Republican base turns out, she will win,” he concluded.

Salma Hayek Flew A Mariachi Band To Cannes For The Best Reason

Salma Hayek was so proud of the Latino star power present at the Cannes Film Festival last month, she hired a mariachi band to celebrate.

The Mexican actress appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Tuesday, where she explained how and why she orchestrated the impromptu performance, which took place during the festival’s 70th anniversary gala dinner on May 23.

“I realize that out of these hundred people from all over the world, at least 10 percent were Latinos, most of the 10 percent were Mexican, and they were my friends,” Hayek said of the festival. “And I felt such a sense of pride and I was so moved that I went crazy.”

So much so, the “Beatriz At Dinner” actress said, that mere hours before the dinner was set to begin, she declared to her husband, François-Henri Pinault, “We need to bring a mariachi tonight!”

Though her husband expressed some doubt, Hayek made it happen. She flew a band in from Paris and rounded up what mezcal and tequila she could.

“It was a big production,” she told Colbert. But well worth it.

Video clips of the event shared on Hayek’s Instagram page show everyone in attendance, including Diego Luna, Gael García Bernal, Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro González Iñárritu and many others, singing along with the band and having an overall good time.

A very good time.

“It was amazing. Everybody went crazy,” Hayek said of the event. “It was a huge success.”

Watch Salma Hayek describe the festive evening in hilarious detail in the video up top.
