This elevator goes in all directions like a Wonkavator

That odd word isn’t some grownup’s toy. It is, instead, a coined term that sprung from the genius of famed children’s book author Roald Dahl, appearing in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is a fictional elevator that can travel vertically, horizontally, and even diagonally. Fiction, however, is now a possible reality, thanks to the persistence of German steel mmaker … Continue reading

SNES Classic Edition In Japan Will Have Exclusive Titles

Nintendo announced the SNES Classic Edition just yesterday and with the console, they also announced 21 games that would come preloaded on it. Unsurprisingly it turns out that Nintendo has a different version of the console for Japan, and with the Japan console it looks like there will be titles exclusive to it.

Last year with the NES Classic Edition, Japan got theirs in the form of the Mini Famicom which was basically the same console with a different design, which is why we’re not surprised that Nintendo is repeating that again this year. With the Japanese version of the SNES Classic Edition, it will feature five exclusive titles that will not be available to the European or North American market.

This includes Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, The Legend of Mystical Ninja, Panel de Pon, Super Soccer, and Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers. Now to be fair, the European and North American markets will have their own exclusives in the form of Earthbound, Kirby’s Dream Course, Street Fighter 2′ Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Super Castlevania 4, and Super Punch-Out!!

We guess depending on your preferences, some gamers might find the Japan version to be “better”, but since gamers can really install new games on the console, either buy both versions of pick one and make do with what you’ve got. The SNES Classic Edition is currently set for a release on the 29th of September later this year.

Evernote Discontinues Support For BlackBerry And Windows Phone

If we were to turn back the clock maybe 5 years ago, the mobile landscape looks very different compared to today. Back then iOS and Android were still very dominant, but there were attempts by BlackBerry and Microsoft and even Nokia to try and make their mark, although safe to say that in today’s landscape, it’s pretty much iOS or Android.

This means that when it comes to developers supporting apps, it boils down to supporting apps on platforms that has the most users, and unfortunately for Evernote users on older BlackBerry or Windows Phone devices, support for those platforms has come to an end, as announced on Evernote’s website.

According to Evernote, “As of June 29, 2017, we’ll be discontinuing support for BlackBerry and Windows Phone. If you currently use Evernote on these platforms, you may continue to do so. Evernote, however, will no longer be available for download on these devices and we won’t be making any further updates.”

In the meantime your notes and notebooks won’t be affected by this as lack of support simply means that there will no longer be updates. This shouldn’t really come as a surprise as Evernote isn’t alone in discontinuing their support. WhatsApp was also supposed to end their support, and while they still plan on doing so, they have extended their deadline.

YouTube’s Uptime App Is Now Available To All

Companies like Google from time to time conduct experiments in the form of apps that are created just out of fun. One of the results of those experiments came in the form of Uptime, an app for YouTube that was the born out of the Area 120 incubator. The app was initially launched in beta form, but it looks like it is now available to all.

For those who are unfamiliar with Uptime, like we said it is an app designed for YouTube that is meant to help create a more social watching experience. Basically YouTube is a largely solo experience where you watch it on your computer or mobile device, and unless your friends are seated around you, they don’t really get to see what you see, and sharing videos means you have to wait for them to finish it to discuss it.

With Uptime, users get to watch videos at the same time, meaning that what you are watching this very second is pretty much what your friend is watching too. Users can add reactions and comments during the video’s playback, so it’s almost as if you’re discussing the video in person, almost like how SoundCloud’s commenting system on tracks works.

Unfortunately at the moment Uptime is only available on iOS devices and is available via the iTunes App Store. We’re not sure if there are plans to eventually bring it onto Android, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually were to be released on Android later on.

Sprint’s Plans To Merge With T-Mobile Might Have Been Put On Hold

A while back, Sprint and T-Mobile were in talks to merge but that did not happen despite both companies seemingly wanting it to happen, but now it looks like Sprint could have a new target in their sights. According to a report from Fox Business, it seems that Sprint has entered into talks with Charter Communications and Comcast.

Ultimately what this means is that the carrier’s plans to potentially merge with T-Mobile has been put on hold. The report claims that Sprint and the cable companies have entered into a two month exclusive agreement for discussions about a deal that will run through late July, although we’re not sure what this could mean for the merger with T-Mobile.

This deal could see Charter and Comcast invest in Sprint to help improve its network in exchange for offering more favorable terms for wireless service when using Sprint’s network. An alternative is that both cable companies could acquire Sprint together, but it seems that would be a less likely scenario.

It is interesting that Sprint could have put talks with T-Mobile on hold. Like we said, both companies have wanted the merger to happen since a few years ago, and in recent times even T-Mobile’s CFO said that such a merger could make sense with reports claiming that the plans to merge both companies were already underway, but either way since nothing official has been announced yet, take it with a grain of salt.
