Refurbished Apple Pencils Are Now Available For Purchase

One of the key features of the iPad Pros is ironically enough the Apple Pencil, which at its core is essentially a stylus and an accessory that Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs once derided. However it has proved to be an incredibly useful and almost invaluable tool for those who use the iPad Pro for graphic design work.

At the same time the accessory does not come cheap at a price tag of $99, but the good news is that you can now save yourself some money if you don’t mind refurbished products. It has been spotted that Apple is now selling refurbished Apple Pencils, which basically means that these have been bought and returned by customers.

However they have also been looked over and fixed (if anything needs fixing) to ensure that it is in tip-top working condition before being sold. If you don’t mind something that was pre-owned, you’ll get to save yourself about $14 as the refurbished Apple Pencil is priced at $85. It’s not a whole sight cheaper compared to brand new, but if you’re on a budget, then why not?

Note that since this is a refurbished product, supply will be limited so you might want to hurry before it is sold out, so head on over to Apple’s website for the details and to make your purchase.

OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T To Get Android O This Year

The benefits to being a smaller company with few products in its portfolio is that OnePlus gets to concentrate more and pour more resources and efforts into products that they do have. This also means that unlike bigger companies like Samsung, OnePlus only has a few devices that needs updating, which is why both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T received the Android Nougat update last year relatively earlier than other devices.

The good news is that it looks like that tradition of speed/efficiency will be applied to the next major Android release, Android O. In a post on Reddit, OnePlus has confirmed that both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will be receiving the update to Android O by the end of this year. When exactly remains to be seen as Google has yet to officially release Android O, but presumably it should be in the coming months.

As to when OnePlus will get around to releasing it, last year we saw OnePlus release Nougat in December, so presumably it should take them just as long as well. There was no mention of the recently launched OnePlus 5 and its update to Android O, but presumably it should also be updated within the same time frame, if not earlier. Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding the update, so check back with us in the coming months for the details.

KADO Is A Wall Charger That Can Fit In Your Wallet

We are still at that point in time where the batteries on our phones aren’t quite lasting as long as we would like. Sure there have been improvements made over the years, but squeezing our two days worth of use is rare, which is why battery packs are pretty common since carrying around a wall charger isn’t exactly the most convenient/ideal.

However that has changed with the launch of KADO on Kickstarter. KADO is a wall charger that claims to be the world’s thinnest at 5mm thin. From what we can see in the video above, it is slim enough where it can actually be slotted into a purse or wallet, or your pants, or in your bag without it taken up any space at all.

Of course the downside to this is that unlike battery pack that stores charges, using the KADO means you will have to make sure that wherever you’re going as an outlet to plug it into, otherwise there is really no point, but then again with its portability you could bring it with you everywhere you go.

It comes in several variations, such as in micro USB, USB-C, and Lightning. The cables are retractable and removable, so you don’t need to bring a separate cable, and you can also unplug it from the charger and plug it into a computer if you want to make data transfers. If you’re interested then hit up its Kickstarter page and pledge your support.

OnePlus CEO Weighs In On OnePlus 5 Criticisms

The OnePlus 5 was announced about a week ago and its specs on paper appears to make it one of the most powerful handsets available in the market out there today, what with it sporting more RAM than most of its competitors, while packing the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset that puts it in line with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8.

But yet despite that, OnePlus was found to have been “cheating” the benchmarks by making the phone run at its max potential for extended periods of time, making it seem that it is more powerful than it really is. There have been some criticisms following that, but the company’s CEO Pete Lau has since stepped forward to address some of them.

Speaking to The Indian Express regarding the benchmark controversy, Lau was quoted as saying, “If there is heating the performance of the CPU will not reach the maximum. We only try to tap the full potential of the CPU. We don’t even know how to overclock.” This is in line with OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s statement in which he stated that the reason for the benchmark scores was because the company was just trying to show the device’s full potential, as opposed to misleading customers.

However like we said, benchmarks are just one indicator of how good/bad a phone is, and there are many, many factors that need to be considered as well. At the end of the day using the phone for yourself is probably the best way to gauge if it is the right fit for you, but hopefully the statements from the execs of the company will clear things up.

Google Home More Accurate Than Alexa At Answering Your Questions

The launch of the first Amazon Echo was surprising in a couple of different ways. For starters a smart speaker with a virtual assistant was something not many people had expected Amazon to have been working on. Secondly the ease of use of the Echo and Alexa was also what helped drive the device’s popularity, which in turned prompted similar devices from competitors.

One of those competitors is Google who launched the Google Home, and it seems that if you’re still a bit torn between deciding on the Google Home or the Amazon Echo, a recent study could help you make your decision. In a recent study done by 360i, it was found that the Google Home was six times more accurate than Alexa at answering your questions.

By that we don’t mean that it is more accurate at picking up your voice and “hearing” you, but rather it is more accurate in the sense that it will give users better results for the things that they ask. Given that Google’s claim to fame was and still is their search engine, this should hardly come as a surprise, although AdWeek notes that RBC Capital Markets is still projecting that Alexa-powered devices will generate as much as $10 billion in revenue for the company by 2020.

However we guess search is one of the features when considering such devices. For example some might also want to factor in the sound quality of the speakers (something that Apple is boasting its upcoming HomePod will be better at), design, price, size, and so on, but if search is one of the primary features that you want a smart speaker, it looks like Google could be a better option.
