Google To Remove Personal Medical Records From Search

For the longest time ever, Google had adopted a laissez faire approach when it came to policing the web and search results, but as Google started to grow and become the default search engine for many, governments and various agencies have started to pressure the company to start being more “responsible” with what kind of search results it put up online.

This has resulted in Google creating categories of content which they would not display in search results, for example revenge porn, content that has been flagged as copyright, and so on. Now in a report from Bloomberg, Google has quietly added a new category and that comes in the form of personal medical records.

This change can be found on Google’s policy page in which a new line that reads, “confidential, personal medical records of private people,” was added. A Google spokeswoman confirmed these changes to Bloomberg and stated that information is only pulled when they get specific requests from individuals, which we guess is kind of like DMCA takedown requests.

While we’re sure that most clinics and hospitals won’t publish patient records online for public consumption, Bloomberg notes how back in 2016 a pathology lab in India accidentally uploaded records of their patients online, which Google then indexed in its search results automatically. So by having this policy, Google can at least reassure users that should their medical records somehow get published online, they can at least have it taken down from search results on Google.

Amazon Patents Idea For A Hive Of Drones

Amazon’s plans to potentially use drones for package deliveries isn’t exactly a secret, although for now it appears that it is currently undergoing testing. The idea is that drones can help to make deliveries to nearby areas and for packages that aren’t too big, thus allowing the company to make the delivery process more efficient.

This is why it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that Amazon could one day have a drone fulfilment center where it would basically house a hive of drones that would fly out and make deliveries within an area, and this is exactly what the company has patented in a recently discovered patent.

As you can see in the diagram above, it shows how Amazon could construct a building in which drones could fly in and out when they are making deliveries and when they are returning. The patent also describes how it could house robots that will help the humans working in the fulfilment center at filling orders and fetching items.

To prevent rogue drones from flying in, Amazon’s patent also talks about how the landing platforms are locked with doors that can authenticate Amazon’s own drones via wireless communication. Now given that this is a patent we’re not sure if it will ever see the light of day, but assuming drone delivery takes off, it actually makes sense for such a center to exist.

Bill Clinton Zings Trump Administration At Alec Baldwin Roast

Former President Bill Clinton on Sunday jabbed at the Trump administration during a Spike TV celebration of actor Alec Baldwin that was taped to be broadcast in July.

The former president and other celebrities, including Tracy Morgan and Robert De Niro, were primarily on hand at Apollo Theater in New York City to toast and roast Baldwin, a Donald Trump critic whose impersonation of the president helped pump the ratings of “Saturday Night Live” in the past year. But Clinton ribbed the Republicans in charge as well, USA Today reports.

“I wouldn’t know an alternative fact if it hit me in the face,” Clinton said, using a phrase popular with the Trump administration.

He later described Baldwin’s political inclinations from elementary school through college.

“He ended up going to George Washington University for two years, ran for student-body president and came back home to New York, where he followed the then-classic path, from politics to the soap operas,” Clinton said. “And now we know it works the other way around. You need to think about running again — you’ll probably win the next time.”

The “One Night Only: Alec Baldwin” special will air July 9 on Spike.

LG V30 to make a big change for a new feature

Wireless charging isn’t exactly new but very few, like Samsung, make it a must-have for their flagship products. Things might soon change, however, if the iPhone 8 does end up having such a feature. More Alleged Google Pixel 2, Pixel XL 2 Details Revealed

Without a doubt it is safe to say that Google will be returning this year with new Pixel handsets, which based on past Google announcements should be made sometime in Q3 later this year. We’ve been hearing a bit about the phones recently, but thanks to the folks at XDA additional information about the Pixel 2 and its larger sibling have been revealed.

For starters it should be noted that there will only be two Pixel devices this year. There were rumors about a possible third handset codenamed “Muskie” but apparently that has since been cancelled. That being said, here’s what the folks at XDA have revealed about the two upcoming handsets.

Starting with “Taimen” which is the Pixel XL 2, it is rumored to sport a 5.99-inch display with a QHD resolution. It is said to sport a smaller bezel than its predecessor which isn’t surprising given the trend these days. We are also looking at the use of the Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM, and a single-camera configuration.

As for the “Walleye”, the “regular” Pixel 2’, it will sport a smaller 4.97-inch display, but apparently its resolution will be FHD instead of QHD. Design wise apparently it will maintain the same larger bezels as its predecessor, but apart from that the rest of the specs are said to be similar to the Pixel XL 2. Take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully we’ll have the official details in the coming months.

These iPhone 8 Dummy Units ‘Confirms’ Its Design

Apple’s iPhone sales have been on the decline for the past few quarters, but many are expecting that this will turn around with the launch of the iPhone 8. This is because the iPhone 8 is expected to usher in a brand new design as well as a bunch of highly-requested features, like an embedded fingerprint scanner, wireless charging, and more.

So far the rumor mill has been somewhat divided on what the phone could look like. We’ve seen leaks which contradict previous rumors, and we’ve seen leaks the corroborate the rumors. The latest set of photos from @OnLeaks appears to fall in the latter category as it allegedly shows a dummy unit of the iPhone 8.

From what we can tell, it seems that this dummy unit looks like what the rumors have been saying, which is a new dual camera setup, a new design, an edge-to-edge display, and also the lack of a home button which suggests that the fingerprint sensor could be embedded under the display.

Of course it is entirely possible that this dummy unit could have been cobbled together based on the rumors, so to call it a credible piece of intel isn’t very accurate, but assuming it’s accurate then perhaps this could be a glimpse at the final product. Apple is still months away from officially announcing their new iPhones, so until then take it with a grain of salt.

Facebook Announces New App Aimed At Video Creators

It is no secret that Facebook wants to be your one-stop shop for everything, whether it be a place for you to get the news, for you to reach out to customers, for you to sell/buy items, or for you to consume video content. In fact speaking of video, recently at VidCon it looks like Facebook has announced a new app that is geared towards video creators.

According to  Facebook product director Daniel Danker, this app will be focused on the creator of the video. “It has never been a better time to be a creator on Facebook, With Facebook we can connect and create community with your audience and tell stories that are social, personal, and authentic.”

The app will provide the creator with access to Facebook Live, and also additional tools that allows them to create intros and outros for broadcasts, custom stickers, custom frames, and so on. It will also provide additional insights to the video so that creators have a better idea of who are watching their videos.

Clearly with these changes Facebook is hoping to make their platform more attractive compared to competing video platforms such as YouTube, which is currently still very dominant. We’re not sure if we will eventually see more users turn to Facebook for their video needs instead of YouTube, but if you’re someone who does use Facebook Live a lot, perhaps this app could be worth keeping an eye out for.
