Galaxy S8 Active images confirm rugged but compact look

The Galaxy Note 8 is due to unveil in about 3 weeks, but Samsung fans’ attention might be split among two high-end smartphones. While it’s not going to hold a candle in terms of design, the Galaxy S8 Active is actually going to be just as capable as the Galaxy S8 or even the Galaxy Note 8 in some aspects. … Continue reading

If there were still doubts that Apple would be embracing OLED over LCD moving forward, this new bit of information might dispel that. According to Korean media, Apple and LG Display, LG’s panel-making business, have just reached an agreement into how much OLED displays the latter will supply Apple, most likely for iPhones, next year. This spells some trouble for … Continue reading

Huawei’s Latest Tweet Hints At AI Efforts

With Apple, Google, Microsoft, and even Samsung launching their own digital assistants for their mobiles and operating systems, it seems that maybe Huawei wants in on it too. In a recent tweet sent out by the company, they posted a somewhat cryptic message about AI, and what it means to “you”.

This seems to suggest that Huawei has something AI-related in the works, although exactly what it could be remains to be seen. Some are speculating that based on the image accompanying the tweet (see above) that it could be some kind of chip to control AI, or a chip with AI on board that could be installed into other devices, not just phones.

Some are speculating that it could be Huawei’s way of announcing their own digital assistant of sorts, although we guess both speculations could be right. As it stands Huawei doesn’t have their own digital assistant software so this could be their way of introducing it. Not to mention the company seems to have shifted its focus and strategy where they will now focus on high-end devices to compete against the likes of Apple.

Huawei recently stated that they believe that their upcoming Huawei Mate 10 will be more powerful than Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8, but whether that is just talk or if it will be proven true remains to be seen.

Capcom Starting To Prepare More Games For The Nintendo Switch

Despite Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challenge not necessarily being a new title per se in the Street Fighter franchise, it seems that gamers on the Nintendo Switch lapped it up where according to Capcom, the game was considered to be a “smash hit”. In fact it seems Capcom is so pleased with the platform that they are now planning more titles for it.

This is according to a recent tweet by The Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki who wrote, “Capcom: 450K is 1Q figure for Ultra Street Fighter II, above its expectation. Also “starting to prepare” multiple Switch-version titles.” Unfortunately it is unclear as to what kind of games we can expect to see from Capcom, and whether or not they’ll be new franchises or if they will be ports from existing franchises, or remakes of older titles (like they did with Street Fighter).

However if you were hoping to see Resident Evil as one of the franchises that Capcom could bring to the Switch, earlier this year the game’s producer ruled it out. It was stated that while the Switch was a unique piece of hardware, there are no plans to bring Resident Evil onto the Switch.

Then again that was in January this year, and who knows perhaps the success of Street Fighter on the Switch could see Capcom change their mind. However even if they don’t, there are still plenty of other Capcom titles that we wouldn’t mind seeing arrive for the Switch anyway.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Could Get A Price Drop Ahead Of Release

During E3 2017, it was confirmed that Ubisoft had a brand new game that would be pretty much exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, and that came in the form of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. This is basically a mashup of Nintendo’s Mario franchise and Ubisoft’s Rabbids franchise, which is something you don’t see everyday.

In terms of pricing, given that this is a full game we guess it was safe to assume that it would be priced at around the $60 mark. However that might not be the case as apparently the game could be getting a price cut ahead of its release. This is according to a report from Nintendo Soup who claims that their sources told them that the game would be reduced from $59.99 to $49.99.

This will be taking place before its launch which means that those who pre-ordered the game won’t have to place a new order or seek a refund. We’re not sure why there might even be a price drop considering the game has yet to be officially launched, not to mention since most full games are priced at $60, it’s not as if Nintendo or Ubisoft are being unreasonable about it.

In any case take it with a grain of salt but with the game set for a release on the 29th of August next month, we should be finding out the official pricing very soon.

‘The Evil Within’ To Get A Comic Series To Bridge Both Games

There’s only so much story-telling that one can do in a game without it straying too far from the actual gameplay, which is why we’re starting to see developers look at alternative means of filling in the gaps, such as through animated shorts and comics. In fact Bethesda is looking to do the same with “The Evil Within” with a comic series.

Teaming up with Titan Publishing, it looks like fans of the franchise can look forward to a comic series that will bridge the gap between the first game and its sequel. Set for a release on the 6th of September, the description reads, “Sebastian Castellanos does not lead a very charmed life. His family has been torn apart, all of his friends are either dead or missing, and he’s currently ‘between jobs.’ Oh, and he got thrown into a hellish nightmare world and no one will believe his story, which has driven him just a little bit crazy.”

The series will be written by Ryan O’Sullivan and will also feature art by Damien Worm and Szymon Kudranski. For those unfamiliar, The Evil Within is a brand new franchise that was originally launched in 2013 by Shinji Mikami, who some gamers might be familiar with as the creator of Resident Evil.

The Evil Within 2 was officially announced at E3 last month and is currently set for a release on the 13th of October, 2017.

Did A New Overwatch Hero Just Get Leaked?

It was just last week that Blizzard released the latest character for Overwatch into the game in the form of Doomfist. Now we highly doubt that Blizzard is done adding new characters to the game, but could a new hero already be in the works? According to a series of images leaked onto Imgur (via Game Rant), the answer is yes.

The images were posted by a user by the name of BlackwatchFiles, who is allegedly a developer at Blizzard. The leak contains a drawing and some renderings of the character who will apparently be known as Psyren. According to the character’s biography, Psyren is apparently a former member of Blackwatch and is a student of Overwatch’s Reaper.

While it does seem like a very extensive leak, there are many who have expressed their skepticism about the authenticity of the leak. For starters it does seem a bit too soon to be getting a new hero, especially since usually the wait in between releases is a few months, and with Doomfist being released last week, if Blizzard has a new hero then chances are we might only be seeing it towards the end of the year.

Secondly some have pointed out that this hero seems to lack a proper 3D model of the character, and the artwork certainly seems more like what a fan would draw as opposed to what Blizzard’s artists would draw, so while we can’t say with 100% certainty that this leak is fake, you should probably approach it with a healthy dose of skepticism for now.
