Walmart Is Cancelling Some SNES Classic Edition Pre-Orders

Last month Nintendo officially took the wraps off the SNES Classic Edition. This is the latest classic console that the company has unveiled, with the NES Classic Edition being the first. Safe to say that following the success of the NES Classic, many were pretty excited about the SNES Classic Edition, leading to pre-orders selling out pretty quickly.

Unfortunately if you placed your pre-order via Walmart, you might want to check your emails because there is a good chance that your pre-order might have been cancelled. Pre-orders for the console went live last Friday, and shortly after the pre-orders were put up, Walmart had already said that they had run out of available units, which we guess is to be expected, but unfortunately the next day proved to be a different story.

It seems that quite a few customers had started to receive emails from Walmart informing them that their pre-orders had been cancelled. A Polygon reader sent the publication a chat log between them and a Walmart rep who told the customer that pre-orders were cancelled as there was an error and that the pre-orders went live too soon. “We had to cancel this orders [sic] because this item was not scheduled to be displayed on the website yet. We will have it available again soon though.”

Walmart has since confirmed that this is the case via their Twitter account in which a rep said, “We are so sorry! The SNES Classics were released to soon.” We’re not sure when the official pre-orders will be going live, but if you missed out the first time, this could be your chance to get your hands on the console.

It’s hard to imagine that such massive fish could spend the better part of three centuries eluding scientists, but that’s exactly what happened.
