Unless you’re still using an old television, it has probably been years since you’ve last seen television static. The snowy mess was an annoyance; for the user, it meant the coaxial cable needed adjusted or the TV antenna needed leaves cleaned off. As it turns out, that static contained something pretty astonishing: a sliver of residue from the creation of … Continue reading

Many fans fondly remember LEGO set #1682, the Space Shuttle Launch. It was released 27 years ago, and is a classic. Well, last month Adam Woodworth created a tiny drone version of LEGO’s shuttle that could fly indoors, which was cool enough, but now he has created a larger version that can fly like an RC plane.
This version flies pretty well. Woodworth is actually an aerospace engineer, so it is no wonder it takes to the sky so easily. This shuttle is five times as large as LEGO’s original, and its made from 9-millimeter-thick foam sheets instead of hundreds of plastic bricks, which would be way too heavy. The motors were mounted to the moving elevons on its wings, which gives it better maneuverability in the air.
NASA needs to bring back the shuttle program, but this time it should build its ships from LEGO.

Google is almost done getting the first public release build of the next major Android platform release ready. The company today shipped the final Android O developer beta ahead of the official launch that’s due to take place in a couple of months from now. The final developer build is normally a test run which allows the company to test out all of the features that it’s going to include with the public build before actually rolling it out for countless users across the globe.
Android O isn’t going to be as big of an upgrade as Android N or Nougat as far as the overall look and feel of the operating system are concerned. Some of the biggest changes that Google has made to this release are under the hood. Users should expect better battery life, loading times, and overall performance improvements once they upgrade their handsets.
Some minor changes have been made to the user interface as well. Subtle additions include dots on app icons to signal to users that there are pending notifications. There’s even a picture-in-picture mode which will allow for enhanced multitasking.
Like the previous betas, a Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player or Pixel handset is required to test the beta. No other device is supported for the beta release. Google is yet to confirm precisely when it’s going to release Android O but given the fragmented nature of Android, it’s going to be a long wait before you get it on your handset.

OnePlus customers have often had to wait for a considerable amount of time before the order that they’ve placed is actually dispatched. The company started off 2017 by saying that it was going to work hard to eliminate this problem and ensure that its devices are available for immediate dispatch, meaning that the units would ship merely hours after customers placed the order. It has been working towards that goal and has finally confirmed that the OnePlus with 8GB RAM in Midnight Black is now available for immediate dispatch.
This is the second variant of the company’s existing flagship smartphone to become available for immediate dispatch. The other variant, one that has 6GB of RAM, has been available immediately for quite some time now.
The OnePlus 5 features a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display with a Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood. The device also features a 16 megapixel front camera and a dual camera system at the back with a 16 megapixel primary lens coupled with a 20 megapixel telephoto lens.
This particular variant features 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. OnePlus is selling it for $539 which is far lower than competing flagship smartphones.
This variant of the OnePlus 5 is now available for immediate dispatch to customers.
