PS4 Outsells Xbox One And Nintendo Switch Last Month

Sony’s console quickly raced into the lead when the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One came out back in 2013. It has retained the lead since then, however, some months have seen the Xbox One outsell the PlayStation 4, at least in the United States. The latest figures from The NPD Group show that the PlayStation 4 outsold both the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in the United States last month.

Both Microsoft and Sony have released multiple variants of the consoles that they launched back in 2013. Sony added the PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 4 Slim to the lineup while Microsoft launched the Xbox One S. It will release the Xbox One X in the coming months.

The NPD Group’s data shows that the new gold 1TB PlayStation 4 Slim that Sony released last month helped it outsell the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in June. It drove sales for the company and made last month the best June ever for PlayStation 4 sales.

Sony launched the gold PlayStation 4 Slim for $250 on June 9th. It only offered the discounted price for a limited time because the same console is now selling for the normal $300 retail price.

Microsoft will see an uptick in sales once the Xbox One X is released. It’s the most powerful console that the company has ever created. In fact, it’s going to be the most powerful console on the market when it comes out.

LG G4 Android 7.0 Update Released For Some Models

LG confirmed back in March this year that it was going to release the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the LG G4. The company did say at that time that the update is not going to arrive before the second half of this year. Google released Android 7.0 Nougat almost a full year ago and the LG G4 is one of the many handsets that have still not been updated. However, it appears that LG G4 owners may not have to wait that long for the update to arrive.

Multiple reports suggest that LG has released the Android 7.0 Nougat update for some models of the G4. It available via the LG Bridge app for users in South Korea. They can connect their handset to their PC, launch the app, and update their device to Nougat.

LG doesn’t seem to have begun the over-the-air rollout of the update as yet but seeing as how it’s already distributing the firmware through its LG Bridge app in South Korea, it may not be long before it releases the OTA version as well.

Nougat builds for other LG G4 variants haven’t appeared as yet but they might in the near future. Those who own carrier-locked variants of the LG G4 may have to wait for much longer as the carriers tend to delay the release due to their own testing and certification processes.

This is most likely going to be the final major Android update for the LG G4 seeing as how the handset was released back in April 2015. Android devices are normally not supported for major firmware releases beyond two years.
