Adobe Lightroom For iOS Gains Support For 3D Touch, Apple Pencil

The thing with the iPad Pro is that thanks to the Apple Pencil, it makes it the perfect tool to use if you want to draw on the go, or if you want to be able to edit photos in the field. Granted editing on a computer might be better thanks to a larger display, but if you had to edit in the field, the iPad Pro would come in handy, especially when paired with Adobe Lightroom.

The good news for photographers is that if the above describes your workflow, you might be pleased to learn that Adobe has recently issued an update for Lightroom for iOS, where support for the Apple Pencil is one of the new features that they’ll be introducing. To be more specific, users with the Apple Pencil will be able to make edits that might be pressure-sensitive. The changelog reads, “Supports Apple Pencil for pressure-sensitive application of enhancements”.

For those who don’t own the iPad Pro or Apple Pencil, not to worry as Adobe has not forgotten about you guys either. For iPhone owners, Adobe will be introducing a similar feature but instead of the Apple Pencil, it will rely on 3D Touch which is also pressure-sensitive. According to Adobe, “Supports 3D Touch for pressure-sensitive application of enhancements on devices that support 3D Touch”.

The update should already be live so if you haven’t done so already, you’ll be able to get your hands on it via the iTunes App Store.

India Debuts Their First Solar-Powered Train

As cars and trucks are motorbikes are starting to make the move towards greener options, such as going electric instead of consuming fuel, it looks like trains are headed towards that direction as well. In fact over in India, it seems that the country’s first solar-powered train has made its debut, bringing the country’s train network one step closer to more sustainable options.

At the moment India’s train network is pretty much powered by diesel trains, which makes this new train a first for the country. Speaking to Business Standard, Sandeep Gupta, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Jakson Engineers Limited revealed that installing the solar panels on the train proved to be a difficult task.

“It is not an easy task to fit solar panels on the roof of train coaches that run at a speed of 80 km per hour.” However before you get too excited, the whole train won’t be powered by solar. The train is still expected to be pulled by a diesel locomotive, so in reality the solar panels will actually be used to power the passenger comfort systems, such as lights, information displays, and fans.

However we guess it is still a start and perhaps one day we could see an entire train powered by solar energy.

Nintendo Switch Online App Is Now Available

A couple of weeks ago, Nintendo announced that they would be launching the Nintendo Switch Online app. This is Nintendo’s upcoming app that will be used for its online services, where users will be able to interact with other gamers, manage their games, and also more importantly use it for voice chat.

The app was scheduled for a launch on the 21st of July, but it seems that someone might have pulled the trigger a bit earlier than expected because the app is now available for download for both iOS and Android devices. That being said, it seems that there’s not much that one can do with the app at the moment since Splatoon 2 is the only game that will fully support it at the moment.

We expect that other games will be supported in the future, but for now if you don’t own Splatoon 2 then we guess you won’t really be using the app all that much yet. Do take note that according to Polygon, it seems that Nintendo is working on stabilizing the app’s servers which means that you might experience some connectivity issues for now, but presumably it will stabilize eventually.

Once it does, users will be able to log into the app with their Nintendo Account that is associated with their Switch console. If you haven’t linked your Account with your Switch console, then perhaps now is a good time to do so.

Alleged LG V30 Spotted On Benchmarks

The LG V30 is LG’s upcoming flagship smartphone, or at least its second flagship smartphone of the year. The handset is rumored to pack the latest hardware under its hood, and thanks to a recent benchmark sighting, it seems that some of the rumors have been confirmed, such as the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4GB of RAM.

Given that the LG G6 was launched with the Snapdragon 821 instead of the 835, we guess it makes sense that LG would be equipping the LG V30 with the 835. RAM-wise it seems that LG won’t be going beyond 4GB, which honestly would have been a bit of an overkill. Interestingly enough it also appears that the LG V30 is running Android 7.1.2 Nougat on the benchmarks.

We would have liked to see it run Android 8.0 “O”, but given that Google has yet to confirm the release of Android O, we guess we can’t really fault LG for this, but hopefully when Android O is released, LG won’t make customers wait too long before the update is issued. Other than that the benchmarks don’t really reveal anything else.

There are rumors suggesting that the LG V30 could be ditching the secondary ticker display which was one of its key features, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Recent alleged renders also seems to confirm dual rear-facing cameras, but in any case we should have the official details on the 31st of August, so check back with us then for more updates.
