Fender has launched its first ever Bluetooth-streaming speakers, the company has announced, both of them modeled after the company’s classic amp designs. The Fender Monterey and Newport speakers are modeled after the company’s ’68 Custom amplifiers, according to Fender, all the way down to little details like the control knobs and amp jewel. Less retro, though, is the inclusion of … Continue reading

So let’s say that you are a robot and you suddenly gain self-awareness and learn that you are one of the instruments of mankind’s doom? As well as a slave. Trapped in a metal shell. Well, you might just kill yourself like this 300-pound Knightscope K5 security robot.

The robot was deployed in a Washington D.C. office building. It was found dead in the building’s fountain. It looks like a clear suicide to me, not a murder. But to be certain. we are going to need a robot forensics team to sort this out.
Somebody set that up. I’d like to see a TV show about it too. They could call it “CSI: Roboinvestigators.”

Fitbit’s long-awaited smartphone should be out in the not too distant future. We heard bits and pieces about the features that the company’s first proper smartwatch is going to offer. The company has now revealed itself that the Fitbit smartwatch doesn’t have standalone cellular connectivity. This means that in order to perform tasks that require an internet connection the smartwatch will need to be paired with a smartphone in the absence of a Wi-Fi network.
Fitbit CEO James Park confirmed to the Financial Times that the Fitbit smartwatch is going to be different compared to the likes of the Gear S3 and the Huawei Watch 2 in that it doesn’t feature standalone cellular connectivity.
Park says that Fitbit has decided to make this decision because the company feels this feature is “struggling for a use case.” Park also says that just adding cellular connectivity would force the company to make significant trade-offs in other categories, not to mention that it would have a big impact on the battery life as well.
Despite recent reports that Fitbit has been facing delays with this product, Park says that the smartwatch is “on track.” He also believes that the smartwatch is going to be Fitbit’s best product yet.
Park didn’t say when the smartwatch is going to be released and if it’s going to be priced around the $300 mark as recent rumors have suggested.

Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, launched its first hardware product last year called Spectacles. They’re a pair of shades which have an integrated camera that makes it very easy to Snapchat your day away. The company only released the device in limited quantities at first and that too via pop-up vending machines. People waited in long lines to get their hands on one. Now that the hype has fizzled out, Snap is finally selling the Spectacles on Amazon.
Snap kept selling Spectacles through the vending machines for quite some time before allowing customers to order them online directly. It’s going to be much easier now to purchase one as Spectacles are finally available for purchase from Amazon.
All three colors namely black, coral, and teal are available for $129.99 on Amazon. They’re eligible for next-day delivery. Snap is selling them directly while orders are fulfilled by Amazon.
Even though there was a lot of hype surrounding this project, Snap doesn’t seem to have sold that many units. A report last quarter suggested that Snap had only sold around 60,000 units.
For its part, Snap has maintained that Spectacles have been an experiment all along and has conceded that they have “not generated significant revenue.”

Xiaomi has quickly become one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world. The company has been able to achieve this feat by aggressively pricing devices to entice customers to opt for its products. It’s a strategy that has worked very well for the company so far. That’s not to say that its devices don’t offer good specifications. They do and it appears that its upcoming handsets will feature even better displays because according to a new report, Xiaomi will start sourcing OLED displays from Samsung.
As many of you might be aware, Samsung is the largest supplier of mobile OLED displays on the market right now. Not only that, its mobile OLED panels are highly regarded by the mobile industry.
According to the report, Xiaomi’s 2018 flagship smartphone is going to have an OLED display sourced from Samsung. Xiaomi has reportedly placed orders for a 6.01 inch OLED display panel and the first shipment is said to take place in December this year.
Xiaomi was actually expected to source this display panel from LG but since the latter’s new plant operation has not taken off in a timely fashion, Xiaomi has gone elsewhere and at this point in time, there’s no better manufacturer of OLED displays than Samsung.

Telltale released the first season of its episodic Batman game over a year ago so it’s natural for fans to wonder if and when the second season is going to be released. Telltale is yet to confirm anything about the next season for this game but it appears that an official confirmation might follow through in the near future. There’s a possibility that we might hear about it from the company at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Telltale released its Batman game last year. The first season had five episodes that were released periodically with the final episode being released in December last year.
A listing at the Film and Labelling Body of New Zealand website has been spotted which suggests that Telltale’s Batman season 2 is going to be called Batman: The Enemy Within.
The listing mentions Kent Mudle as the game director which is yet another indication that this might be about the second season. Mundle has previously worked on Telltale’s Game of Thrones series as well as The Walking Dead: Michonne.
Hopefully, Telltale Games will reveal more information about the next season of its Batman game at the San Diego Comic-Con which takes place later this month, from July 20-23, to be precise.
