The star was battling ALS.
The smartphone chip wars may have focused on processors so far, but just how fast your data connection is has become the next frontier. It’s one that Samsung plans to dominate in, too, with the arrival of the new Samsung Cat.18 6CA-supporting LTE modem. It promises a 20-percent improvement in maximum download rates, with the potential for big performance jumps … Continue reading
The long-awaited return of the flip phone may well be upon us – or it is if Samsung has anything to say about it. With the Android-based W2018, Samsung’s plan seems to be mixing the elder king of mobile phones with the best parts of the new generation. Android lives inside this device, so we’ve got all the apps we … Continue reading
Deja-vu. That’s the first thing I felt behind the wheel of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300 4MATIC sedan, and not just because it had only been a matter of weeks since I drove its E400 Coupe sibling. No, what’s striking about the E300 is just how much of the S-Class experience it offers. That’s no bad thing, of course. In the … Continue reading

If I learned anything from Leonardo DiCaprio, it’s that we all need a totem, lest we might actually be stuck in a dream within a dream. If I had to choose one, I think I’d go with a top too, but something a bit cooler than the one he had in Inception. These spinning toys from Kyouei Design should work quite nicely.
What’s really cool about designer Kouichi Okamoto’s “Shape of Revolve” tops isn’t just what they look like while they’re spinning, but what they look like when they’re stopped. They’re like miniature modern art sculptures. I can’t decide which of the three designs I like best, but I’m thinking it’s the circle in the square.
Each one is made from black-plated stainless steel, and measures a little more than 3″ across. They’re sold only in a set of three, which will set you back ¥12,800 (~$115 USD), plus the cost of shipping from Japan.
