Xbox One X Scorpio Edition Sales Exceeding Expectations At Microsoft

Microsoft confirmed a special edition of the Xbox One X at Gamescom last week. It’s called the Project Scorpio Edition and it’s meant for the diehard Xbox fans that used to lineup outside stores to get their hands on Microsoft’s latest consoles. It’s the first Xbox One X to be available for pre-order earlier this week and it turns out that sales have exceeded expectations at Microsoft.

Aaron Greenberg, the head of marketing at Xbox, revealed that the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition sold out faster than the company was expecting. Amazon was sold out of its inventory within 25 minutes.

“We expected our total inventory to last about a week and it sold out in less than a day, so… We don’t share the amount of inventory, but the Project Scorpio Edition was for those core fans, the people that used to line up in front of the stores,” he said.

Greenberg reiterates that the Project Scorpio Edition has been made for the company’s diehard fans and they have responded in kind. Fans in Germany were particularly excited to get their hands on this special edition. Greenberg thinks that the order rate in Germany was perhaps the fastest in the world for the Xbox One X.

The standard edition Xbox One X will be available on November 7th.

Razer’s Wolverine Ultimate Xbox Controller Is Absolutely Bonkers

Microsoft is selling the Xbox Elite controller separately for serious gamers but Razer isn’t going to let it have all the fun. The company has announced its Razer Wolverine Ultimate Xbox controller today and it’s just bonkers. It a configurable Xbox controller that not only works with the console but with PCs as well. It even touts Razer’s famous Chroma RBG lighting.

The Razer Wolverine Ultimate Xbox controller has interchangeable D-Pads, six remappable triggers, and buttons as well as thumb stick adapters in different heights and sizes. Razer’s Chroma lighting with its full 16.8 million color options is onboard as well.

There’s a Hair-Trigger Mode with Trigger-Stop for rapid fire. The controller has an ergonomic non-slip rubber grip, a 3.5mm headphone jack for stereo audio output, and a detachable 3 m lightweight braided fiber cable with microUSB connector.

The product page on Razer’s website doesn’t mention wireless connectivity which means that those who pick one up will have to hook it up with a wire to their Xbox console. It’s possible that the cable is a necessary evil for Chroma.

Razer is going to release its Wolverine Ultimate Xbox controller next month with global availability slated for the fourth quarter of this year. It’s going to cost $159.99.

Samsung’s New Smartwatch Possibly One For Swimmers

Samsung confirmed yesterday that at the IFA 2017 trade show in Berlin next week, it’s going to show off a brand new smartwatch. Not much is known about a new Gear smartwatch at this point in time. Recent leaks suggest that it’s going to be called the Gear Sport. It may even have 5 ATM water resistance which means that it will be a good option for those who want to take their smartwatch swimming with them.

The Gear Sport has received its FCC and Wi-Fi certifications in recent weeks. It has since been revealed that the smartwatch will be powered by Tizen 3.0. That’s the latest version of Samsung’s homegrown operating system.

A new leak today provides us with what might possibly be our first glimpse of the Gear Sport. It appears to be some sort of an in-store promotional material for the Gear Sport. Translation of the text reveals that it’s going to have 5 ATM water resistance.

5 ATM water resistance means that the smartwatch will be good in up to 50 meters of water. That’s enough for those who want to swim with their smartwatch on. This also means that the Gear Sport might offer the ability to track swimming workouts.

Granted, all of this is speculation based on an unverified leak at this point in time, but it’s not going to be long before Samsung officially unveils this device.
