Why BMW bets on versatility over pure EVs

Behind the wheel of the BMW 330e you almost forget it’s a hybrid. Then you floor it on an uphill climb while in electric mode and the car automatically switches to the gas engine — with a warning you’ve outstripped the electric motor’s capabilities….

nuforce-be2Optoma knows that going wireless is something that many people would love to have and enjoy these days, and the NuForce BE2 wireless headphones is their exact response as to how a pair of wireless headphones should be. In fact, Optoma bucks the trend that insists on how superior sound quality is accompanied by a superior price point with the NuForce BE2. This pair of wireless Bluetooth in-ear headphones is touted to be the most affordable option yet in the BE family of premium Bluetooth, in-ear headphones, where it does not break the $50 price point, clearly making this a prime candidate for an impulse purchase for shoppers.

Available in both black and white shades, the NuForce BE2 is certainly a pair of wireless headphones that packs quite a punch, hitting far above its own weight category. It is also sweat proof, making it ideal for you to wear whenever you would like to sweat it out in the gym or pound the pavement. With a 10 hour battery life and AAC audio compatibility, making it the only model at this price point to offer the latter. The NuForce BE2 is one unique addition to the market that delivers a seamless wireless audio experience without having to break the bank.

Knowing that people tend to get a bit careless with their hardware when they travel, Optoma has ensured that the NuForce BE2 has been made to be durable in nature. The accompanying functional design has been crafted using polycarbonate and is equipped with Kevlar reinforced cables, delivering a lightweight, sturdy form factor. Apart from that, the wireless in-ear headphones will boast of magnetic earpieces, which in turn enables tangle-free listening and portability. WIRED x Super Mario Bros. Watches: It’s Mushroom Kingdom Time!

Despite the fact that I wear an Apple Watch most days, there are still times where I’d rather wear a watch with a bit more style and a good old analog dial. One of these sweet limited edition Super Mario Bros. wristwatches needs to find its way into my collection.

They come to us from Japanese watch maker WIRED (not to be confused with the magazine of the same name) and feature fun pixel art designs based on the classic 8-bit Nintendo platformer.

There are two styles available, including a black watch face with a subtle coin pattern and a silver plumber’s pipe, as well as a vibrant and colorful scene taken straight from the game’s World 1-1. They’re both pretty neat, though I prefer the more vibrant blue watch personally.

Each watch has a scene of Mario taking on King Koopa (er, Bowser) on back, along with limited edition numbering, while the crown has a star marking on it. They feature stainless steel 37mm cases, a battery-powered quartz movement, and are waterproof to 10 ATM. Hopefully, that’s enough to survive those underwater levels.

Both watches are expected to drop on September 8, 2017 for ¥18,000 (~$165 USD) each. Keep your eyes out on the WIRED website for ordering details.

Make Your Own Giant Gummy Squid!

There are lots of people out there who love the taste of squid, but I’m not one of them. I think it might be the rubbery texture that gets me, but I also don’t think it tastes like much of anything, so why bother giving my jaws the workout? On the other hand, I could get behind chomping on squid if it were made from deliciously sweet gummy candy.

With this kit from Takara Tomy A.R.T.S., you can make your own giant gummy squid. The kit comes with everything you need to make this chewy delicacy, along with two other bits of gummy marine life – a goofy looking blobfish, and one of those adorable flapjack octopi – like the one in the video below:

I’m not sure what flavor the candies are, nor if you can make them in different colors besides orange, purple, and green, but beggars can’t be choosers when it comes to gummy squid.

You can order the kit from Amazon for about $30 (USD), which includes shipping from Japan. It looks like you can get a giant gummy megamausuzame, which appears to be some kind of a shark.

VW T-Roc world premiere highlights VW’s fourth SUV, and it looks good

VW has officially unveiled its fourth SUV to the world and the vehicle is called the T-Roc. The vehicle is a compact SUV promising “expressive design style, coupé-like roof section, strikingly wide front and sportily snappy proportions.” That seems to mean a smallish SUV with four doors that looks more like a coupe, a design Nissan helped pioneer with its … Continue reading
