You Can Now Shop On Walmart Using Google Assistant

With the Amazon Echo series of smart speakers that come with the Alexa AI baked into it, it has allowed users to interact with Amazon’s various services including doing their online shopping. Now clearly Walmart, who is one of the bigger retailers in the US, isn’t going to let Amazon have all the fun and have since announced a new partnership with Google.

Basically if you shop via Walmart and have a device that has Google Assistant, like an Android phone or the Google Home, Walmart is now saying that users will actually be able to do their shopping via voice commands, so as you go through your fridge and pantry, you can use voice commands to add items to your shopping list.

Walmart has also announced that their Easy Reorder feature will be integrated into Google Express, which in turns helps to create a personalized shopping experience in which previous orders can be remembered to make it more efficient. “When it comes to voice shopping, we want to make it as easy as possible for our customers. That’s why it makes sense for us to team up with Google. They’ve made significant investments in natural language processing and artificial intelligence to deliver a powerful voice shopping experience. “

That being said, Walmart won’t be available on Google Express until late September, but for those interested you can head on over to Google’s website and sign up to be notified for when it launches.

DOOM VFR, Skyrim VR, Fallout 4 VR Release Dates Confirmed

Earlier this year during E3 2017, the folks at Bethesda announced a trio of existing IPs that would be given the virtual reality (VR) treatment. This included DOOM VFR, Skyrim VR, and Fallout 4 VR. However during the announcement, Bethesda did not confirm when these titles will be released, at least until now.

During Gamescom 2017, Bethesda officially announced the release dates of all three titles. Starting with Fallout 4 VR, a tweet by HTC has  currently set for a release on the 12th of December later this year. It is also expected to be an exclusive to the HTC Vive VR headset, so PlayStation VR or Oculus Rift gamers probably shouldn’t expect it (for now).

Next up is Skyrim VR which will be released on the 17th of November for the PlayStation VR, followed by the HTC Vive in 2018. Once again there was no mention of the Oculus Rift, so Rift owners might have to do a bit of waiting. Last but not least is DOOM VFR which is currently scheduled for a release on the 1st of December where once again it seems to be only available on the PlayStation VR and HTC Vive.

So if any of these VR titles sound like something you might be interested in, then these are dates you’ll want to mark down on your calendar.

Fallout 4 VR Will Be Launched Without Any DLCs

At E3 2017 a few months ago, Bethesda took the wraps off Fallout 4 VR which is basically a VR take on the Fallout 4 title, where it will put gamers into the shoes of the main character and allow them to experience the game in a different kind of way. The company recently confirmed that it will be released on the 12th of December, and now more details have been revealed.

According to a report from VRFocus (via UploadVR), it seems that Bethesda has announced that Fallout 4 VR will be launched without any of its DLCs. The original game has seen six DLCs released to date, but the VR version will be pretty much only the core game. In an official statement by a Bethesda spokesperson, “We are focusing on the core game experience for VR but we are looking at options to bring these add-ons in the future.”

Basically it sounds like the company just wants to focus on the core game for now, rather than worry about porting the rest of the content over. This makes sense since we’re sure that Bethesda would also like to see how well the game performs first before investing more time and resources into bringing the rest of the DLCs over into VR.

As it stands it seems that Fallout 4 VR is going to be an exclusive to the HTC Vive, so gamers on the PlayStation VR or the Oculus Rift will have to sit this one out for now.

The UK’s Royal Mail Will Be Going Green With All-Electric Vans

The idea behind electric vehicles is that it is supposed to be greener, meaning that because it doesn’t consume fuel, we reduce our need on the resource, and it also means that less pollutants are emitted. While we’re still a long ways to go from an all electric vehicle society, over in the UK they are working towards that goal.

The UK’s Royal Mail service has recently announced a partnership with Arrival in which they will be turning to the use of electric vans to help make their deliveries. At the moment only nine commercial trucks will be used and will be operating out of the Royal Mail’s central London depot, but we expect that over time more of the Royal Mail’s fleet could also be converted to electric vans.

Prior to the partnership with Arrival, the Royal Mail had also entered into an agreement with Peugeot in which they committed themselves to buying 100 all-electric vans from the company. These vans are expected to go into service this December, and the Royal Mail will also be installing charging points at delivery offices across the UK to help recharge these electric vans in between deliveries.

As Engadget points out, the Royal Mail has a fleet of 49,000 vehicles which means that the total number of electric vans that will be used represents but a fraction of the total, but we guess it’s still better than nothing.
