Samsung Possibly Has Galaxy A5 (2018) In The Pipeline

Samsung is said to be working on a successor to the Galaxy A5 (2017). The handset was launched a few months back so it’s a bit early for the company to be releasing a successor for it just yet. However, it’s likely that we might get to see the Galaxy A5 (2018) towards the end of this year or by early next year.

According to reports, the Galaxy A5 (2018) is going to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. A variant of this handset has actually been spotted on the benchmarking website Geekbench which also reveals that the handset will be running Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

It’s also possible that the Galaxy A5 (2018) might feature a dual camera system at the back. Samsung will debut its dual camera system with the Galaxy Note 8 later this week and it’s likely to bring it to its premium mid-range smartphones as well.

It remains to be seen whether the successor to the Galaxy A5 (2017) is going to get any design changes as well, that certainly remains a possibility, but Samsung is also known for not making any major design changes to some of its mid-range devices.

The company itself hasn’t said anything about this device as yet so it’s unclear when we will see the Galaxy A5 (2018) hit the market.

Intel’s New 8th Gen Core Processors Offer 40 Percent Performance Boost

Intel has officially unveiled its latest Core processor family. The company’s new 8th Gen Core processors promise to provide a 40 percent improvement in performance compared to the outgoing 7th Generation Kaby Lake processors. Aside from the 40 percent performance boost claim, Intel also claims that the new chips provide double the performance over a five-year old machine.

This has been made possible by Intel’s ability to cram four cores inside every ship which happens to be a first for Intel’s U-series. The company is also promising up to 10 hours of local 4K video playback on a single charge, highlighting that it has also made the processors more power-efficient.

Intel’s new 8th Generation U chips will be available in Core i7 and Core i6 flavors with clock speeds varying between 3.4GHz and 1.6GHz at the low end and between 4.2GHz and 1.9GHz at the high end.

The company has said that customers can expect the first batch of notebooks powered by its 8th Gen chips to hit the market by next month. Desktop models powered by its new processors will be available for purchase in the fall this year.

These aren’t Intel’s 10nm chips, though. Intel is aiming to release its first 10nm chips as part of its 8th Generation by next year.
