Xbox One X Console Controller Front Tilt Top
Microsoft’s Xbox One X represents the company’s next step up in the Xbox One console, in which it will offer gamers a more powerful machine that will help to run games at native 4K and whatnot. That’s great and all, especially for newer titles that will be released on the console, but what about older ones?
After all at the moment there are more older titles than newer ones, so what does that mean for those games? Will they be forgotten? The good news is that Microsoft will not be abandoning older titles, or at least not all of them. During Gamescom 2017, Microsoft announced that over 100 titles are expected to receive Xbox One X enhancements which means that despite them being created for the Xbox One, these enhancements will help them look better when on the Xbox One X.
According to Microsoft, “All games look and play great on Xbox One X. But select Xbox One X Enhanced titles are optimized to take full advantage of the world’s most powerful console. Xbox One X unleashes 6 teraflops of graphical processing power, making games perform better than they ever have.”
For the complete list of games that are supported, head on over to Microsoft’s website. However it should be noted that this list is not complete, meaning that there will be new titles that will receive Xbox One X enhancements in the future, so if you don’t see your favorite game on the list, worry not as there is still a chance it could receive these enhancements later.

Earlier yesterday it was reported that Microsoft might have a Minecraft version of the Xbox One S in the works. Turns out the report was true because at Gamescom 2017, Microsoft has officially taken the wraps off the Minecraft Xbox One S bundle, which is actually a limited edition bundle for collectors and fans of the Minecraft game out there.
According to Microsoft, “The Xbox One S Minecraft Limited Edition Bundle (1TB) includes a custom designed grass block console, Xbox Wireless Controller – Minecraft Creeper, Minecraft system sounds, vertical stand and transparent underside with Redstone circuit accents.” It will also come with a copy of the game and the Redstone Pack.
“This exclusive bundle also includes a full game download of Minecraft plus the Redstone Pack, a collection of unique skin packs. Available only in limited quantities, it’s a must-have for avid Minecraft players and collectors.” It is already available for pre-order for a price of $399 and will be released on the 3rd of October, 2017.
Unfortunately it will be skipping both the China and Brazilian markets, so for gamers over there you guys are out of luck. More details on the console and to pre-order, head on over to Microsoft’s website.

A lot of content you read on the internet can be read for free. This is because there are many publications out there that provide content for free and rely on ads to make their money. However with more users turning to ad blockers, making money via ads is no longer as lucrative as it once was.
This means that publishers need to start looking at alternatives, and one of them is paid subscriptions. In a report from Bloomberg, it seems that Google is currently working on creating subscription tools that publishers can use to streamline the process. Google is said to be testing these tools out with publications like the New York Times and the Financial Times, but the company is also talking to other media outlets for the future.
According to Richard Gingras, Google’s vice president for news, “It’s clear from news publishers that they can’t live on advertising alone. But it’s also clear that we’re seeing a shift in a market.” Google’s latest move is reminiscent of Facebook’s own efforts in which the company had previously announced their own plans for subscription-based services for media outlets as well.
It is unclear if Google’s efforts will work and if it will encourage readers to start paying for news, since like we said there are so many outlets on the web, so if you have to pay for one, it’s easy to find an alternative.

Amazon Cancels Free Echo Dot Orders
Posted in: Today's ChiliRecently you might have heard how Amazon accidentally made its Echo Dot speakers free on its website, and if you’re kicking yourself thinking you missed out on a great deal, you didn’t because (unsurprisingly) Amazon is cancelling orders that are taking advantage of the snafu, although they aren’t leaving customers completely empty-handed.
It seems that while Amazon is cancelling orders for the “free” Echo Dot speakers, they are giving those affected by the cancellation $5 in promotional credit, which we guess you could use towards buying the Echo Dot for yourself. However we have heard that there are some lucky few in which Amazon is honoring the orders, although we’re not sure how the company is making their selection, perhaps those who might have been the first few to actually click it?
For those hearing about this for the first time, over the weekend Amazon accidentally made its Echo Dot speakers free. Technically it wasn’t free, but it seems that during the checkout process, there was an “Audible” discount of $50 which effectively made the speaker free (since it costs $50 as well).
Amazon has yet to comment on it but presumably it was a glitch with the system. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen company glitches like this, and to their credit, we have seen some companies honor some purchases in the past as well.

If you were to talk on the phone while you drive and you get into an accident, whose fault would it be? The logical answer would be you, the driver, because you know that you’re not supposed to be talking and driving at the same time, and that’s pretty much what Apple is insisting as they recently appeared in the Los Angeles Superior Court last Thursday.
The company appeared in court to defend themselves against claims that they might be to blame for driving accidents while using the iPhone. This is in response to a class-action lawsuit brought about by Julio Ceja who accused Apple of placing profit ahead of consumer safety by not implementing a mechanism that would lock out drivers and/or disable the iPhone while in the car to prevent it from being used.
Prior to this, Ceja claims to have been in a vehicular accident where the driver of a vehicle hit his because the other driver was texting on their iPhone. This is actually not the first time that Apple has been accused of this, although in the previous cases the company has prevailed, where the judge in a previous case claimed that it is the driver’s decision to operate their vehicle negligently, and gave an example of how driving home drunk and getting into an accident is no more the fault of the company who sold the alcohol.

Out of all the virtual reality (VR) headsets available in the market today, the HTC Vive is the most expensive of the bunch where it retailed for $800. Given that it is new technology, we suppose it is understandable that it is pricey, but at the same time the price tag also meant that it isn’t as accessible to gamers who might be on a budget.
However the good news is that if the HTC Vive is a VR headset that you’ve been eyeing but the price has deterred you, it looks like HTC will be giving the headset a permanent $200 discount which means that it will retail for $600 instead of $800. That being said despite the $200 price cut, the HTC Vive is still more expensive than the competition out there.
Facebook’s Oculus Rift has also recently received a price cut of its own of $100 where it is now retailing for $500 instead of $600. It is still a lot of money but by shaving off a couple of hundred bucks, HTC should be able to draw in more customers who might have been a bit put off with the hefty price tag from before.
According to HTC’s Viveport president and VR SVP Rikard Steiber, he admitted that the HTC Vive had yet to breakthrough to mainstream audiences yet, and that price was one of the reasons. “We need to make this more affordable for the mass market,” Steiber was quoted as telling Variety. Perhaps with this discount, that reality will indeed come true for the company.

As fun and convenient it is to game on a desktop PC, sometimes we are required to travel, or our living situations don’t really have enough space for a desktop PC, which is where gaming laptops come in handy. There are many gaming laptops out there today and if you’re in the market for a new laptop, Acer might have something for you.
Acer has recently taken the wraps off its latest gaming laptop in the form of the Acer Nitro 5 Spin 2-in-1. As the name suggests, this is a hybrid laptop in which thanks to its hinges, will allow users to flip the screen around where it can sort of double up as a tablet or a display, depending on what you need it for.
The best part is that under the hood, the Nitro 5 Spin is packing some serious hardware which will allow gamers to play games on the go. The specs we are looking at includes a 15.6-inch Full HD display, the use of an Intel 8th gen Core processor, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GPU, and support for up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.
It probably isn’t the most powerful gaming laptop we’ve seen out there, but given its specs and its asking price of $1,000, it isn’t outrageously expensive compared to some of the competition, which should make it a tad more accessible for those who want a gaming laptop but don’t want to spend thousands.

While the developed world has access to powerful handsets like Google’s Nexus and Pixel lineup, unfortunately the prices of these devices keeps them out of reach for customers in emerging markets, which is why Google has created its Android One series of smartphones designed to bring the Android experience in a more affordable package.
We have seen Google work with various companies in the past to create Android One phones, but in a report from Indonesian website Krispitech (via Ausdroid), Google could have a new Android One manufacturing partner in the form of Xiaomi. The report claims that the phone will be based on the Xiaomi Mi 5X, although we’re not sure what will be changed other than the rumored addition of dual cameras, which is an interesting feature especially for phones designed for the emerging market which tends to be more simple and basic.
Xiaomi themselves have been known to create budget Android phones in the past, especially for markets in China and other parts of Asia, so for them to work with Google to create Android One phones doesn’t really seem like a stretch of the imagination. Of course you should take this with a grain of salt for now since nothing has been confirmed yet, although given the launch of Android One phones, we probably won’t be seeing them stateside anytime soon either.

There are various reasons why it’s a good idea to go for official repairs. For example official repairs tend to use official parts, meaning that they’re more or less guaranteed to work. They also come with official warranty so in the event that something goes wrong, they know what to do or at least can offer a replacement.
It also seems that with official repairs, there is no need to worry about your phone’s being hacked. In a paper put together by researchers at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, it seems that they have raised concerns about how going to third-party repair shops could lend itself to the possibility that your devices could be hijacked from a relatively simple procedure of replacing a cracked screen.
Basically these shops could embed a malicious integrated chip within the touchscreen display and from there record keyboard inputs and even direct users towards phishing websites. The researchers successfully tested out this form of attack using the Nexus 6P and the LG G Pad 7.0 devices.
What’s scary is the fact that these screens could be made to look like the real thing, meaning that the repair shop could be unaware that the screens they’re replacing could contain the malicious chip, or an intercepted shipment sent to official stores could also be affected. Also because this attack is file-less, security scanning apps won’t be able to detect anything wrong as well.
