Sprint To Address BlackBerry KEYone Bloatware Bug

Carriers usually have a very bad habit of loading their phones up with apps, also known as bloatware. We suppose that for the most part, the intentions are good in which these apps are designed to provide certain services to users right out of the box, but usually people already know what they want to use, so these apps are really just taking up space.

Usually these apps can be deleted, but for some reason the BlackBerry KEYone from Sprint is presenting its users with a problem, and that is the bloatware that is deleted on the phone is somehow reinstalling itself. The good news is that according to Sprint, this is completely unintentional and is a bug that they plan to fix in an upcoming update.

Sprint claims that the issue lies with the SprintID app, which pushes third-party apps to devices when it is activated for the first time. However the app seems to be running every few hours, which means that it keep checking for the apps every few hours and if you have deleted one of the bloatware apps, the check forces it to reinstall itself.

Sprint claims that an incoming update will address the problem, but in the meantime uninstalling updates from the BlackBerry Launcher is said to offer a workaround for now. Alternatively you can just leave the apps as it is and delete them once the update has been issued.

Valve Trying To Curb Steam Games From Being Sold Outside Of Steam

how to family share on steamValve’s Steam platform plays host to many games, and while some might consider Valve almost monopolizing the market, at the same time one could argue that Steam does help keep things in one place, and also provides a platform for friends to play together, review games, and so on. However Valve does have a problem, which is that some developers are selling Steam games outside of Steam.

While developers do have the right to sell their own games on other platforms, Valve is taking issue with developers selling games with Steam access outside of Steam, and to combat that, Valve will no longer be automatically fulfilling key requests from developers, which hopefully should curb these activities.

In a post made by Valve employee Sean Jenkin, “If we are denying keys for normal size batches it’s likely because your Steam sales don’t reflect a need for as many keys as you’re distributing, and you’re probably asking for more keys because you’re offering cheaper options off Steam and yet we are bearing the costs. So at some point we start deciding that the value you’re bringing to Steam isn’t worth the cost to us.”

Basically what some developers are doing is they are taking Steam keys and selling those on other websites, such as bundle websites at a cheaper price, and where Valve does not get a cut, which clearly the company isn’t too happy about. While this clearly affects developers, on the consumer front it seems to imply that perhaps we can expect fewer bundles/bargains from third-party websites in the future.

Overwatch For Consoles To Get Reporting Feature In Next Patch

If there was one feature that was missing from the console version of Overwatch that was present on the PC version, it is the player reporting feature. In case it wasn’t obvious, player reporting is where players can report other players for bad behavior, like suspected cheating/hacking, profanity, being a troll, harassment, and so on.

Blizzard has in the past stated that they do plan to bring the feature onto consoles, and it looks like console players won’t have to wait much longer. In a post on the Blizzard forums, Overwatch’s director Jeff Kaplan confirmed that the next patch for the game will enable the feature for consoles.

According to Kaplan, “Reporting on console will be available when patch 1.14 goes live (the patch that has DM and TDM and is currently on the PTR for testing). Thanks for being so patient with us.” He also notes that the way reporting and punishments work is still something that is constantly in development, and is expected to keep changing while adapting to the behaviors of players.

He writes, “We are working on increased punishments for high frequency offenders, email notifications when your reports result in disciplinary action (we’re experimenting with this right now and we’ll expand this as we refine it) and eventually notifications in the game client when your report results in disciplinary action.”

Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite Story Trailer Released

It has been a while since we last saw a Marvel VS Capcom mashup, which is why it is understandable that gamers are pretty excited by the next installment, which is Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite. Capcom is certainly doing their best to hype the launch and have since launched a new story trailer for the game.

The trailer features a bunch of new playable characters in the game which includes Jedah, Dormammu, Firebrand and Ghost Rider, which was announced not too long ago. However it seems that based on the comments on the trailer, quite a few people don’t seem to be too thrilled with the graphics of the game, in which the consensus seems to be that it feels a bit outdated and meant more for older platforms like the Gamecube or the Xbox 360.

However we suppose at the end of the day it’s the gameplay that matters, which gamers will be able to find out for themselves come 19th of September when the game is finally released. According to Capcom, there will be a total of 30 characters available at the launch of the game, but they’re not stopping there as there will be additional characters that will be revealed in the future post-launch.
