Chase The 2017 Solar Eclipse Live With Twitter

Twitter has been working hard to make a name for itself in the online streaming space. It has hosted streams for everything from presidential debates to red carpets at Hollywood award shows. The company has now teamed up with The Weather Channel to allow its users to chase the 2017 solar eclipse live. There’s going to be a live stream on Twitter which will enable viewers to watch the eclipse.

Twitter isn’t the only company that will be streaming the eclipse online. CNN and NASA will both be offering their own streams. Twitter is taking a slightly different approach to the stream.

The live stream that it has set up in partnership with The Weather Channel is going to track the solar eclipse across the United States. Sun chasers from The Weather Channel will make stops at 10 locations across the country, including Stanley, Idaho; Hopkinsville, Kentucky; McMinnville, Oregon; and Nashville, Tennessee.

The live stream is going to incorporate drone footage, hyperlocal footage, live updates from watch groups, game shows, and even a Red Bull Cliff Diving showdown. Tweets will randomly be displayed throughout the stream.

Twitter users across the globe will be able to tune into this unique live stream of the 2017 solar eclipse starting 12:00 pm ET on August 21st. Those who want a more conventional viewing experience can catch CNN’s live stream of the eclipse online.

iOS 11 ‘Cop Button’ Will Temporarily Disable Touch ID

The next major platform update for Apple’s mobile devices will bring an easy way to quickly disable the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. This new setting has been designed to automate calls to emergency services. It enables iPhone users to tap the power button five times in succession to call 911. The option doesn’t automatically dial the emergency services by default but provides the user with the option to and it also disables the Touch ID fingerprint sensor temporarily until the passcode is entered.

This feature is referred to as the “cop button” and it was first discovered by Twitter users in the latest iOS 11 public beta. The only way the Touch ID sensor could be temporarily disabled previously was by restarting the iPhone then waiting for a few days until the device automatically prompted for the passcode and then use different fingers to force the handset to lock out.

This new feature that Apple has built into iOS 11 offers a more discrete way of locking out an iPhone. This will be particularly useful in situations when a user is worried that someone might force them to unlock their iPhone by using the fingerprint sensor.

The iOS 11 public beta is open for those who are curious about the new platform update and want to test it out. Apple hasn’t confirmed at this point in time when it’s going to roll out iOS 11 for all supported devices. The company is expected to release iOS 11 in September.

Biggest Xbox One X Launch Title Delayed

Microsoft will soon release the most powerful console it has ever built, the Xbox One X. It confirmed the launch titles for this console a couple of months back but the company has now revealed that the biggest Xbox One X launch title isn’t going to be ready in time. That’s why it’s going to have to delay the release of Crackdown 3 to 2018.

The open-world action game that was supposed to be released this year will now come out in 2018. Crackdown 3 was due for release alongside the Xbox One X on November 7th, 2017.

The company has now confirmed that it will not be released until the spring of next year. This means that the Xbox One X will be without a major Xbox-exclusive launch title which it comes out this November.

Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis says that it’s a difficult call to push the release date for Crackdown 3 back, but in the interest of delivering the right game with the right quality and at the right time, the decision has been made to delay Crackdown 3’s release.

Loftis says that part of the additional time is going to be used to improve the game’s “visual polish.” Fans of the franchise who have been looking forward to picking up this game alongside Microsoft’s most powerful gaming console won’t be happy about it.

It’s up to the company now to ensure that the additional time it has taken is well spent and the final product exceeds expectations or else it would have all been for nothing.
