The Nokia 8 smartphone has been rumored about for a while now and it is said to be the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone for 2017. The good news is that if you were looking forward to a flagship Nokia phone, HMD Global has officially taken the wraps off the Nokia 8 Android smartphone.
Just like the rumors have suggested, the Nokia 8 comes packed with the latest specs which includes the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. It will also be accompanied by 4GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, a 5.3-inch QHD display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 screen, and a sizeable 3,090mAh battery that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
As for the camera, it looks like we can look forward to seeing Carl Zeiss optics in Nokia phones again, especially after the report that HMD and Carl Zeiss had entered into a partnership similar to what Nokia and Carl Zeiss did back in the day. The result is a smartphone with dual 13MP cameras on the back, one which captures in color with OIS, while the other captures in mono. The front-facing camera will also be of the 13MP variety with phase detection autofocus.
It also seems that the Nokia 8 will come with improved audio technology thanks to the use of Nokia’s OZO audio technology. This will see the phone come equipped with three microphones that rely on the acoustic algorithms of OZO to capture audio with immersive 360-degree spatial surround sound. The Nokia 8 will be available for purchase in September where it will be priced at €599 and will come in four different color options.

According to Google, one in five Americans suffer from seasonal allergies, which can be incredibly annoying and not to mention very inconvenient when you are trying to get things done. While Google probably can’t dispense you medicine or create a cure for your allergies, the next best thing they can do is probably help you plan your day.
Google has announced that they will now be including pollen forecasts in search results when you search for it, similar to how you would search for the weather, searching for answers to mathematical problems, search for movie release dates, and so on. According to Google, “To make the most up-to-date and accurate information available, we’ve worked with The Weather Channel to integrate their pollen index and forecast data information directly into Google.”
Google also says that users can turn on reminders so that if and when the pollen count in your area is particularly high, you can be notified about that as well. “In addition, when the pollen count in your area is particularly high, you can receive reminders in the Google app. To opt in to these notifications, just search for pollen levels, pollen forecast or a similar query on Google, then tap “turn on” when prompted.”
The feature should already be live so if you do suffer from pollen allergies, then this could be a rather efficient way of dealing with it and planning your day and week.

Apple’s walled garden approach usually means that third-party support isn’t quite as available compared to other companies, and if you were hoping that this year would be the year that Apple finally introduces support for Android devices for the Apple Watch, then prepare to be disappointed because it does not look like that is the case.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it seems that Android users should not expect Apple to support Android with the Apple Watch this year. Kuo claims the difficulty in creating a good experience between Android and watchOS, which is why Apple could be holding off from releasing support for Android devices this year, although right now it is unclear if and when Android support will ever arrive.
Kuo also states that the Apple Watch with LTE will rely on an eSIM, which is in line with what we’ve heard previously, and it shouldn’t be surprising given that eSIMs are smaller than a regular SIM card, plus Apple has done it already with the iPad in the past, so this move is kind of expected.
However Kuo disagrees with rumors suggesting that the LTE Apple Watch could support voice calls. He claims that Apple wants to improve on the data transmission of the Apple Watch for a better user experience before enabling the feature. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but the new Apple Watch is expected to be announced next month alongside the new iPhone 8, so check back with us then for the details.

Following the events in Charlottesville, it seems that Apple has decided to take a stand and according to a report from BuzzFeed News, the Cupertino company has pulled support for Apple Pay from hate websites, such as websites belonging to white nationalists and hate groups who might be selling paraphernalia on their websites.
However this move shouldn’t be too surprising. While Apple did not comment on the removal of support, a company spokesperson did point BuzzFeed News towards Apple’s guidelines for using Apple Pay, which basically forbids the integration of Apple Pay into websites that “promotes hate, violence, or intolerance based on race, age, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.”
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has also publicly spoken about the events on Twitter where he wrote, “We’ve seen the terror of white supremacy & racist violence before,” Cook wrote. “It’s a moral issue – an affront to America. We must all stand against it.” Cook also posted a separate tweet condemning the violence at Charlottesville, “Heartbreaking scenes in #Charlottesville. Violence and racism have no place in America.”
Apple isn’t alone in their removal of support for services as other payment providers, such as PayPal, have said that they are working towards blocking “sites that accept payments or raise funds to promote hate, violence and intolerance.”

Hate groups in general are not tolerated, and we have seen many instances in the past where tech companies have made moves to shut down or prevent such communities from using their products or services, and it looks like Spotify is also not tolerating hate on its music streaming platform.
In a report from Billboard, Spotify has recently announced that they have removed a bunch of music from its platform that promotes hate. These musical acts have been flagged as a “hate band” by the Southern Poverty Law Center three years ago, and it looks like they will have to turn to other platforms if they want to continue making money from their music.
It seems like these groups were brought to Spotify’s attention by Digital Music News who posted a report titled, “I Just Found 27 White Supremacist Hate bands On Spotify.” According to Spotify, they claim that record companies and aggregators are “first hand responsible” for the content they upload, but they will take action as soon as it is brought to their attention.
In a statement provided by a Spotify spokeswoman, “Spotify takes immediate action to remove any such material as soon as it has been brought to our attention. We are glad to have been alerted to this content – and have already removed many of the bands identified today, whilst urgently reviewing the remainder.” This move is in line with what other tech companies are also doing, such as Apple and PayPal who have moved to remove support of their services from hate websites.
