New ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ episodes leaked for download by hacker

Remember the big HBO hack? The latest one, that is. The company just suffered another blow as the hacker has leaked new Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes online, making them available for anyone to download. That’s a big problem for HBO, which announced last year that it would be reviving the beloved series. The new show hasn’t yet premiered on the … Continue reading

DJI adds an offline mode to its drones for clients with ‘sensitive operations’

DJI is working on a “local data mode” for its apps that prevents any data from being sent to or received from the internet. The feature will be welcomed by many, but it’s hard not to attribute the timing and urgency of the announcement to the recent ban of DJI gear by the U.S. Army over unspecified “cyber vulnerabilities.” Read More

New iPhone 8 Color Rumored To Be Called ‘Blush Gold’

Apple’s new iPhone 8 is expected to be launched next month, assuming Apple keeps to schedule, and we’re sure that some are probably wondering about the color options that will be available for the phone. So far leaked photos have all suggested that black is a potential (and obvious) option, but what are the rest?

According to the rumors, we have heard that the iPhone 8 will come in three different finishes: black, white, and a copper gold, which according to a recent tweet by Benjamin Geskin (via 9to5Mac) will apparently be known as “blush gold”. This gold finish does appear to be different from what previous iPhones look like, although we’re not sure if the actual name will be blush gold or if it could be called something else entirely.

This is based on images that were leaked not too long ago that showed off a dummy iPhone 8 unit in that particular finish. It seems that Apple will not be providing as many color options for the iPhone 8 unlike previous models, but perhaps they’re trying to keep things simple and potentially make them stand out  from the other iPhone models that are expected to launch alongside it, such as the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus.

EA To Bring More Games Onto The Switch If FIFA 18 Does Well

The Nintendo Switch has a fair number of games at the moment, and so far it seems like Nintendo has managed to land themselves some pretty decent titles as well, but of course having big publishers and developers create game for the Switch is always a welcome prospect, and that could soon be the case with EA.

In a recent interview with EDGE, EA”s executive vice president Patrick Soderlund suggested that the publisher could be thinking of bringing more games from EA’s catalogue onto the Switch, although it seems that this will largely hinge on how well FIFA 18 does on the platform, which is expected to be released towards the end of next month.

According to Soderlund, he states that EA would love to support the Switch and help Nintendo grow their base, but he also adds that as resources are finite, EA has to be smart about how they use it. “But at the same time we have to look at it from a resource standpoint and, at some point, the numbers become a factor.”

“So for us it’s about supporting the platform, building technology for the platform, testing it out with big things like FIFA – and maybe a couple of others, we’ll see – and if they go well, I see no reason why we shouldn’t have as much of our portfolio on that platform as possible. I hope we get there, that would be my personal ambition.” This isn’t the first time that EA has expressed their interest in the Switch, but whether or not the future will entail more big name EA titles arriving onto the console remains to be seen.

New Nikon D850 Photo Leaked

If you’re a photographer who is in the market for a new professional DSLR, or a hobbyist looking for more “serious” gear, then you might have heard that Nikon has a new camera in the works in the form of the Nikon D850, which the company has confirmed is real and does exist, although specs and design remain a bit of a mystery for now.

However thanks to images uploaded and shared on the digicamera.net forums (via Nikon Rumors) by user Hel_NiS, a p photo of the camera has found its way online. Unfortunately this photo does not show us the complete look of the camera, but for the most part it doesn’t look like Nikon will be changing the design of the camera too much.

The front and top portion of the camera where the Nikon branding is placed also seems to confirm that there will be no pop-up flash, but other than that we guess it shouldn’t be surprising that Nikon is sticking to the same design (maybe with some changes or variations) that they’ve been using for the past few years.

The D850 will be a new full-frame camera by Nikon and it is expected to introduce a 46MP sensor along with 4K video capture. It is also said to sport some features borrowed from the Nikon D5, and the rumored prices have hinted that this camera will not come cheap, but hopefully we’ll have the official details soon.

Algorithm Determines How Much Privacy You Give Away When Clicking Links

Have you ever clicked on something on a platform like Facebook or Amazon and then been offered suggested links that are similar to what you just clicked? In a way it sounds pretty good as this can sometimes help you get more information about something you’re reading, or finding a complementary product, and so on.

However at the same time it seems that everytime you click on a suggested link, you could be giving away more of your privacy than you would like. This is according to a researcher at EPFL by the name of Mahsa Taziki who has developed an algorithm that can calculate how much information you are revealing about yourself whenever a link is clicked.

According to Taziki, “80% of the clicks provide a utility-privacy tradeoff for the users. Some clicks are very useful and don’t compromise your privacy, while others are just the opposite. My objective is to compute accurately the utility and privacy effects of the user’s clicks. The users can decide what to click on, and the service providers can also use it to improve the experience of their users.”

In a way you can think of this system as being similar to how browsers like Chrome will warn you when you’re about to visit a potentially dangerous website. The system is still being developed and there are plans to eventually turn it into an extension that can warn users when a website is being too liberal with their personal information.

HTC U11 To Get Bluetooth 5.0 With Android O Update

Recently there were reports to suggest that the HTC U11 could be getting an update to its firmware that would give the phone Bluetooth 5.0 capabilities. It turns out the rumors were true after all because HTC has since confirmed this themselves in a post on their website, where they promised that Bluetooth 5.0 functionality would be coming to the phone.

However according to HTC’s website, it seems that Bluetooth 5.0 will only be arriving as part of the update to Android 8.0 O. At the moment there is no confirmation as to when Android O will be released, or for that matter, when will HTC push the update out to its phones like the HTC U11.

For all we know it could be by the end of the year, or maybe even early 2018. According to HTC, “When Android O, the next version of the Android OS becomes available, HTC U11 owners all over the world will be able to enjoy the benefits of Bluetooth 5.0. We’re excited to be able to bring this announcement to HTC U11 customers around the world as we strive to continuously improve our customers’ mobile experience—we believe Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility helps do that.”

However it is still good news all the same and we guess we’ll just have to wait and see when Android O for the HTC U11 will be released.
