New Moto X4 Specs Leaked

We first heard about the new Moto X4 a couple of months back. It was reported then that the Lenovo-owned company had yet another mid-range handset in the pipeline. It hasn’t updated the Moto X lineup since 2015 so it will be interesting to see what it comes up with now. Details about the new Moto X4 have been leaked in a new report.

The report claims that the Moto X4 is going to feature a 5.2 inch full HD display and will measure 148.35 x 73.4 x 7.99 mm while weighing 163 grams. Motorola is expected to launch four global variants of this handset.

All four models are reportedly going to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor with Adreno 508 GPU and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage in Europe, North America, and Latin America. The handset is said to feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage in the Asia Pacific region.

Aside from the 16 megapixel front camera, there’s reportedly going to be a dual camera at the back with a 12 megapixel main sensor and an 8 megapixel ultra-wide secondary sensor. A dual-LED flash and Phase Detection Autofocus are said to be onboard.

Keeping the lights on will be a 3,000mAh battery with support for Motorola’s TurboCharging feature. The Moto X4 is said to be IP68 dust and water resistant.

It’s unclear at this point in time when Motorola is planning to launch this handset and how much it’s going to cost.

Essential To Host A ‘First Look’ Event On August 25th

Essential, Android co-founder Andy Rubin’s new smartphone company, has sent out invitations to a “first look” event which will take place on August 25th. It appears that the nascent smartphone company is inviting a select group of people to come in and play around with the much-awaited handset. The event will be conducted after Essential confirms when it’s finally going to release the Essential Phone.

Essential has missed the deadline it imposed on itself for the release of the Essential Phone. Production is in full swing these days and Rubin says that the company will confirm the actual release date by next week.

The Essential Phone is the very first smartphone that this company has unveiled. It’s a flagship-level smartphone that can hold its own against the best of them. Essential will sell it directly to customers unlocked and off-contract. Sprint has been selected as the sole carrier partner for the Essential Phone in the United States.

Essential’s “First Look Event” takes place in West Hollywood. It’s an invite-only event and from the looks of it, the company is going to provide a select group of people their first chance to play with the Essential Phone and 360 Camera.

As for when the handset will actually be released, we’ll have to wait until next week to find that out for sure.

Samsung Galaxy C5, Galaxy C7 And Galaxy C9 Pro Nougat Update Enters Testing

Samsung has now started rolling out the much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update for its mid-range and premium mid-range smartphones. It’s now testing the updates for devices that have yet to receive the jump to Nougat. The Galaxy C5, Galaxy C7, and Galaxy C9 Pro are three of the devices on that list. According to a new report, Samsung has now started testing the Nougat firmware update for the Galaxy C5, Galaxy C7, and Galaxy C9 Pro.

Samsung first released the Galaxy C series in China only. All three aforementioned handsets were limited to the Chinese market. That has changed over the past few months as Samsung has released the Galaxy C5, Galaxy C7, and Galaxy C9 Pro in more markets across the globe.

The Android 7.0 update for these devices will bring everything that’s included as part of the Nougat firmware update. This includes more granular app permissions, enhanced notifications, new set of emoji as well as countless bug fixes and optimizations.

The report out of China only claims that Samsung has started testing the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy C5, Galaxy C7, and Galaxy C9. It’s not known for sure right now when the testing process will be completed and when the company will start rolling it out for the aforementioned devices.

LG V30 Plus May Be Announced Alongside LG V30

The LG V30 is confirmed for an unveiling later this month. LG has already sent out invites to the press which hint that a new smartphone is going to be unveiled on August 31st. The information available so far suggests that it’s going to be the LG V30 and that the new handset will be quite different from its predecessor. It’s also claimed that at its launch, the LG V30 is going to be accompanied by an LG V30 Plus.

The changes that the LG V30 Plus is expected to tout include a greater number of storage and some division of features. For example, the conventional LG V30 is expected to feature 64GB of storage whereas the V30 Plus will reportedly have support for 128GB of storage.

Features like Hi-Fi audio and wireless charging might be split between the two variants. Other than the changes mentioned above, the LG V30 and V30 Plus are said to be the same in every other aspect.

This means that both devices will have the same 6 inch OLED display and same metal body. They will be powered by the Snapdragon 830 processor with 6GB RAM.

It’s unclear if LG is going to release the variant with 128GB of internal storage in a wide range of markets across the globe. The report suggests that there’s a possibility that LG might only sell this variant in South Korea only but there’s hasn’t been a confirmation from the company on any of this as yet.

Survey Shows Not A Lot Of People Will Pay $1000 For A New iPhone

There have been countless reports claiming that the iPhone 8 is going to be the most expensive iPhone ever from Apple. Some expect that Apple is going to charge $1000 or more for the handset. Will customers be willing to pay that much for an iPhone? If a new report is to be believed, not a lot of customers will pay $1000 or more for Apple’s next flagship smartphone.

Barclay’s has conducted a new survey which it references in a recent investor note. Its survey found that just 11 percent of the respondents were willing to spend more than $1000 on an iPhone. The most amount of money the respondents were willing to spend on the iPhone was $582 which works out to $48.50 per month for 12 months.

A similar survey conducted with existing iPhone owners revealed a slightly more favorable result for Apple. 18 percent of those who own an iPhone today said that they were willing to spend more than $1000 on an iPhone.

It’s far from confirmed right now that the iPhone 8 is going to cost more than $1000 but the rumor mill seems to be convinced that this is going to be the case.If that really is the case, Apple will really push the iPhone Upgrade Plan to get existing customers to upgrade.

Under the iPhone Upgrade plan, customers continue to make a monthly payment over 12 months and have the ability to trade-in their existing device to get the latest model.

Apple is due to unveil its new iPhones in a month or so.
