Titanfall: Assault Has Launched On Mobile Devices

If you’re a fan of the Titanfall franchise, you might be interested to learn that Titanfall will now be playable on your mobile device, or at least in a sense as Titanfall: Assault has since been launched for iOS and Android devices. However unlike the original Titanfall, Assault will be a different game.

Instead of it being a shooter, it seems that Titanfall: Assault will be more of an RTS kind of game, but it will be based on the Titanfall series of games. According to the description on its website, “Put your combat skills to the test by unleashing a powerful arsenal of Titans and Pilots, including units from Titanfall 2 plus brand new specialized units only for the mobile game. Deploy Sim Ninja, Boomer, Ion, Scorch and more onto the battlefield to fight for control of the Frontier. Collect and upgrade dozens of cards including tactical Burn Cards, which provide powerful support.”

Players can play with other players, form or join guilds, play with friends, and so on. It is an interesting take on the franchise but whether or not it will be successful remains to be seen (the trailer does make it seem pretty fun). The game is developed by Nexon as part of a deal with Respawn where we can expect to see more mobile titles based on Titanfall released in the future.

The game is free to play but there will be in-app purchases, so take that into consideration if you are thinking of getting your hands on it. It is available for download via the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

Fashion Retailer ASOS Now Lets You Search Using Photos

The thing about shopping online for clothing/fashion is that it can be hard to find the exact same item in a store that you saw in real life, which means more often than not you will spend hours trying to track that item down (unless you happen to know the name of it). However that’s where image search comes in handy, and something that ASOS is introducing to its store.

ASOS has recently announced that they will be introducing a new visual search tool to its mobile app, meaning that users who are searching an item in particular can do so by uploading a photo of said item, and the search will try to find something in the store that is an exact match or something that comes close enough.

So why mobile first and not desktop? According to the company, they claim that 80% of its traffic in the UK comes from mobile devices, which means that clearly a lot of people seem to be doing their browsing and shopping while on their phones, so focusing the tool on mobile makes sense.

ASOS is definitely not the first company to offer visual search. Earlier this year Pinterest rolled out its Lens feature to its users to let them search for items on its website based on the photo they uploaded.

Samsung’s Bixby Voice Could Be Getting Ready For A Global Launch

We’re sure that many Samsung fans were a little incredulous that when the Galaxy S8 and S8+ launched, one of its key features which was Bixby Voice was not available. Even now the feature isn’t widely available as it was only not too long ago that Samsung finally rolled it out to users in the US and South Korea.

However could Samsung be preparing to launch Bixby Voice on a global scale? It is possible, especially thanks to a recent sighting of the Samsung Contacts app which as you can see in the screenshot to the right, mentions at the bottom that apparently Bixby Voice is getting ready for a global launch.

Note that it says Bixby English which means that it will only work with the English language for now, meaning that if you do not speak English as your main language then this might not be so useful for you. We have heard rumors in the past that Samsung has apparently been struggling trying to get more languages to work with Bixby Voice, hence the delayed roll out.

In any case we’re not sure how accurate this screenshot is or whether the caption was written by accident or means something else, so don’t get your hopes up just yet. However with the Galaxy Note 8 set for a launch later this month, we’re pretty sure Samsung will want to ensure that it launches with all of its features intact, which includes Bixby Voice.

HTC U11 In Taiwan Receiving 1080p @ 60fps Video Update

We’re not sure why in today’s day and age that the HTC U11 was launched with a camera that was only capable of capturing Full HD 1080p footage at 30fps. Considering that many phones these days offer at least 60fps (and with the iPhone 8 rumored to allow 4K @ 60fps), it does seem strange.

However this is a problem that HTC is looking to rectify as you might have heard the company recently announced an update that would fix it. There was no specific release date except to say that it will be released over the course of the next few months, but hopefully HTC U11 won’t have to wait too long because according to reports, the HTC U11 handsets in Taiwan are already receiving the update.

We’re not sure which region HTC is expected to move onto next, but the rollout in Taiwan does signal that the update is on its way, so hopefully it will take weeks and not months. That being said, 30fps is a perfectly fine frame rate to be recording at, but like we said with many smartphones already offering a buttery smooth 60fps, it does seem odd that HTC missed it, but we guess better late than never, right?
