iPhone 8 Launch Now Rumored For November

The rumor mill can’t seem to make up its mind about the iPhone 8 launch. It was previously reported that the launch of Apple’s next-generation iPhone had been delayed to October. We then heard that Apple was going to launch it on time next month. Today, a new rumor suggests that the iPhone 8 will now be officially announced by Apple in November.

The rumor is based on the comments from an alleged Apple component supplier based in South Korea who claims that Apple has decided to delay the iPhone 8 launch to November.

The company has apparently made this decision because of an unfinished design and some technical issues. It’s claimed that Apple is yet to finalize the iPhone 8’s rear design. The supplier is still waiting for Apple’s final decision before it can start supplying the parts.

However, the rumor claims that Apple is going to unveil its two iPhone 7s models on time in September. While previous reports suggested that the iPhone 8 will be launched alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, the latest rumor claims that this will not be the case.

None of the above has been officially confirmed by Apple so as always, take this information with a grain of salt.

Dropbox Adds Mobile Prompts For Two-Step Verification

It’s never an ideal scenario when you’re locked out of an online account. It can prove to be a major frustration when you absolutely need to gain access to that account in order to finish your work on time. Since many find it difficult to keep track of emergency backup codes or can’t sometimes reliably receive text messages, Dropbox has developed a new solution to ensure that users can swiftly regain access to their locked accounts.

The new solution developed by Dropbox can be used as a backup in situations where it’s not possible to receive a text message or use a two-factor authentication code generator or a U2F security key.

Starting today, the Dropbox mobile app can be used to verify a user’s identity. When signing in, a notification can be sent to the Dropbox app on the user’s phone and they just have to tap a button to finish the sign in process. This eliminates the need to receive a text message and manually enter a code.

Mobile prompts prove to be particularly helpful as a backup option when there’s no cell signal but Wi-Fi is available. This will prove to be useful on airplanes as well where security codes can’t be received by text message but Wi-Fi functionality is there.

Users can access mobile prompts for two-step verification by clicking on the “Having trouble getting a code?” link after they enter their email and password on dropbox.com.

Mobile prompts with two-step verification work on iOS and Android.

Directly Publish Xbox One Games Starting Today With Xbox Live Creators Program

Microsoft confirmed its Xbox Live Creators Program several months back. The program will enable developers to directly publish games to the Xbox One or Windows 10 PCs. Game developers can do that starting today as the company has officially launched the Xbox Live Creators Program. The first self-published games are also available starting today.

They are listed in a special section on the Xbox Store titled “Creators collection.” Only nine self-published games are available in the Creators collection as of now but it goes without saying that the list will grow as more developers publish their indie games on their own for Xbox One and Windows 10.

The certification process for Creators collection games has been simplified and developers no longer require any concept approval. However, this means that the indie games submitted as part of this program will usually not be of the same standard as the ID@Xbox or regular Xbox games.

Microsoft has confirmed that Creators collection games will not have access to Gamerscore, Achievements, and Xbox Live multiplayer. Developers that want these features for these titles will have to move to the ID@Xbox program which a program meant to aid small studios that are developing games for the platform.

The indie games developed as part of the Xbox Live Creators Program can be created and published using retail Xbox One consoles. Developers have to create titles as Universal Windows Apps so that they can run on Windows 10 as well.
