Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) Nougat Update Released

Samsung released the new Galaxy A (2017) series earlier this year, months after Google released Android 7.0 Nougat. However, since the company wanted the Galaxy S8 to be its first smartphone to come with Nougat out of the box, it launched the Galaxy A (2017) handsets with Marshmallow. The company has now started rolling out the Galaxy A7 (2017) Nougat update, finally.

It was reported last month that the Galaxy A7 (2017) running Android 7.0 Nougat had received its Wi-Fi certification. This is normally a good indication that an impending update is about to be rolled out in the near future.

Samsung has now started rolling out the much-awaited Nougat update for the Galaxy A7 (2017). The update has only been released in Thailand so far but it’s only a matter of time now before it’s released in other markets across the globe.

Since this is a major Android platform update, the file weighs in at 1.4GB, but that’s not surprising at all. It brings all of the features that are part and parcel of Nougat, including a revamped user interface.

Customers in markets where carrier-locked variants of this smartphone are sold will have to wait for a bit longer since carriers tend to hold up firmware releases due to their own checks and tweaks.

New Nissan Leaf May Be $5,000 Cheaper Than Tesla Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 is the first mass-market electric car from Tesla but it’s not the only electric car on the market that costs under $40,000. The Chevrolet Bolt is a bona fide mass-market all-electric competitor. The new Nissan Leaf will be one too. According to a new report, it may actually be $5,000 cheaper than the Tesla Model 3 which starts at $35,000.

According to Autoblog, the 2018 Nissan Leaf is going to start at $29,990 for the base model. The entry-level model will have a 40kWh battery, though, which means that it will only provide a range of around 160 miles.

So the entry-level Leaf will be $5,000 cheaper than the Tesla Model 3 and will offer less range. The $35,000 entry-level Tesla Model 3 promises a range of 220 miles on a single charge.

It’s going to lag behind in performance numbers as well it seems. It’s reported that the Nissan Leaf will deliver 147 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. Tesla hasn’t confirmed the numbers for the Model 3 as yet but previous reports suggest that it will tout 258 horsepower.

Nissan is reportedly going to offer expensive trim levels for the 2018 Leaf which include the $32,490 Leaf SV and the $36,200 Leaf SL. The SL may also feature Nissan’s ProPilot semi-autonomous driving technology.

None of this has been officially confirmed by Nissan as yet so take it with a grain of salt.

Bang & Olufsen Unveils $40,000 BeoLab 50 Speakers

Have you ever wanted to spend the kind of money that someone would pay for a really nice car on a pair of speakers? If you’ve answered yes to that question, take a look at Bang & Olufsen’s new product. The company is known for its premium audio products so it’s not surprising anyone with the BeoLab 50, a new speaker system that costs $39,170 per pair. B&O says that the BeoLab 50 is the first “loudspeaker” from Bang & Olufsen.

As is the case with most Bang & Olufsen products, the design of the BeoLab 50 is sleek and minimal. They’re also packed full of advanced audio technology to provide a listening experience that can justify the $40K price tag.

B&O’s Active Room Compensation technology can be found onboard the new speakers. The technology relies on an external microphone to measure the acoustic surroundings and optimize sound delivery for optimum performance.

The speakers have Acoustic Lens technology which makes a “lens” rise from the top of the speaker and can be configured into one of two different sound dispersion settings, either wide or narrow.

There are seven drivers inside the sleek body that deliver a total of 2,100 watts, they include three 10 inch woofers, three 4 inch midrange drivers and one 0.74 inch tweeter. All of them are paired to seven 300 watt amplifiers.

All of this is packed inside a tall and slim body that’s made out of aluminum and oak wood. In case you forgot, a pair of the BeoLab 50 costs $40,000.

You may never have seen a device like the YotaPhone. The first one was announced a couple of years back. It was unique because it had a secondary e-ink display at the back. Two iterations of this handset have been launched so far and it was revealed in June that the YotaPhone 3 will cost around $350. Not a lot of details about the new handset were revealed back then but today specs and press renders of the YotaPhone 3 have been leaked online.

The YotaPhone 3 is reportedly going to feature a 5.5 inch primary AMOLED display with a 5.2 inch HD resolution e-ink display at the back. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It may be offered with up to 128GB of storage.

The YotaPhone 3 is also said to feature a 12 megapixel rear and 13 megapixel front camera. There will be a physical home button on the front which will also act as the fingerprint scanner. A USB-C port and a 3,200mAh battery are said to be onboard.

The model with 64GB will have a price tag of $350. The 128GB storage variant might be sold of $450. The YotaPhone 3 is expected to arrive in Russia and China first in the near future before eventually making its way to other markets across the globe.

Leaked press renders offer a glimpse of the device itself. The design doesn’t seem to have changed much but then again, it’s not like the YotaPhone has always been highly regarded for its design.
