Drones are tools that when used properly can be useful in many different ways. However since it would be a tall order to assume that all drone pilots are responsible, this is where the law needs to step in. The Pentagon has recently signed off on a new policy that will allow military bases to shoot down drones that trespass on their property.
This will apply to both private and consumer drones that are deemed to be a threat, which we guess makes sense. According to Pentagon spokesman Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, “The new guidance does afford of the ability to take action to stop these threats and that includes disabling, destroying and tracking.”
This is actually not the first rule to be passed that allows the authorities to ground drones. For example a couple of years ago, a new bill was introduced that allowed firefighters to ground drones that they deemed were in their way of rescue efforts. This was after drone owners had used their drones to try and record their own footage, and in the process actually hindered the rescue efforts by firefighters.
Following such incidents, the FAA introduced a ruling which required all drone owners to register their devices with the agency, although recently it seems that it might no longer be necessary.

The Nokia 3 is currently one of low-end smartphones launched by Nokia and HMD Global. Given that it is a low-end device, we suppose there isn’t much expectation from it in terms of updates for the future, as is usually the case for other low-end handsets from other handset makers.
However that doesn’t appear to be the case for HMD Global. Recently the company confirmed their plans to update the handset to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but it looks like they won’t be stopping there. In a recent tweet by HMD’s chief product officer, he has since confirmed that the Nokia 3 will be eligible to be updated to Android O as well.
Hi there! Yes it will

Note that Android O has yet to be officially released and at the moment, it is still in its developer preview phase. However it should be getting close to release considering we are at that time of the year where we can expect the new Pixel phones from Google to be launched, but the question is when it is released, when will HMD push out the update?
We suppose that is also quite an important question, but the good news is that it is expected to receive the update at some point in time in the future, so if you are thinking of getting your hands on it, know that it is good for at least one more major Android update.

The MMORPG subscription model is a great model because it ensures that developers and publishers get a steady stream of revenue every month (assuming it isn’t free-to-play). However how much they earn also depends on the number of players, and in the case of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV, it seems that the game has recently crossed the 10 million mark.
According to Square Enix’s recent announcement, they have revealed that Final Fantasy XIV is now home to more than 10 million registered players worldwide across both the PS4 and PC platforms. However we should note that this includes all registered accounts since the launch of the game and those who registered for the free trial, which means that in terms of how much the game is making from subscriptions is unclear.
Also this is the total number of players who are registered, versus how many players are actually active, which would be an interesting figure to know since Blizzard’s World of Warcraft is still considered by many as the MMORPG to beat in terms of monthly active players. The game’s expansion Stormblood was released last month which adds two new job classes along with an increase in the level cap, new high level raids, and more.
If you are curious about the game, you can head on over to its website and sign up for a free trial which will let players play up to level 35 with no time restrictions.

Virtual reality headsets like the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Sony PlayStation VR all rely on physical controls. These controls allow the player to control themselves in the game, much like a gamepad, keyboard, or mouse, although we guess in a way there is a bit of a disconnect since the controller isn’t always representative of what’s in the game.
However a company by the name of Neurable has built a prototype peripheral that allows users to control their actions in the game using just their brain, which could hint at a future where our VR experiences are completely hands-free. The idea of using our brains to control gadgets isn’t new, and we have seen it used for medical purposes such as controlling a wheelchair.
What happens in this case is that it uses specific brain signals to trigger actions in the game. Neurable tells the folks at IEEE Spectrum that they are hoping to bring this experience to VR arcades as soon as 2018, and that the final product will be considerably sleeker compared to the device you see in the image above.
It is an interesting idea and it could solve some of the problems with VR gaming, especially in terms of movement where gamers either need to use the controls to walk/run, or rely on more expensive accessories like the Omni Treadmill.

While it is without a doubt that Mario Odyssey is one of the more anticipated games that will be arriving for the Nintendo Switch, at E3 2017 a couple of months ago, Nintendo and Ubisoft made a surprise announcement in the form of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, a game which combines some iconic Nintendo characters with Ubisoft’s Rabbids.
The game is expected to be released later this month, but to whet our appetites, Ubisoft has since released a new character trailer for the game featuring Mario. Assuming this is a pattern, it means that moving forward we can expect additional character trailers to be released featuring the other characters from the game.
According to Ubisoft’s description on YouTube, “Discover and unleash Mario’s power in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. As a mid-to-close range fighter with excellent mobility, Mario is the perfect hero to lead your team in combat. Use his M-Power technique to power-up your allies and blast foes when they move using Mario’s Hero Sight. With Mario by your side, no challenge is too great!”
The game is currently set for a release on the 29th of August and while it is a full game, we have heard recent rumors to suggest that the game might not be a full-priced game, and that it could be priced at $50 instead of $60, but we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
