Next Version Of Firefox Will Bring VR Support

Mozilla has been working to bring virtual reality support to the Firefox browser for quite some time now. Firefox nightly builds actually got support for the Oculus Rift VR headset back in 2015. The company is now ready to support VR on a much wider scale. It has confirmed that the next version of Firefox is going to have support for virtual reality made possible by WebVR.

For those who are unaware, WebVR is the technology that enables browsers to support virtual reality content. The upcoming iteration of Firefox, version 55, will add this crucial functionality to Mozilla’s web browser.

Firefox will finally be able to match Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge in this department. Both of those browsers received web-based virtual reality support several months ago.

Firefox 55 is going to receive another new feature called Screenshots. It will enable users to take, save, and share screenshots without even having to leave the browser.

The feature will allow users to easily capture an element on the screen, an arbitrary region, the entire visible page, or the complete page with parts scrolled off screen.

The next version of Firefox is going to start rolling out to users across the globe from August 8th. The Screenshots feature will be rolled out gradually so not all users will find this feature starting tomorrow.
