Apple’s HomePod firmware is the gift that keeps on giving. When the company shared an early build of the speaker firmware, many developers started digging around the strings in a library file to find hints about the next iPhone. And iHelp BR spotted an interesting reference to the facial recognition feature. A previous leak from the HomePod firmware revealed that the iPhone 8 (or… Read More

I have it on good authority that stegosauruses (or is it stegosauri?) were not green or brown as we originally thought. It’s a fact that they were entirely pink. I recently learned this while shopping on UK gift and gadget shop Firebox, so it’s definitely true. You can commemorate this significant archaeological discovery with a pink stegosaurus lamp for your office.
This cute polygonal dinosaur casts a warm pink glow, and will look great on any desk. It’s made from polyresin, which is a fancy way of saying “plastic,” which also happens to be what real dinosaurs were made from. The lamp measures in at about 11″ long by 7″ high, and comes with a UK plug, so you’ll need an adapter to run it here in the states. Again, same as a real stegosaurus.
Grab one today for about $39(USD), and get started on building your own personal light-up Jurassic Park.

With Google, you search for something and you get your results and that’s it. It’s pretty straightforward and that’s also pretty much how most search engines work. However according to 9to5Google, it seems that Google could be trying something new with its mobile search, by displaying search results within search results.
According to the report, this feature was noticed using the Google application on a Pixel phone, in which after clicking one of the links in the main search results page and scrolling to the bottom, a small window popped up (third screenshot to the right) in which Google showed search results based on what other people have clicked in the past.
Note that this is different from suggested search queries, in which Google can sometimes offer users different search queries to help narrow their search in case they can’t find what they’re looking for. Instead this seems to be linking actual websites that users have clicked on in the past, which presumably Google thinks is relevant to what you’re searching for as well.
We’re not sure what the point of this feature is, but it looks like it could be a time saver in the sense that users don’t need to press the back button to go back to their search results, or open multiple tabs. Unfortunately there is no telling if this is expected to become a main feature, especially since Google does conduct tests from time to time.

If you watch YouTube a lot on your computer, there’s probably a good chance that you’re familiar with the various controls and features of YouTube, such as the ability to change the speed of a video. For example users can slow a video down or speed it up depending on their preferences.
Unfortunately these features do not exist on the YouTube app for mobile, or at least until more recently where according to 9to5Google, YouTube seems to be testing out the feature on its Android app. As you can see in the screenshot above, the “speed” setting is now available in the Android app where users can choose to slow down a video’s speed to as slow as 0.25x, or speed it up to 2x.
The speed controls will do exactly as they suggest and won’t differ from the desktop’s version of the control, so in reality nothing’s changed except for its availability. 9to5Google notes that this feature was discovered in the YouTube app version 12.29.57 running on a Pixel handset. We’re not sure how widespread this feature is, but it appears that Google is testing it out for now.
There is also no telling when the feature will be rolled out to more users, but we can only assume it is a matter of time. After all if the feature was available on desktop, we don’t see why Google couldn’t bring it onto mobile as well.

Back in July, Blizzard announced that they had a new expansion for Hearthstone in the works called Knights of the Frozen Throne. The game did not have a specific release date save for August, but now it looks like we finally have a date to mark down on our calendars as Blizzard has confirmed the expansion’s release for the 10th of August.
For those hearing about the expansion for the first time, it seems that Knights of the Frozen Throne will see Blizzard revisit the continent of Northrend again, which is actually not a bad thing since the Lich King is one of the game’s more memorable enemies. The expansion is free to download, but players who want access to the expansion’s cards will have to purchase booster packs.
These booster packs are currently priced at $50 for 50 packages, which should net you a ton of cards to use in the process. Gamers who pre-purchase it will also be able to unlock a Frostmourne card back that they can add to their collection. The expansion will be introducing 135 new cards, new hero cards, and also a new Lifesteal mechanic.
If you’re interested in pre-purchasing the boosters, there is still time to do so, so head on over to Blizzard’s website for the details on how to purchase them.

We’re pretty sure that given how long Apple and Foxconn have been working together that the latter company is very familiar with the way Apple does things, and also how much the company values their secrets. Oddly enough this hasn’t stopped Foxconn execs over the years to drop hints here and there regarding Apple’s upcoming products.
In fact according to a report from MyDrivers (via 9to5Mac), they had spotted a post on Weibo (which has since been deleted) made by Foxconn exec Luo Zhongsheng, in which he reveals some details about the upcoming iPhone 8. According to the post, it seems that Luo was talking about the OLED displays that would be used with the iPhone 8.
He claims that the iPhone 8 will not be cheap as yields of the OLED display are low, with a failure rate of 40%. Apparently this is due to the “special design”, which has since been speculated to be the notch in the top part of the screen that houses the speaker unit and front-facing camera (and rumored 3D laser scanners for facial recognition).
While we suppose the post does seem more legit coming from Foxconn, we can’t say for sure if it is accurate until Apple actually announces it, so do take it with a grain of salt for now.
