Lyft Will Match Donations Made On Rides Paid With Apple Pay

Are you thinking about donating to charity? If you are, then you might have heard of Lyft’s Round Up & Donate program. For those who haven’t, basically this is where at the end of your trip, Lyft will round up your fare to the nearest dollar and that difference will be donated to a variety of charity organizations.

Now in an announcement by Lyft, the company has revealed that for users who opt to use Apple Pay when paying for their rides and who are opted in the Round Up & Donate program, the company will be matching your donations, meaning it won’t be just the rider who donates, but Lyft will be donating as well based on how much you donate.

This program is expected to run for the entire month, so if you want to increase the amount that is being donated to the various charities supported by Lyft, now is the time to do so. Round Up & Donate is an opt-in program and if you’d like to find out how to opt into it (or opt out), the instructions can be found on Lyft’s support page.

Given that Lyft is currently boasting 1 million rides per day, even if the rounded up figure is a couple of cents, it will certainly add up in the long run.

Alleged iPhone 8 Mockup Is Apparently 99% The Real Thing

As the date to the iPhone 8’s launch gets closer, we’re starting to see how the rumors are coming together in which they are more or less agreeing on things like features, specs, and design. In fact not too long ago, the folks at Zach Epstein at BGR , which is apparently 99% the real thing.

Speaking to CNBC, BGR’s Jonathan Geller is pretty convinced that the mockup is as close to the real thing as we can get for now. “Those pictures, while they’re not the real phone — they’re based on designs and molds and engineering samples — I would say that’s 99 percent the phone. It always looks better than it does in those crappy molds and dummies. But I think that’s the phone.”

Note that the mockup isn’t an actual “leak” or a “lost” prototype, but rather it has been cobbled together based on previously leaked designs, schematics, and rumors, but like we said, Geller seems to be pretty sure that this is the real deal and what the phone could look like. While we can’t say with 100% certainty that it is real, the design is based on what many reputable leaksters have shown in the past, so it stands to believe that at least some of it could be true.

In any case you’re probably best taking it with a grain of salt for now, but with Apple expected to announce the new phone in September, we won’t have to wait much longer to see if the rumors and leaks have been right all this while.

Law Firm In Canada Launches AI Assistant To Help With Immigration

If you’re trying to migrate to another country, the process can be rather complicated and hard to understand at times due to the various requirements, documentation, and legal process that you have to follow. However a Montreal-based law firm by the name of EXEO will be making that process slightly easier thanks to the use of AI.

The company has recently deployed what they are calling its Immigration Virtual Assistant, which as its name suggests will rely on AI to help users navigation the immigration process if they are considering moving to Canada. Users will be able to interact with the bot for free via Facebook Messenger in a Q&A format and ask it various questions.

Of course it won’t actually grant you immigration to Canada, but the idea is that any general inquiries you might have about the process can be answered, after which users can then choose to hire EXEO if they wish to begin the process. According to Marc-André Séguin, a partner at EXEO and co-founder of IVA, “We wanted our expertise to benefit people, whether they are looking to settle down, work, or study in Canada. Our solution was to offer them a tool that simplifies the initial steps of the process.”

The IVA isn’t the first “robot lawyer” of its kind. Prior to this we have seen how AI can be used to help users dispute their traffic tickets or answer legal questions in general. While they aren’t substitutes for actual lawyers, like we said, the convenience and speed can make general inquiries move along faster.

Stardew Valley Multiplayer To Enter Beta By End Of 2017

Indie darling farming sim Stardew Valley has been a single-player game since its inception, but many players have been getting a bit lonely which is why many were probably excited to learn that the game would be getting a multiplayer feature. This feature was announced last year and it seems that we can finally look forward to playing it soon.

In a post on the Stardew Valley website, the developers have confirmed that the multiplayer feature of the game is expected to enter into beta by the end of 2017, before being released in full in early 2018. “We currently expect to be able to start a beta test at the end of the year for Steam users to help us test the game. Mod authors will be encouraged to update their mods during this beta period. Then, in early 2018 we will release it as the 1.3 patch on Windows, Mac and Linux.”

The developers also confirmed that the feature will be released for consoles starting with the Nintendo Switch. We are not sure if there will be cross-platform support, like what the folks at Microsoft and Mojang are doing for Minecraft, so we guess we’ll have to wait and see and cross our fingers and hope that is the case. This still means that there will be quite a bit of waiting left to be done, so gamers will just have to remain patient until then.

These Are The Alleged Final Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Specs

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s specs have been leaked and rumored about for the longest time now, and if you’re wondering what we can expect from the phone, the alleged “final” specs of the phone have since been revealed, thanks to a post on VentureBeat by the ever-reliable Evan Blass.

For the most part, the Note 8’s final specs don’t differ too greatly from what we’ve been hearing so far, so we guess at least the rumor mill has been consistent. Starting with the display, the phone is said to feature a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a QHD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. This makes it a hair thicker than that of the Galaxy S8+.

The handset is also rumored to pack either an Exynos 8895 chipset or the Snapdragon 835 chipset, which we guess isn’t that surprising. We are also looking at a bump in RAM from 4GB to 6GB, something that some have been asking for, and also 64GB of onboard storage with the option to expand via microSD.

The Note 8 is also rumored to pack dual rear-facing cameras, an 8MP front-facing camera, and a fast-charging 3,300mAh battery. Like we said it sounds like what we’ve been hearing so far, but we guess we should be able to find all the official details come 23rd of August which is when the phone is expected to be announced.
